To Be Me Is To Be: Karoline is a hard-a**, pure and simple. She is a very blunt and honest individual who will argue her case until she's proven wrong, and she won't be happy about it when she is. Her sadistic streak is a mile long, and is only outmatched by her rebelliousness. Throughout her life, she was a rebel and a scrapper, so she's not afraid to get into fights. Some people think she likes it. However, there are those times when she will not only fight like she means it, but fight because she does; this is usually when she's been threatened, put down, or watched one of her friends receive similar treatment. She is a trained killer, and is in no way shy about that. Her loyalty to her friends and her cause is one of her strongest suits. She can be trusted, so long as she trusts you. But, if she doesn't, then you'll definitely know it; she would sooner stick a knife in your back than look at you if she thinks you have something to hide. She cannot stand it when people are treated unfairly, which is why she formed the AVD at the start of the Gijinka segregations. To those she actually likes, (and her students,) she can be a warm, considerate person who lets them take priority. But... well, let's just say, if you break the rules, you'll be doing more than writing lines, kid.
My Personal Bedtime Story: Karoline was born in Kanto, in the city of Vermillion. Throughout her life, she always had a rebellious streak; she never ate her green vegetables, even though she actually liked them, and she stayed up late with the music turned up loud just to piss off her neighbours. Her parents separated when she was seven, but for the years preceding their divorce, she was always drawn into their fights and shouted both in front of and about. She would never actually admit it, but when she was seven, and her parents had their last fight, she was the one to stand up and shout back for the first time, stating that if they hated each other so much, they shouldn't be married. As if to follow her advice, her father handed over the custody rights to her mother and left the very next day.

After that, her mother decided they were better off without him, and became a successful merchant in the city. Karoline then studied about Pokémon and how to be a trainer under the watchful eye of the local Gym Leader, Lt Surge. She excelled in her trainer skills and by the time she was 10, she was already well on the way to becoming a master in her own right. She had two Pokémon, her Skarmory, Artimus, and her Pawniard, Alexander. At the age of 13, she decided to leave Vermillion City and Surge's tutelage to study in Olivine under Jasmine, due to her strong affinity with Steel-Type Pokémon. The manner in which she left Surge's charge was... undesirable, though. Surge claimed that she was repaying his kindness with a betrayal, and that she was just trading him up for a better choice. In response, they battled, Karoline's pair of Steel-types against his team of Electrics. It took over two hours, but Karoline eventually won their battle and left, saying farewell to her mother and boarding the ferry to Johto.

But, when she arrived at Olivine's gym, she realised that she was in over her head. Jasmine was the real deal when it came to Steel-Types, and when she proposed to become her apprentice, Jasmine challenged her to another battle to assess her skills. But, Karoline had neglected to let her Pokémon rest before arriving, so their fight was short-lived. She left, disgruntled and filled with hatred for the gym leader. She went around the country of Johto over the next year, training herself and her Pokémon, while fighting the gyms of the region as she went. Alexander soon evolved into a Bisharp, and when she considered herself to be ready, she returned to Olivine City and claimed her eighth badge. She completely decimated Jasmine in their battle, through the use of her alternative strategies that went beyond the realms of moves and stats.

She never did challenge the League, though; she decided against that when she beat Jasmine. Her vendetta against the Gym Leader was done with. Now aged 16, Karoline just started to travel. She wasn't concerned with battling except when necessary, and she didn't really care about becoming a Pokémon master anymore. Instead, she found work at a local carnival, where she was surrounded by performers who worked so well with their Pokémon in their displays and their shows. After a year of being an assistant, the 18-year-old Karoline became a performer of her own with Alexander and Artimus. They drew in most of the crowds, and became a massive hit amongst the carnival's target cities.

But, that was as far as it went. The day of the Cataclysm, Karoline fell from the trapeze that she had incorporated into her act, suddenly going limp and falling unconscious. She didn't know what happened after that, but when she woke up, the net that she should have fallen on was shredded, and people were screaming. She was dragged to the ringleader's carriage, where she was examined by a doctor, who couldn't make heads or tails of it. When Karoline finally discovered what had happened, she went insane with anger and confusion. She fled the carnival and took off, going into hiding and seclusion. It took her months just to make heads or tails of what had happened, and when she started hearing Artimus's voice in her head, it almost drove her mad.

Then, when she finally returned to civilisation two months later, she couldn't believe what she saw; there were other people like her, and they were being torn apart by humanity. Karoline had never felt more angered than she did at that moment. She attacked several human facilities, on her own, using her biological weaponry to tear the place apart. She then witnessed the fall of the HAPFL, and formed the Avian Variety Display with other Flying-Type Gijinka, to make sure that the Hunters were taken down. And then, when the Sins of Man rose, you can guess how quickly she sided with Osakura. But, not for the sake of her duty as a counter-terrorist, but for her hatred of Pride, her former mentor.

As the Sins fell, one by one, Karoline was the one who personally tossed Pride into the clutches of the authorities. She spent the next few years on Osakura, until the population of Gijinka started to rise. Taking from the example set by Larson Hearse, she moved to Saffron City and founded the AVD Institute, and over the next three years settled into her position as the Headmistress. Her rivalry with Osakura, surprisingly, isn't one founded on hatred or anger, but just a way of getting her pupils to excel. She should know better than anyone that the way to bring the best out in someone, is by giving them something to oppose.
The Many Ways I Could Kill You: As the fusion of a Skarmory, Karoline is able to utilise its whole type list. Her growing TM collection is also helping her become more powerful. She is also capable of incredibly swift and agile flight, so fast that she can and does leave a trail behind her like a jet. Her armour is nigh on unbreakable, and she can use her metal feathers as projectile weapons, which soon grow back within a few minutes. Her hands and feet are adorned with incredibly sharp and strong claws, and her muscles have increased in strength incredulously. Karoline is also a very dextrous and limber person, giving her incredibly agility in battle. She has weapons training in longswords and throwing knives. She also possesses one Pokémon, her Bisharp, Alexander.

Additional Appearance Information: Karoline usually wears a belt around her hips, loose, which contains minor explosives. Call it a habit more than anything.
