Hey, doesn't matter to me none. I don't join RPs so I never ever have to deal with it. I'm just a lazy GM and rather hate reading profiles of any sort to begin with. So why make people apply using any form of apt that looks like content for a profile (that I never truly intend to read unless I'm desperate and bored as ********.) XD

All the power to you and how you run stuff.

Oh, I'm just the opposite of a lazy GM. xd I take a lot of time with each character, making sure they're round, and that they're right for the RP. The few times I've lapsed, I've always hated myself for it.

I also always take the time to carefully read through the profiles of the characters I'm interacting with in other roleplays, so I guess it's just my thing to care so much about it. I just really like getting to know the characters - my own and the ones I'm interacting with. Maybe that's why this idea occurred to me to begin with - maybe I have some kind of fetish for really round characters.

Funny enough, though, I take far less time to get to know the players, and I actually strongly prefer to not play with the same people over and over again. That's actually why I couldn't provide references; I honestly don't know who I've roleplayed with. Sometimes I recognize names, but I couldn't tell you what roleplay I was in with them, or what character they played.

Yeah, I don't need those things because I know the people I am role playing with. I prefer to know the player. because I can't RP with someone I don't like. I don't care if you're amazing in character, I don't care if you write like a god, if I don't ******** like you I will not enjoy the role play.

I accumulate partners and group members over the years. I sometimes never RP with certain players ever again, but we form a lasting friendship outside of just RPing. Sometimes years later I throw those people invites to new RPs because I simply loved them (besides I often end up liking someones writing better if I know them, vice versa I sometimes get to know someone well because of their writing but either way I get to know them),

I still RP with people I RP'd with five/six years ago when I first joined Gaia. A little less now since several have either stopped playing on this site, or don't RP anymore. But I still have partners and group players from back in the day.

For me it means I don't have to sit for a month recruiting (by which time I hate my RP and simply walk away from it.) I can just invite people over and we have a gay old time. > w <'

Sides I find the best players have always been ones that impressed me and make a mark on me out of character in conversation. Such as Bewley, a player that randomly joined my Carmine RP, he made the BEST first impress when he contacted me. I seriously feel head over heels for him, he was so entertaining and adorable and I really liked him. From there I've simply fallen in love with his RPing and his characters.

Personal stuff aside I have learned from experience a nit group role plays better. You learn what people like and you can give it to them, plus the story.

I love knowing someone like Phii (one of my group RP friends) knows how I LOVE instant character interaction (not wasting a set of 2-3 posts just to get people in the same room), she knows to throw her character into the fray and get the action going. This pleases me to NO END, she is amazing for giving me exactly what I want and all the story I could desire too. > w < She's a personal favorite RP group player, I would invite her to all my RPs if I could, and I could but how knows if she'd join them all! XD

You're not the only person who can't give references. I have had a few people ask to join but couldn't give a reference if their life depended on it. It's kind of sad too that players are so detached from their groups, it's a bad sign in my books (considering my play and GMing style).

----------------

I'm a detailed GM but I'm not controlling, thus I don't need all the precautionary measures, and I often think that makes me come off as lazy so I call myself the lazy GM. I guess it's more trustworthy, and experienced enough to know what can fly and what can not.

*shrugs*

But to each their own. Whatever works right.

You like . . . whatever it is you do.

I like what I do. XD

Oh yeah, that's definitely not me. xd Once or twice I have accidentally joined RPs where everyone was already a big clique, and I was an outsider who didn't know what everyone else as talking about. Worst... roleplaying... experiences... ever. Now, if I even sense that kind of environment, I get the hell out as fast as possible. Even if I already have a character accepted, and even if I've started to get into the roleplay, if it turns out the whole thing is more about the clique then the game, I bail; I send in my notice, and get the hell out as quickly as I can manage without disrupting the RP.

I don't care that people want to roleplay with their friends, but it's just not for me. It does often make things difficult, though. Too many advanced literate people treat advanced literate roleplaying as some kind of club, where it's not how well you play but who you know. They make a token gesture of accepting competition for roles, but it's a sham because their friends will always get them, regardless of anything else.

I do things differently. 3nodding I never create a set number of roles and then force people to compete for them. That's just cruel; I really don't have that great a need to feel powerful. And it doesn't matter in the least how well I know you. Everyone gets an equal chance at a role, determined only by the quality of their writing (so far as I can tell by their profile and a quick forum search), and how well their character fits the nature of the roleplay I'm making. I've had a couple people join my roleplays who claimed to have never done an advanced literate roleplay before, and they acquitted themselves admirably.

Not everyone is as literate as us. 3nodding

    Haha, well yes, that's true.

I suppose what I meant was that it's not about the one definition of literacy, i.e. one who can read vs. one who can't read.
It's about people who have a greater range of language knowledge and who can use that range to create worlds and people.

Basically, if he'd merely read your intro, he would have realized that. rolleyes

Interesting.

I seldom join Advanced Literate roleplays, not because I didn't think I was unqualified for one, but because, like many RPers out there I find the label of 'Advanced Literate' a tad redundant. I supposed in a few Advanced Literate RPs I've been with, the only thing that's considered advanced about their literacy are longer paragraphs, so that's why I'm a bit skeptical of the subject. This is not to offend anyone however, and it's just simply my opinion on the matter.

It's the opposite for me though when it comes to who I associate with in terms of roleplaying. I prefer RPing with a wide variety of people, so that way my writing would grow the more I'm exposed to other varying RPing skills. And I personally wouldn't want to dislike a person I barely know on the internet no matter if I find them hard to get along with in threads. If their writing is good, and I'm having fun roleplaying with that person, then at often times it doesn't matter to me, unless it's one-on-one. The only time I would actually dislike a fellow RPer is when literacy-wise, they frustrate me to no end. You could get away with bad grammar and punctuation marks so many times until you stop and leave the thread altogether. And then playing with the same beautiful/powerful/kind character that might as well be marked as a Mary Sue. I also have a problem with RPers who join an RP for the sake of obtaining e-booty than making much of a character development.

