It is one of the most prestigious schools in the world, normally open only to the children of royalty and noblemen from a dozen countries, and even then only if they pass the rigorous entrance standards. But the new headmistress of Emerald Hills Academy has a vision that will change this historic institution for the new age of entertainment and celebrity. For the first time ever, Emerald Hills Academy has sent out invitations to rising young stars of screen, stage, music, art and the written word, offering them a unique educational experience intended to nurture their natural talents, and make them grow. At the same, some of the most off-beat and quirky teachers have been hired to teach them. It’s an experimental program, designed by the mysterious eclectic genius who has taken over as headmistress, and it’s a risky gamble. If it fails, it could destroy the careers of some of the most promising creative talents in the world and the already shaky careers of the teachers hired. If it succeeds... the possibilities are endless.
But what is the program? What does the mysterious headmistress have planned for her students and the teachers? And, is it to teach them about more than just how to be the best at their chosen form of creativity?

Emerald Hills Academy is a school roleplay with several unique features. It is set at a secluded school in the northern part of England, and populated by students who are among the most artistically gifted people their age in the world. At the same time, the teachers are all teachers that were on the verge of losing their careers for one reason or another. For the teachers, Emerald Hills represents one last chance to salvage failing careers. For the students, failure at Emerald Hills could put an end to a marvellous artistic career before it even begins.
But what makes Emerald Hills Academy even more unique is the Headmistress: a shadowy NPC who issues edicts that may shuffle student room assignments around, assign certain teachers to mentor certain students, or just about anything to shake things up at the school. Because of that, Emerald Hills Academy will never stagnate, and never grow dull.

As long as you have been trained in some sort of field of dancing, we will accept you. Our choreographers and teachers at the school also have a huge range of knowledge about the styles, so we most likely can find someone who will match your own style.

It starts when you find a mysterious gift-wrapped package in an impossible place. In your locked car, in your locker at school, or lying right next to you on your bed when you wake up in the morning even though you live alone.
You puzzle for a moment over how it could have possibly gotten there, but then, since it is addressed to you by name, you open it. Inside is a single small gem, and a note.
The note says:

Strange, you think, but who can argue with getting a precious stone from nowhere? Maybe you choose to ask around among the people you know, trying to find out where the gem came from. No one knows.
Funny thing, though... whenever you hold the gem you feel... energized.
Then, you start to notice the changes. Your reflexes become quicker. Your balance improves. Your hand-eye coordination increases. Your metabolism kicks into overdrive. Old injuries and pains disappear. If you wore glasses, you suddenly find you no longer need them. Diseases like asthma, diabetes and cancer just... vanish. The more you carry the gem around, the more amazing you feel.
But none of those are the most spectacular of the changes. Whenever you have the gem on hand, you are able to do miraculous things, like move very quickly, manipulate the environment in strange ways, lift very heavy things... or maybe even fly.
At first, it's all amazing... but then strange things start happening. You start getting the feeling that you're being watched, and maybe your home gets ransacked. You realize that... someone or something is out there, and is interested in you and your gifts. You realize that your life may be in danger... and so you consider the advice of the mysterious message:
To seek out your brothers and sisters.
Paragon is a roleplay with a modern setting, people with superhuman abilities, and a mystery. The powers are limited so that no one person can act alone - players must cooperate to get by. There is also a special event system: behind the scenes, there are several groups conspiring and acting on mysterious motives, and every once in a while those events interact with the roleplay. And an ever-ticking clock that makes the time periods chance, so the roleplay can never get stuck.
