Raising his head to meet the latter’s gaze, Dio offered a thankful smile in return. “Yeah,” he replied almost playfully, “I hurt all over. But I doubt you can fix all of it. So this is fine. Thanks.” He gently rubbed the bandages with his long white digits. Damn… that was way better a job than he could do. The bandages were sturdy, and there’s no way it would leak again.
“You seem more used to this bandaging business than me, I’ll tell you that…” he chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck softly. “And don’t worry about the talking. I was just mentioning it as an observation. It’s rare to find anyone this homey around here, at least from what I’ve seen.” Exhaling, he flexed his fingers, noticing now the tiny scars that were left over from the time he scraped his hands against the rough pavement after falling over. He fell over quite a bit – malnourishment and the overall will to escape and avoid everyone have you falling off your feet quite a bit. Huffing lightly, he fisted his hands.
However, as he heard William’s offered, his eyes shot back up, startled – this was unexpected.
“S-stay? You mean here with you? N-nah, it’s alright. I mean, yeah – I don’t really have anywhere but it doesn’t look like you can fit much of anyone here and anyway, I really ought to go back up there… that is… to the Middle Kingdom…” he laughed wryly, taking off his barrette and sliding his fingers through his obsidian tresses. “Yeah. I’m not from here, but I don’t belong there. It’s really shitty. So… don’t worry about it, alright? From what I heard, you can hardly look after yourself. Much less after someone like me.” The cold bitterness was returning to his tone – that wish to be completely disconnected from the world. What was he doing? Talking, laughing… free, unchained, unrestricted – stupid, stupid, stupid. He was a dog, and the dog’s only place was on his master’s chain.
Not that he had a master. But he most certainly had the chain.
