Welcome to Gaia! ::

I was planning to write a new journal entry today on thread organization, but was flooded with stuff for the thread. This is a happy tragedy! xd I can always write the journal entry another day.
I should also take a moment to mention my policy on soliciting ads: I will normally only send PMs to people to ask if they would like to add a roleplayer ad... not a roleplay ad.

My reasoning is this: First, my time is limited. xd So I can't send out invitations to everyone.

It is my opinion that someone making a roleplay has more responsibility to be proactive in recruiting than someone who is seeking a one-on-one roleplay. In other words, if you are a roleplay creator, and you are serious about your roleplay being a success, you should go out and find directories (like this one), or other threads to affiliate with. A roleplay creator is not only responsible for creating the roleplay thread and ensuring it runs smoothly, they are also responsible for recruiting.

By contrast, a person seeking a one-on-one roleplay doesn't have any responsibilities like that. It is like the difference between someone who just wants to play poker at home with some guests, versus someone who wants to run an organized poker event for many people: the event organizer is expected to get licences like liquor licences and event licences and sign waivers and so on, but the person who is just playing at home with a few guests is not.

Besides, I expect roleplay creators to keep their ads up-to-date, whereas for one-on-one ads once they're up the person can just forget about them. People take more responsibility for things they go out and get themselves than they do for things that just get dropped in their lap, so I will drop ads into the laps of one-on-one roleplayers, but not into the laps of roleplay creators.

The bottom line is this: no one should be waiting for me to send out an invitation to get into this directory, but I will, from time-to-time, send invitations out to people for one-on-one roleplayer ads. I will never send an invitation to a roleplay.

A side effect of this is that every roleplay in my directory is run by someone that works hard to make their roleplay work - for example, by seeking out a directory to advertise in.
And just to add to that... xd That means that if you know of a roleplay that you think should be on this list, don't tell me (which has been happening so far), tell them.
That is all the time I have for today!

If you are following this thread and you know of any advlit roleplays that are seeking people, tell them to get in touch with me! It will help them, and if you are in that roleplay it will help you, too! Let's try to build a Gaia-wide network - a community - of advanced literate roleplayers and roleplays!

Hello, it's me again. 3nodding

One of the directory's friends told me about a guild she runs:

Oligarchy Protectorate

Oligarchy Protectorate is a reflection of our members sentiment for the old days of casual and outrageously fun, carefree role playing. Though we are a small guild we have a huge heart and love role playing for what it is. Not the massively competitive, flashy, title laden time-suck role playing has become and that we have come to accept as the norm. But rather, we see role playing as a writing game between friend and view ourselves as a friendly community of like minded individuals seeking out the good old days. And even though we allow ourselves the freedom to be playful and cheery, we also pride ourselves on our abilities to paint colourful, avant garde style stories, world and characters.

But our ranks are missing something and that something could be you. If you are looking for an active, friendly, welcoming role playing community then we suggest applying to our guild. We are always seeking new members who are willing to be active participants within our clique, who display a certain level of literary prowess and understanding of syntax. If you feel that is you and that we are what you are looking for, then waste no time fill out and sending in your application.

Oligarchy Protectorate is open to all genres, and all players at all times.
Well, unfortunately, nothing new to add to the directory today. But that's not so bad, considering how much was added last week. xd I'm also not feeling very well, so I'm not really up to writing the next journal entry. I'll get on that soon, thought!

In the meantime, keep those ads coming in! If you're in any advlit RPs that need people, tell the owners to get in touch with me!
Oh my gosh, I didn't get to make a new journal entry again today. crying

But that was because I sent out something like twenty PMs to various people. xd So the day wasn't wasted. I will try to get that new journal entry up tomorrow - it is already written!

Yo.

Would you accept a Role Play that isn't constricted simply to Adv. Lit's? I'm not saying it's a Semi-Lit Rp, far from it actually, but I am NOT requiring only Adv. Lit's to apply. There is no minimum word count, nor paragraph count.
I made it like that so there will be a variety of people, so whether they are semi-lit or adv. lit, only the original and dedicated will be accepted.

(( I'll check out your reply later, if indeed you do reply, for I have work now. -_- ))

The message that I am trying to get across about advliteracy is that ADVLITERACY IS NOT ABOUT SIZE.

An advlit roleplay is not just a semi-lit roleplay with a minimum word count.

An advlit roleplay is a roleplay that creates a deep and immersive world, that is complex and nuanced. The stories in an advlit roleplay are layered and sophisticated, and follow dramatic arcs that result in complicated character development for the characters involved.

If that is what your roleplay involves, then it is welcome to be listed, but that does not sound compatible with what you are talking about. If you want an analogy, try a musical one. Different types of roleplayers are different styles of musicians... not simply musicians that play longer or shorter songs, as you seem to think. An advlit roleplayer might be a classical musician, who prefers technical excellence and nuanced playing. A semi-lit roleplayer might be a blues musician, who prefers simplicity played very loosely, with soul rather than technical precision. You may also end up with other styles, like jazz musicians, who prefer very experimental and eclectic playing, loosely ad-libbed as you go along, and so on. If you throw all of these types of musicians into a pit and tell them to play together, I don't know what you'll get, but it won't be classical, blues or jazz music... if it works at all it will be some kind of novel fusion.

And it might even be really interesting and fun... but it will not be classical music - it will not be advlit roleplaying, which this directory is about.

So what is it you are trying to do? Are you trying to make an advlit roleplay without a minimum word count? Or are you trying to make a semi-lit roleplay with the hopes that some advlit roleplayers might join?

Well, I have finally added that long-overdue journal post. sweatdrop Now I am going to go through the half-dozen or so messages I have gotten - many of which I suspect are requests to be listed. 3nodding
Well, a bunch of new roleplayers have been added! (But again, no roleplays. Come on, roleplay creators! If you need people this is an easy and painless way to get them!) And, sorry Astaisia, but your number one spot has been usurped! xd

Our new advertisers are: Arkarianscribe, Mister Sebastian, Novocain Stain, Supermassive Panda and walikeheke.

As always, if you want your request thread listed in the directory, just PM me and let me know! And if you want your roleplay listed, fill out the form (all I ask for, really, is a synopsis, a few genre keywords, and a banner)!
