The snap of latex and the smells of antiseptic made her nose wrinkle. As her eyes fluttered open her vision was at first blurred. A flurry of people seemed to be milling about, all in various pastel colors. One was in purple, another in blue. What stood out the most was the man who hovered over top of her, looking down upon her. He wore black, and even though his face was almost entirely covered his eyes bore down into hers.

“Good Morning,” He said calmly.

Her heart rushed, and she yanked her arms which refused to move.

“You’ve been selected to be a part of a unique study. As a sixteen year old, you’ve shown incredible resilience.”

His voice was haunting as it hummed from beneath a medical mask. Even so she knew who he was and that frightened her. The man had been so kind and generous. The green hues of his eyes matched the ones that she had seen. As the people seemed to slow and stand at the ready she unleashed a scream, throwing her head back and trying to thrash about. But it was too late, he leaned over and shoved the plastic mask over her face. Even though she remained conscious her body numbed. And then it began.

Rupert Stanfield had everything. Under his direction was the world’s largest and most flourishing company. They manufactured anything and everything; from the machines that build cars in a factory to medical equipment such as CAT scan machines or Ultrasound. As a young boy he had set out to accomplish it all, to take hold of his father’s miserable company and take it to new places. At just Twenty Five he managed to do it and without the help of anyone. The company was the largest of its kind in the world and it high statue went unnoticed. Stanfield never wanted to rule the world of people so as much as he took in he gave back to the people, establishing hospitals and schools worldwide. But with so many accomplishments Stanfield still craved for more. Although his company was revolutionary it had not created anything different than what already existed. So he set out to discover something new, something that may exist in the world of movies and comic books – Stanfield decided that he wanted to create the first superhuman.

So to accomplish this Stanfield went to medical school, the best the world had to offer; Harvard followed by John’s Hopkins in the United States. After graduating he drew up five schematics, five different plans that would (in theory) spit out a superhuman creation. It became his fascination and at once he went to the world’s top professionals and set them to work, paying them boat loads of money for them to discover the compounds that were needed. At first he thought of becoming the experiment himself but he was flat out denied by his teams. By then he was in his early thirties and they told him that he was too old to be resilient enough to pull through anything like what was planned. The stress of what they had created would be too much for anyone over twenty to handle. The requirements for each project were incredibly strict. Stanfield was sent out to find those that he needed on his own. They had height and weight requirements followed by blood type and even in one case heritage. They needed to know everything about whoever they brought in. The profile standards were handed to Stanfield and he took them. He was willing to do whatever it took to fulfill his dream.

With his medical license in tow Stanfield visited all of the major hospitals he had opened with the use of his company. He simply wanted to see how people used his facilities, or at least this was his cover. For over a year he met with people, teenagers to be more specific. As he went along with his business he kept profiles on those who looked to fit the bill. Stanfield's hospital visits took him all over the world. When he went from one hospital to the next he left a person behind to keep tabs on whoever he thought looked promising. This way they wouldn't lose track of anyone. The goal was to get maybe three people for each profile so that there could be three attempts made to make a superhuman. A second round up would take too much time.

By the end of the year they were all picked. Some of them came from scum, others from the elite but all together they all met with the standard that was needed. From regions all over the world Stanfield had hand selected his teenagers, all born in the same year making them sixteen years old. They were remarkable in their own way and having either met them because they were in the hospital or for some other reason were just there, he had his group of subjects.

Stanfield hired a group of skilled kidnappers and they were all brought in. Ten of them total, two for each project. Although one of them nearly escaped their capture eventually they were all rounded up and taken to a facility where Stanfield had his men at the ready.

The first phase used the first five, three boys and two girls. Their projects started immediately after their capture. The teens were all strong and healthy but they all succumbed. Doses were two high in terms of chemicals for most of them. Another mishap occurred when one of the boys successfully lashed out but instead of trying to escape he killed himself. It was a bloody mess a month in. The first phase however, was a lesson to the professionals. So they re-evaluated what they knew and continued on.


While the first phase went on the other five were kept in isolation. Soft white padded rooms were their prisons and for the majority of the time they were drugged to keep their minds from wandering. They were kept in such a state for a month. A week before their projects were to start they were given regular food and a routine followed by a regular check up and health evaluation.

