Welcome to Gaia! ::

Welcome to 'Tips to making a successful Role Play'. Here is where I will offer tips and other suggestions on how to get a successful RP. This is your basic format, if you want to do otherwise, you may still be able to use some of this information. If you do like these tips, feel free to use them. If you don't, then use them however you may like.

Title
When making a title, you want it to be original, but yet something that is unordinary. Using Big words and different symbols draws eyes, getting you more people to be interested in your RP. Make sure that you spell things the way they should be. If someone sees that you misspelled a lot of words, they will most likely turn away.

Introduction
When one introduces the role play, you will want to include as much detail as possible that get the general picture to the reader. Use punctuation correctly, and make sure that you spell as much things correctly as possible. Make it eye catching and as interesting as possible. People like new things, so be creative.

Rules
You want to come up with as little rules as you can. If you have a big list, it may turn away customers. I know I wouldn't want to RP and have to worry about a million rules. Have your basic rules, but add in some that will have to be applied to your RP.

Character Information
The more character information, the better. The more information people have about your RP character, will make the RPing better to participate in. It will give one a more detailed picture about your personal character and their background.

Story Lines
Some people like story lines. Some don't. Some like to make it up as they go. These are all good options. It depends on what kind of RP you want to do. Whatever you feel like doing, and if you have a story line, don't bail. Keep up with it. It will let people down and they would be disappointed.

If you have any comments/questions, feel free to PM me. I will be happy to respond.
I have several rp's that do this. However, most of them fail...some go for a little bit, then die.

Guilds are always easier to pull off then rp's but I havnt yet figured out why...

I usually do Martial arts oriented rp's, that seems to be unpopular for some reason in gaia.

Ive had a rp FFA guild going sence when I first started guy which was like 10,000+ post back.

I'm in FFA. 4laugh
Tip for castle/war RPs: Don't make one side good and one side evil, make them a bit of both. Make sure you have hidden twist too make the more popular side look bad.

Well then, come and visit the lu-bu dojo sometime. We welcome good rpers.
I know that sometimes I can be turned away from an RP if it has too much storyline. If it's full of history, and different names for everything, and... the list goes on and on. Anyway, after that I just can't read anymore. Make it detailed, but not TOO detailed.
Do you think flashy presentation helps? I think so, and I've vamped up my RP's appearance with BBCode - it makes the first page more attractive. Don't be scared to use motifs, color when writing your titles and rules... it makes them that much easier to follow. Normal-sized letters seem better to me too. I don't like to have to wince in order to read small letters. Finally don't go overboard with color. I've seen rainbow lettering that didn't inspire me to read.

So my tip: even though it's not really relevant to the storyline itself, a nice appearance helps interest people and urge them to read more!
To make things short: Spell correctly.

Oh, and the first one... Do you mean like this: o0 ~ VaMpIrE's MaNsIoN ~ 0o ?

Sure, bad example, but personally I wouldn't take that seriously.

That is a splended idea!

A banner would be nice too, if you know how to do one by yourself. Or else, finding a good banner might be tricky. It's hard to find someone who'll do one really according to your tastes. It's still all about the appearance and may seem very superficial, but that's also part of what makes people enjoy the reading of your RP, no?
