Just the Basics
Name: John "Otacon" Hancock
Birthday: 10/31/41
Age: 22
Gender: Male.
Nationality: American.
Profession: Otacon is a scientist who is renowned for designing the software that links the female pilots to the Macross, allowing them to control them at a speed faster than what they could react at with their own bodies. While this isn't his only accomplishment in the profession, it's what people remember him by. Being a veteran programmer, he has also come up with a wide variety of other softwares that he wanted to use within the Macrosses, but they were all generally put aside as a waste of time and money.
While unknown to his superiors, he took the liberty of uploading the software anyways for his own private use. With it, he's able to monitor the brain activity of the pilots while they are connected, and any information that's transmitted between the two is stored into an external hard drive for him to scan over later. Another software he only placed into one of the Macrosses, but when connected to the female pilot, it actually creates a makeshift, perma-link, between her and the communications device he has set up. It alters the path of communication in the brain minorly, creating a form of telepathy that connects her to a special signal that only he currently will transmit. He can use this to talk to the woman, entirely within her head without anyone else hearing, however, she still needs to speak for him to hear her. He calls it a "codec", inspired by what was considered a classic game for his generation, known commonly as "Metal Gear Solid."

Physical Traits
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 135lbs
Eye Color: Greenish-gray
Hair: Milk chocolate colored brown
Physique: Otacon's body is rather lean. There are no real noticeable muscles to him, even when flexing he may be so lucky to get a bicep to flex in a downwards loop, which the conundrum. Being lean, however, does not mean he is nothing but a skeleton. There isn't a mistake that flesh does exist on his bones, and surprisingly for a nerd such as himself his skin is well colored. His shoulders are usually kept a bit out from where they'd normally be, considering he tends to slouch a lot more than other people as he stares at the ground while he moves, using the floor like a giant blank page to mentally scribe code into. However, he tends to keep his legs straight and firm, rather than the opposite which would be wobbly and shaky in the knees. Even when standing as perfectly as possible his feet tend to want to point out to the sides, rather than straight ahead, having tried many times to code it into his body by leaving them pointing ahead, they'd always fall back into position once his mind would leave the thought to process something else. His hair is usually kept rather messy, but it appears that way on purpose. While brushing it, he'll swipe the thing all around to make his hair stick in any which way, giving off the appearance of bed hair, but he lets it grow long, so in the back, he always has his own little pony tail going.
That has a story in itself, but he barely speaks of it. In his spare time while sitting alone and thinking, or at any time when he begins to space out, he'll naturally pull it around and slowly run his fingers down it, as if to recreate a scene physically to draw out the full potential of what his mind is capable of. Other habit he tends to have will be much more common ones, such as twirling a pencil/utensil, gnawing on the eraser or back or it, snapping gum, blowing bubbles, and sticking his fork straight into a piece of steak pretending it's the Master Sword sheathed in stone.
His clothing rarely varies these days in the "sanctity" of L.O.V.E. He garments a long-sleeved dress shirt, made of some fiber or whatnot he tends to simply be unaware of. The collar is always kept down, except in his free time and he happens to find a mirror. He'll pop the collar, and simply look at himself and state aloud, "Not now chief, I'm in the ******** zone!" The long sleeves however, tend to either both be pulled up beyond his elbows, or one will be while another is not. The shirt is never tucked in, even at meetings, once in a while he will try to make the attempt to do so, but will only manage half in. The shirts don't much vary either, one has light blue stripes, another is plain, a third may be more of a brown with lighter brown spots, or maybe he just imagined it.
Pants are commonly just back slacks, nothing too special. He still has a pink mini skirt tucked away, from when he was "initiated" into the group of scientists. Otacon can't remember what happened, but he made sure to throw the lip stick out, the most curious thing was, it was wedged between his cheeks when he woke up and smelled awful... Oh god.
Shoes can be accepted as the just a shiny pair of black shoes. They never get scuffed, mostly because he's staring at them while moving, so they're always carefully examined to avoid any injury. On more casual days, he'll wear some slippers. The kind? The only one that should exist. Soft pink little bunny slippers. Rather than being ridged at the bottom, their quite smooth, making sliding his way around the base that much more convenient. Time is money, of course.
Tattoo's, Scars and Other Markings: While his body remains without scars, once in a while he finds it amusing to wear fake tattoos on his body. One such instance is that he'll place a few tear or rain drop tattoos under his eyes, scaring anyone who hasn't met or known him previously into thinking he's a murderer. Which, he will follow up with, by carrying around a large knife at his side.To those who have met and actually felt the horridly blunt stab of this plastic weapon of mass destruction, they have not lived to seen another day. No, really, a plastic knife is mad serious.