So here we are. Within the confinement of an elite compound- built on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean are the remaining five. They have been within its containment for two months and their every move has been studied by their teams. Each one of them has their own team of ten people working to make them into a superhuman. Each project differs from the next. Stanfield overseas everything, only on one project has he intervened and decided to do it himself. What will become of these five teenagers, all sixteen years of age? Will they die? Or will they survive, and then what? With escaping not an option they all have lives to fight for.

I’m not here to post an endless list of rules and guidelines for this role-play. I’m looking forward to having fun and making this story an adventure. However I am looking for a literate to advanced crowd who can spell, use good grammar and post in size 9-10 font. I’m not expecting ten paragraphs that go on and on about the scene. I’m looking for interesting posts with comedy and strong unique characters. Quality over quantity is my favorite rule when it comes to role-plays so please respect that.

I am not typing this entire thing out so that it can sit here, look pretty and collect dust. If you apply your obligation is to be committed. If you computer has a risk of blowing up or if you know that you work load either from a job or school is going to pile up then I ask you to reconsider. I know that people have a life and trips but I am looking for at least 1 post a week at the very least. This way we all know that you’re still alive.

Your resume is a compilation of three posts from different threads that show off your talent and capability as a role-player. These posts cannot be made up on the spot; I would prefer that they have come from previous experience either here on Gaia or on another site. A good mix of introductions and other posts are preferred. As for character sheets, again, I am looking for unique colorful characters who aren’t perfect. These teenagers may be qualified for their project but they have quirks and vices just like any other person. As for prettiness and images, the more you put into it the more likely you are to be chosen. One more thing; blinding colors and page stretching images will be asked to be removed upon sight.

Alright, the thing is the point of this role-play is not romance. We're looking for action and trauma and drama all packed into one. Romance is permitted but it will not be the point of this roleplay. All sexualities are permitted but again, it should not be the foundation of things. Crushes and such will not be important. [ No. 1 -- The Angel Experiment ]

You're the one who was the child of a pilot, destined to fly in the skies whether in a flying death trap like the one that killed your father or on your own. Your project is a tricky one since your not a fetus in a womb. The job here is to hollow out your bones using a specialized chemical injected like a bone marrow transplant. Aside from that your metabolism needs to be adjusted so that you don't gain weight when you eat. On top of that there's also those wings that have to somehow be grafted to your body.

You're the kid who had a broken leg and wouldn't take the pain killers when they needed to reset your knee cap. Your resilience earned you this position, along with all of your stats of course. That and you're the one who almost escaped being kidnapped. The soldier project entails genetic enhancement. Through the use of injections and several operations your genetics will be altered to make you faster and stronger. The idea is to make you a highly abled killer, quick to think, act and do it fast. Aside from literally having your genes torn a part, your brain will be getting a few adjustments too.

The swimmer, the one whose mom was dying of cancer when Stanfield arrived. The fact that you loved water along with your stats and blood type made you viable for this project. The operations are clearly mapped out. Your legs are to manipulated and combined along with skin flaps to form an actual tail. Along with that your lungs will be altered and you will be given gills and other aquatic features. On top of that the scientists intent on teaching you several tactics and under water combat to make you a dangerous weapon.

You're the one who was brought in first and you were supposed to go in with the first phase until you caught that bout of flu. Lucky you because your counterpart didn't make it past the first enhancement. The Android experiment entails massive reconstruction of your inner organs, making them run by machines instead. Your brain will be modified so that it will live longer and your mechanical parts will make you faster and stronger than any human. Think to the point that if you survive you could very well be immortal. But somehow giving up your body for parts doesn't sound so appealing.

Your the one who won't be undergoing any form of alteration. You'll still be you, the trouble is they want to get into your head. They want to make it so that as a human you will have access to 2% more of your brains functions. On top of that they want to make you into a super genius at their control. The danger is your not exactly willing to sit still and remain awake through it all. Your counterpart died after a slip at the hands of their doctor and with all that time in isolation you've become incredibly fidgety Here's hoping you survive.

The idea of taking an unwilling teenager and making them winged kind of thrills you, although doing such a thing is outside of the law you still want to do it. You want to be revolutionary. Being brought into this makes you feel good and gives you the acknowledgment that you're the best at what you do. The idea of making a human into a superhuman fish is kind of exciting though you cannot hide your disappointment that one of your colleagues nabbed the Android experiment or even The Angel. Still, you're out to prove them wrong by accomplishing your job first.