Sorry. This suddenly became more of a ranting than anything else. sweatdrop

Teaser: The past is what helps shape your future, what structures it. When it needs to be erased, it's usually to better form your future. For anyone this task can be hard. For ten vampires that were trained to hate each other? This task may be nearly impossible. And with four Feeders along for the ride, it's bound to be an interesting adventure.
Genres: Fantasy, adventure, romance, some battling.
Accepting: We still currently need five more vampires. Surprisingly, we need more female characters as we have more male than female. Three female vampire spots are open, and two male vampire spots are open.

Not offended at all love.

That why I don't actual label myself; I honestly do not consider myself advance literate and refuse to use the label. I've begun in the last few years to make damn sure I do not use any form of label in my role play too. I think partly because the labels themselves carry some bad rep. and, as the troll from earlier proved, a lot of people regard those that labels themselves thus very poorly. So I don't use the label anymore, because I don't want people thinking that way about me.

I agree, I like RPing with different people too. Now including the reasons from earlier, another reason I like getting to know my group members and why I invite them to my RPs later down the road. Is also because I can not manage to gather a group of players anymore. I, no word of lie, spend a month looking for players and am unable to gather a simple four person group (this is including me in the count, meaning I can't even get three people together anymore.)

I spent on three occasions a total of six months trying to get three people to join my role play (I wanted to form a new group of players instead of RPing with friends again, I needed a fresh batch of RP friends). I tried twice on Gaia, once on tumblr. Each time I managed to get one person, including myself, to join and then received promises from a dozen people who disappeared after:

1. Saying they'd join and then not join.
2. Letting me know they LOVED the idea and expressed a real interest in joining, then not joining.
3. Joining and then a day or two later never logging on gaia.
4. Joining and then avoiding me, not contacting me or replying back.
5. Take their bloody sweet time to actually get around to submitting (the most basic, simply, single line profile.) They would take so long I would close the RP before they ever mentioned submitting anything.

This is on three occasions and I worked damn hard to make the role play. I worked my a** off to create a original, fun, easy to read and easy to understand role play. I know I did it because people praised me for it, but I couldn't get people to join.

Each time I ended up closing the RP because after a month and a half or longer of promoting, inviting, you name advertising for my RP I got tired of the idea and started to really hate it.

So I find I tend to need friends to join my RPs so that I at least have one or two other players who will actually stay and actually RP and not ditch me.

As for skill I really don't have to many issues with peoples skill and I don't feel I need to test anyone. I know once I talk to someone whether they'll fit my RP or not. I also know that people that can not make it in my RP, will not join period. I dunno I find people have a instinct that tells them they won't last and they shy away from my RP.

I don't even have any real rules, this is it:

Write as little or as much you deem necessary to convey your idea.
Play as many or few characters as suits your needs/desires/plans.
Graphic are not required; if you use them keep them neat, tidy and, most importantly, MINIMAL.

There is no post order, but try not to rush ahead of everyone. Let people have their turn.

PLEASE READ THIS, IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KNOW.

Cardcaptor_Sierra

True. There is only so much ERROR TASTIC POSTS one can deal with. Especially if it is a common, every post every line, occurrence.

Cardcaptor_Sierra

I haven't had this problem in . . . 6 years? But I can agree a sue is a downer and would likely make me pull my hair out.

I agree, there is a time and place for a good RP ********. Gaiaonline is not it. Keep the kinky RPing to emails and IMs. I have nothing against writing a good sex scene, I really, really enjoy it to be honest and I wish I could do it more often. But you don't do that s**t on Gaia (not just because of the rules against it), don't even waste your time necking with someone else's character it's not worth it in the end if you sacrifice progression and story for it.

Do what myself and one other group member for Carmine is doing and writing fiction for the RP! I' m in the middle of writing a sexy time scene for two of our characters because I can't do it in the RP itself, nor can I get away with it on Gaia either. Plus I don't want to give up progression and story just to have my ***** (my group members character is 14 while my character is 22, we agreed it's a-okay, so I'm not stepping on his toes or anything we both like it! XD)

I KNOW I AM CREEPER!

Eh, I don't feel the need to test people. Okay this isn't true, I don't so much test their ability to write or create I give people the benefit of the doubt. I haven't had an issue with it in six years. I figure people are smart enough not to join if they're ********.

My "tests" come in when I talk to people. If I have a "iffy" feeling about a person then I don't let them in and politely send them on their way. I know from first contact, the way person present themselves or the way a person responds to me, whether they'll be a lasting player or not. Then I either let them in or send them away.

But like I've said whatever works for you as a GM do it. I like getting to know people, you don't. I like one style of RP and GMing and you another. Obviously, we both manage to do our RPs and enjoy our RPs (when s**t goes right.) ^__________^'

Yeah, that's the downside of a roleplay that requires a lot of attention from the GM. I got sick, and it got hopelessly stuck.

That's why I'm trying to design this new one to not require a lot of GM intervention, especially once it gets rolling. I'm not planning on getting sick again, xd but, then again, I wasn't exactly planning on it last time.

It has to be on Gaia, so that your account is responsible for whatever is in it (including links to other places). In your Gaia thread, you could link wherever you like, though - or rather, you can do what you like in your thread, so long is it is relevant to this directory (that is, it's actually has something to do with advlit roleplaying, and you're not just selling something), and of course you're responsible for the content.