Charades like this eventually became less common as everyone came to know Otacon. Otherwise the tattoos he wears will other just be for looks, or he'll use it to entertain himself by pretending to be what the tattoo is or can be closely mocked to.
There's only one special marking on his body that could separate him from anyone else, and that's the odd appearance of two heart shaped birth marks connected by the tip on the back of his right hand. He's not a large fan of their appearance there, but gloves are simply less appealing to him than nothing at all, but make no mistake he will attempt to hide them given the chance. Whether stashed away in his pockets, underneath an object, or making it too difficult to see correctly by typing away at his keyboard.
On the Inside
Personality: Otacon has a rather unpredictable and moody attitude. It's not as though he's ever angry, or upset, but his equivalents are lazy and playful respectively. One day he could be lazy and not do much of anything but look over his code and other information. The next day, he could be all over the walls and messing with a person's head for simple amusement. There is a serious side to things, when they actually are serious, which becomes quite difficult when you're a scientist for the military, and not one who's captured and pissing in a corner with a cyborg ninja staring you down with his sword.
This is, however, the contrast to how he'd want to be. His counterpart, being the game version from MGS, which he more or less stole the name from, was a lot more reserved in his attitude. While that Otacon had a lot more serious to him, there's a lot more jazz to this one. An Otacon 2.0 basically. Now with upgraded awesomesauce. There's little way to control how he reacts, but one thing will remain constant. His never ending hatred and impatience for a specific variety of human beings: idiots.
You could be one gorgeous woman, with a perfect and well-scaled sized assets, but with any sense of stupidity to you, he simply will mentally equate you to what would be garbage. Garbage can't talk, last he checked, therefore anything you then will say can be ignored, or rebutted with a strike at just how terrible you are at life.
This, is all just naturally how he is. Some of which stems from his strong pursuit of trying to be a video game designer, having played many before, he tended to adapt to some of their goofy personalities that generally make no sense. His hatred of those with poor intelligence, was probably just pent up anger versus his older brother. Who, may not have been the brightest of the bunch, certainly was a typical muscle head. The proof being his enlisting into the army, or the marines, maybe airforce, such information wasn't important enough for John to really care for.
Sexual Preference: Female.
Biography: Otacon lived a simple childhood, and much like every other male in his family, he somehow did not share the same surname with anyone else. His father was known as Whee Thard Ed, and his brother was Mi Hard Rod. Otacon's question was never answered as a young man, as to why everyone appeared to have completely different names. His mother, having married in of course, had a completely normal name. June Ed, taking his father's surname.
For most of his childhood, Otacon found himself glued to the computer or a gaming console. He was absolutely fascinated with how things ran, although once he took something apart it needed to be rebuilt, a skill he was poor at. To him, the insides almost all looked the same, and unattractive, which pushed him away from the hardware aspect of technology in itself. While being one bored gamer he came across an old game series, which he found accidentally while looking for a new kind of pornography that involved machines. This was called "Metal Gear Solid." Using emulators on his PC, he began to dive into the series and play through each of the four console games, skipping the hand held versions because they held no validation in most game series he believed. He fell in love with the scared but highly intelligent Otacon the moment he made an appearance in the first game, pissing himself next to a locker when a cyborg ninja cornered him. Throughout the series Otacon played a strong role with Solid Snake, creating devices for him and giving him advice in what he should do, always from afar, always safe, but always knowing. The kind of person John wanted to be, always knowing.
His brother hardly shared the same enthusiasm when John one night announced at the dinner table that he was to be called Otacon from then one. Mostly because Mi was a major athlete, and therefore found a sick joy in tormenting his nerdy younger half. It was, also at the time, falsely placed because John had never even been to an anime convention. With this in mind, Mi made quick work of tormenting John at every turn. From classical wedgies to more complicated pranks that would be triggered from simply opening a door and springing a boxing glove in his face. The parents tended to stay out of this, boys will be boys.
Going into his teenage years, Otacon found a lot more peace, as his brother enlisted into the military. Which branch, he never found out, but for informational purposes it was the Marines. With this sense of peace, Otacon was finally able to pick up a book and read when he pleased, without fear of it catching on fire or it suddenly vaporizing when he touched it. From here, he began to pick up on computer programming, and started by recreating an old virus in a new way. Using an old letter from his brother stating where he was currently at, Otacon managed to put a worm into their computer files there, and eat away at the information they had on his family. When the file was nowhere to be found, a new one appeared, titled as "YoUr BaSe", and within it the virus. However, accessing the folder wasn't so simple, as touching it brought the screen blank, and creating audio that was consistently murmur tauntingly, "All your base are belong to us." It was eventually fixed, though it took some time for them to even realize what was going on. Because of this, they had to inject Mi with his shots again and get the information on him all over again, as it seems the worms ate away at the back ups as well, locating all duplicates of the information over their network and destroying them.
