C - I like traditional forms in kung fu movies, Drunken boxing I like but I only use it for fun, its not really effective unless Im rping it to make it so. Wing chun, everybody in the modern martial arts hates it and calls it bullshit but if you take certain things from it...its awesome...

I mean, the thing about it is C. is that...If traditional forms were effective, they arent any more due to the destruction placed on them by the communist chinese government and the destruction given to them by bad teachers.

They may have worked at one time, but these days they just dont. Hebi(snake) quan, must have had something to it at one point but due to it being mangled by bad teachers and bad cross training invironments...it doesnt work in the modern MMA scene.

I theorize that the shaolins form of martial arts in actual combat looked like a combination of shan shou and chinese wrestling...but they used thoughs weird looking forms to practice balance and posture. They didnt have exact styles related to the five animals, I believe instead they represented certain martial stratagies, that may have changed the stance slightly...

Things like drunken boxing, was probrably just something that was made by some drunk san shou type martial arts master, and figured out that people coudnt really tell what he was doing when he fought drunk and that he coudnt feel pain.

Though we all know the wushu representation of drunken boxing cannot be done drunk.

I guess times do changes. Teachings of traditional chinese forms are lacking so i think thats one of the main reason its poorly used in combat sports today...

Or maybe it was Bruce's fault lol. Nobody came with the concept of MMA before Bruce. Bruce came in with JKD and created MMA's, and bang! MMA is the biggest art/form today.

In my opinion, its not that the traditional forms arent effective against MMA. You just have to know your s**t. Hell im sure a pretty sure a kung fu guy can kick a MMA'tist with Wing Chun. He just have to be really good and know what he or she is doing.

...So until

traditional chinese martial arts start cross training with

BJJ, muay thai, wrestling, sambo, kyokushin, MMA guys...

Traditional forms cant develop.

THATS the thing there. The thing that should be worked on.

But problem is, like you said, some are too elitist to even try.

And i heard that Musashi name somewhere in games...Thought it was just some japanese swordsman.

No he was the bruce lee before bruce lee ever existed...
