tab tab ☇ tab Ryo was born the first child of Emiko and Ryunosuke Kitamura, proprietors of one -and some would say the best- of only a few ramen shops in the small, mountain town of Kanazawa: Ramen Takaya. Emiko's family had lived in Kanazawa for generations, ownership of their small, but traditional shop passed down the line. It was when working at Takaya that she met Ryunosuke, a young man fresh out of culinary school with a face resembling that of a yakuza member. He had recently moved to Kanezawa to be take care of his ailing grandmother, and was in need of a job to support himself. Desperately, he pleaded her father to take him on as an apprentice, and the man -though hesitant due to the boy's appearance- could sense his earnest and took him on as a part time worker. While he had a tough demeanor, his cooking skill shone through, and he was a hard worker in the kitchen. Ryunosuke quickly adapted in the kitchen, and Emiko's father took quite a liking to him, treating the boy as if he was his own son. Emiko spent much of her time working in the shop as a server, and as a result, would see much of Ryunosuke, taking quite a liking to the man, who had a face that didn't quite match his personality. Emiko was a friendly, charming, and witty young woman, and it wasn't very difficult for Ryunosuke to take notice of her, especially when she could approach him so casually, unlike many others who were easily put off by his appearance. Over the next several months, the two fell in love with each other and entered a relationship, with Emiko's father's blessing of course- which came with the threat of death if he were to ever hurt her. Two years after their relationship began, Ryunosuke proposed to Emiko, and they would marry another year later.

Little Ryo was born 4 years after his parents married, a lively baby boy with hair as burning red as his mother's. As a child, he was rambunctious and loud, running all about the house as soon as he had learned how to take his first steps. He became a constant source of worry for his parents, as they could never quite predict when he'd get himself into trouble. A very independent toddler, Ryo was always straying from his mother every chance he got and giving her minor heart attacks, resulting in firm scoldings and tears on both their ends. When school started up for the young child, it wasn't difficult for him to separate from his normal routine and make friends quickly among his schoolmates. It was during kindergarten that he met Sosuke, a small, docile little boy that was being picked on relentlessly. Ryo, being the bold kid he was, quickly took a stand to the bullies, standing up for Sousuke and fighting any other kid that dared challenge him. Sousuke stuck to him like glue afterwards, though Ryo didn't quite mind it; it was like having a cute, little brother. Though it wouldn't be long until his actual younger brother, Reiji (Rei) was born, the second of the Kitamura offspring.

In Elementary school arrived, Ryo was quite a popular little boy, and while he had many friends, he didn't feel a strong bond with other children like the one he had with Sou. With a propensity to say things the wrong way at times, there were times he would make the girls in his class cry, though his teasing was never intended in a bad way. He felt as if others couldn't understand him, though he would certainly try as hard as he could to understand others. He'd stubbornly persist in befriend children who weren't very popular in class, like Ryouji. Though many times he'd be ignored or scowled at, he hadn't minded; he would just grin and try his best to get on Ryouji's good side, dubbing the boy as his friend without any hesitation. When Ada's birthday came along, Ryo dragged along his closest friends, Sou and Ryouji, to the party. The small boy hadn't expected so few from their class to attend, and felt somewhat bad for Addie, who had been forgotten. He had the gift his mother had given him to hand to her, a cute barrette; but he hadn't quite felt so satisfied giving to her. Instead, he settled for making her a gift right there at the party. Grabbing some origami paper from his backpack, Ryo made the young girl all sorts of origami figures, hoping to make her smile. At that birthday party, Ryo had the time of his life, and it was a day he'd never forget. He'd come to befriend all those who attended Addie's birthday parting, holding them all very dear.

Once high school rolled around, Ryo felt he finally reached his prime. He had another baby brother, Rin, the youngest of the Kitamura brothers; though he wasn't much of a older brother figure with his irresponsible nature. He was tall for his age and his hair had grown past his ears; puberty had treated him well and it showed. Girls had begun to pay him attention, and while at times he was clumsy with his words, he could be quite charming and flirty when he wanted. He had no trouble landing himself dates; but his main problem seemed to be committing to a relationship. He accepted just about any confession tossed his way -as long as they were cute, of course- and for a while, he'd be the perfect boyfriend; but if he couldn't find that spark in the relationship, Ryo quickly cut things off. It made many of the girls in his class dislike him quite a bit, but Ryo was a bit of a romantic at heart; and his pessimism would lead him to belief that if he couldn't feel anything for his partner, there was no point in continuing and wasting each other's time.

While he was popular, Ryo spent so much time going out and having fun that he had begun to slack on his schoolwork. His grades were mediocre at best, and he didn't make much of an effort to improve them if he didn't have an interest in the subject. Of course, his friends would hassle him about taking things more seriously, but while they were finding their own interests to pursue, Ryo was feeling stuck in his same old routine. He had no particular interests outside of having fun. He had his hobbies and photography of course, but he was unsure if he even wanted to pursue a career in it, let alone leave Kanazawa to study. Everyone around him was figuring out their lives but he hadn't even taken a step in the right direction. He could work in his family's restaurant, but even then he'd felt like he wanted more out of his life. With no idea what to do with himself or what to study, when it finally came time to make decisions of life after graduation, Ryo decided to enroll in classes at the local community college. With no particular major in mind, he isn't sure what his future has in store for him, though he'll be working in his parents shop until he figures things out. He's envious of many of his friends, whom have figured out what paths they'll be taking. Ryo fears nothing will come of his future, and that he'll be stuck living in Kanazawa without ever discovering who he is. While he has Sou with him in Kanazawa, he still feels suffocated by the belief that he's getting left behind; and hopes this final summer with his friends will be one that will last in his memories always.