Being a computer geek of sorts, it was rare for him to see the sunlight. Whenever he did step outside, it seemed the little amount of sun he got was enough to give him color so he did not appear ghostly. One of these times he stepped outside, he happened to come across a beautiful girl. John who was home schooled because of his simply pure hatred of stupid people in the classroom, hadn't seen a growing young woman before. With her curves and lovely assets, it was hard not for the young stud to not try to take the opportunity to get with her. His approach was all wrong. At first it went smoothly as they exchanged greetings, but perhaps he should've but his stick into park rather than drive, because it didn't take her long to notice what he was after. A simple lump in his appearance caused him to lose, what was in his mind, an easy and decisive victory. That point onward, he began to look into etiquette, and how to properly deal with women. If there was ever another chance, he did not want to lose it, but it's not so far out to say that he'd still panic a bit, being so sheltered he still has little to no experience with women.
At seventeen, Otacon found his way into college for game designing. He switched majors in the first year, seeing as there was a lot more to it than he gave credit for, and he'd have to work with people who did not share his ideas. This time, he pursued computer programming, an art he had already perfected. All he felt he really learned from this was simple terminology, things that a programmer did not need. He did pass top of his class, and being at the name of Yale helped him greatly. Otacon never questioned it, though, how he got into such a high class school. Little to his knowledge, his father was quite wealthy having been an engineer, but he never knew due to the lack of interest in his father.
During his third year, the outbreak suddenly occurred, and all students were sent back home to avoid large outbreaks at the school. A letter reached him, at about the same time he did, stating that Mi was infected and died while stationed over seas. That's what it said, but Otacon had a hard time believing it, whether it was sneaking suspicions or his denial that his jackass older brother could've died to something so simple. His father ended up next on this list, as a week later his father began to simply fade away in front of his eyes. Otacon shed some tears, but wasn't so passionate towards most anyways. His father finally answered a question that was asked over a decade ago, why the obscure names? The truth was as simple and ridiculous as you'd think. Their whole family named their children whatever they felt like, for humorous purposes. If it wasn't for the disease eating away at his father, Otacon might have killed him right then and there. What was done was done, though, so he finally took his leave back to college, this time with a mask around his face that was being mass produced at that time. He finished it without anymore interruptions.
He found himself suddenly wrapped in the military's grip. They needed him for their purposes of destroying the aliens. He wasn't sure how he could help at first, until they started lining out his role in the plan. Once they did, he was interested enough to comply without any complaints about being taken against his will. It was there he found the resources to perfect his program that could link the users mind to the Macrosses and take actions just as quick as their minds could produce them. He also wanted to design weapons, but they simply wouldn't allow him, so in that free time he developed what he called the codec to be installed into one of the women piloting a Macross, the program that would monitor brain activity, and store information from them and the Macross into an external hard drive. He had many other small variations of these programs, but had to sneak them all in himself as the military found them ill-suited for their purposes. Otacon found himself creating a game on his laptop, however it may looked like a game, but it hacked into the Macrosses so he could manually control them if the time ever needed.
Otacon worked closely with the girls to monitor their mental activity to make a program that would use their minds to control the machines, rather than destroy them. It was each day during each of their training that he had to be their and examine their mental activity, pressure, strain, and usage. The program needed to adapt to each one respectively without mixing or blending any of the information, which would then reject the user. Even at night, there was how calm and at ease their minds would become, how little brain activity occurred. If the situation arose where they needed to sleep within the machines, it needed to be able to detect even minor pulses, as to not shut off on them and leave them entirely helpless on this mission. Once everything had been perfected, it wasn't long until the girls and machines were sent along their way, and Otacon had the best nap ever.
Abilities: Otacon has two things that are "powerful" about him. First is his photographic memory, this itself is self explanatory. The second is that he's able to adapt extremely quickly to new things. Being environments, programming language, games, and so forth. Anything he begins to put his mind to, he can appear to become an expert almost instantly, but it's not that it remains that way. He still needs to experience it, over and over, before he actually is, just for brief periods of time when introduced to something new he has what looks like a lucky streak where most everything is done right.
Likes: Technology, pickle juice, video games.
Dislikes: Fat women, jell-o, spiders.
Fears: Heights, the virus, being caught by his superiors.
Who I've lost: Mi Hard Rod - Brother. Whee Thard Ed - Father