Now you're here to prove that what you're doing will be a success and perhaps the solution to organ donation waiting lists worldwide.

[ Lumsden Hospital/Stanfield Island ]
The Facility
The setting for this roleplay shall be on a private island, two hundred kilometres out from the coast of Vancouver and Seattle Washington. The weather in the area is dreary, it rains constantly. Te building itself is state of the art but from afar it is decieving. Stanfield had it designed to look like an arcitectural masterpiece this way it would still pass for a bachelor's pad. The facility itself stretches only two floors above ground but a further six below.

Floor 1 - Above Ground
This is the apparent bachelor's pad, belonging to Stanfield and acting as a cover should anyone get too curious as to why he lives as such a recluse. The floor is suitable with a large expansive kitchen, office, living room, bedroom, guestroom and full ensuite bathroom. On the exterior there is a large swimming pool, fountain followed by the surrounding forests that filll up the rest of the island. The island itself is heavily guarded with towers at all four corners and round the clock guards patrolling the outside of the mansion. The only way in and out is by chopper which has to be specifically called in by Stanfield himself.

Floor 2 - Above Ground
This secondary floor is home to all of the staff and project teams. This large floor is a large underground home with dozens of bedrooms, bathrooms, a dining area and kitchen. This is where the scientists eat and sleep aside from the other areas below where their projects reside. Rooms here are stocked with computers and whatever decorations the scientists decided to bring in. Stanfield had it furnished to be classy and elegant. The furniture is oak and cherrywood with a light carpet flooring. Everything is very nice, expensive really. The scientists appreciate the fact that they don't have to live in a dump. Although they all have as many computers and whatever equipment necessary for their projects, one thing they don't have is a television. :[

Floor 3 - Under Ground
This is the first floor, a secretorial floor used to keep files and track of everything. One a regular day this area will only be bustling on over turning hours, otherwise it's quiet and the only people around are nurses on break or the secretaries themselves who track and file all of the paperwork surronding the projects. As a whole there are rooms dedicated to each project but a large common room features a large semi-circle of desk space and waiting room, complete with boring magazines and uncomfy chairs.

This is ground zero for the Angel Experiment.

This is ground zero for the Soldier Experiment.

This is ground zero for the Mermaid Experiment.

Floor 9 - Under Ground
A large expansive floor that is used for group work and exotic testing as well as exercise and when the kids are more developed, meal time.

Work Hours; whatever is needed. Each scientists keeps to their own schedule and decides when they want to work. Of course, they must also log everything that they due. Routine is necessary, most scientists begin their rounds at five o'clock in the morning and continue on through the day, taking whatever time they need to themselves. Stanfield doesn't often permit more than three breaks a day.

[ Profiles ]

Alright, once you've gotten past the background check you will be heading in to the bulk of the work before this roleplay gets started; the profile. The good thing is, they won't be super long this time around so don't fret when you see the skeletons. When it comes to the actual appearance of the profile, please put some effort into it. As an advanced roleplayer pictures will be needed. The most amazing editing site has been created, I use it and it's incredibly easy. Create a free account on www.picnik.com and voilà, instant image editor that is FAR easier that photoshop.

Here are some tips when it comes to filling them out.

• We're using real people here. This means models. I have a bunch of websites linked below. I know that since the kids are all sixteen it will be harder to pick. Make sure that images are viable to their roles and suitable to your characters.

• No celebrities or well known actors. We're looking for nameless, faceless models.

• No blinding colours, glittery text or flashing effects. No one needs to have a seizure while reading a profile.

• Post completed profiles here in the OOC thread and send me a message with the page number should I not be online.

• Make your characters personable. They all will have their flaws. No emo kids who want to kill themselves because they've been trapped either. That ruins the point of the roleplay.

So, here's the deal. I'm not liking how it takes a month for everyone to scrounge up a profile that has colorful text and amazing coding. In that time this roleplay died before. So, instead of doing a full profile you are going to make something like a post. In first person (from your character's perspective) you will explain in four major paragraphs:

1. Their family and background history. No sob stories please. Be reasonable.
2. Their personality, how they relate to their family and more about themselves.
3. Likes & Dislikes & Habits
4. How they came to meet Stanfield, what he did for them.

The profile skeleton is still here, use it and don't change the coding around as you please.
