The war.

The war was all that anyone and no one would talk about. It was the only eventuality that could remain certain and unknown. “What are you doing tomorrow?” one friend might ask another over the telephone. “I was considering a trip to Macy’s,” the second friend would reply, leaving room for the words, “If it permits”. The ‘it’ of course was that tiny threat that nudged people every day, the idea that something could go wrong and no one would be able to do a thing to stop it. Ah, yes, the eventuality of nuclear holocaust came too soon in this world, but there was no stopping the hands of fate now. The United States had unleashed the first atomic bomb, other countries were quick to mimic, and now, the entire world was just waiting, waiting for tempers to flare and the day that their sky would become enflamed, smoky, and then, there was the darkness, the loss of hope, the despair. Everyone was waiting for the end.

The threat would never truly disappear, but there would be things that could stop it. From the inside. Spies, super soldiers, the things only in comic books. Perhaps the ideas of science fiction spurred the government leaders, nevertheless, the projects popped up, slowly, quietly. No one knew anything else, other that there needed to be a new asylum built in their town, but that was the idea. No one wanted to question the unpleasant things in life. The buildings went up, sand colored buildings with slim slits for windows, bars, and barbed wire, where the criminally insane would be locked away. The buildings raised no attention, as no one wanted to know they were there. The entire world was happier just pretending.

Inside this building, time has been lost to the occupants. They are kept on tight leashes, all of them, all monitored carefully for any changes. But what sort of changes could happen in an asylum? Ah, but what better place for the government to create their perfect little soldiers? And what better people than those who had already lost their minds in the eyes of society? No one was looking for them, no one cared if they got out or not. It would all be very quiet, so quiet that even the most paranoid of conspiracy theorists wouldn’t be able to detect a thing. In the beginning, there were fourteen. But Envy got too jealous and tried to kill Greed. Greed didn’t like that, and as a part of his cunning nature to get anything he wants in life, told Wrath. Wrath took it a step too far, and went after not only Envy, but her best friend, Gluttony, as revenge. He ripped Gluttony’s throat out first, and let a delighted Pride watch, making Envy watch to suffer for her sins. And then there was Kindness, sweet Kindness, the sweetest stalker that you would ever find- you see, he really did love his victims to death- didn’t take to the procedures well. He was the first to be injected, and the first to die. Abstinence died in more cynical hands –sometimes, Lust just got a little too rough. Lust was duly punished for her disobedience.

Now, there are ten. Five doctors, all maniacal, twisted, sadistic in their own way. Five patients, all criminals, perfectly sane, and ready to escape. Because, the treatments are working. Slowly, but surely, they are working, changing our victims into something they are not. The shock therapy twists their desires into that which they were created for. The medicines only enforce this behavior. The drugs have given them abilities that border supernatural, but the treatment is no longer limited to the patients, no! The doctors want a taste of this godship too. And their treatments are growing stronger and stronger, as the rush to finish increases. The perfect criminals are being morphed into the perfect soldiers. The twisted doctors are being morphed into the new criminals. Welcome to Saint Dymphna’s Asylum for the Criminally Insane.

I really hate these things, so let's try to keep this simple. We've been around Gaia and we know the roleplaying rules, so the main thing is don't be an idiot. Outside of that, there are the general rules. So, respect is a big thing. Respect my roleplay, respect each other, makes things work out easier. Godmodding and cybering are both no's, so please, keep your s**t PG-13. Proper grammar is a must in IC posts. Obey ToS and follow general roleplay etiquette. As aforementioned, you've been on Gaia before. Don't be stupid.

Now for the posting guidelines. Ooc posts are nice, because knowing that your roleplayers haven't died is always a positive. Abandon my roleplay, and I will haunt you. Okay, not really, but on a serious note, I will completely cut you off. I do not like when people ditch characters in the middle of my roleplay. It strikes a nerve, sorry. Your posts will have a 500 word minimum, because, seriously? You can write and post that on a cellphone. You will also proofread your posts before you put them up cause nobody likes typos. And while experimenting with perspective is fun, third person is what we're going to use, italicized thoughts and bolded words, separate colors for each, respectively. Also, your posts will not be plain. I expect at least an image. So you can't do graphics? I'm a photoshop junkie. So you can't code for s**t? I'm also a coding junkie. Help will be given! If you don't plot with anybody in the roleplay, don't b***h when your character is left out. That's entirely your own fault. Oh, yes, and I believe in posting schedules. If you don't follow it, your charrie shall be NPC'd, end of subject.

And if you got through posting ( which I swear was the longest spiel I had ) then we're on to reservations! You will be sending on PM to three people. But trust me, we talk a lot and you'll only be getting one reply. The title will be "Suck my Kiss", mostly because that song makes me think of Justice. In this PM, there will be a link to two samples that you have for us, and a brief explanation of why you want the role, and if you're feeling wild, maybe you can give us a feel for your character. So then, just sit back and wait for a reply, which will usually happen within 48 hours. From then, you have ten days to make your profile and then send it to me, xox__g r e y bear, with two 100 x 100 icons - one of your character and the other of something representing their sin/vice- for the pretty character pages. Profiles, quick painless and simple. You've got ten days. Make a new posting thread and go wild. Okay, maybe not wild. The specific profile requirements are in the next post. Collaboration is love though. It makes things juicier. This is the skeleton for the virtues, and this is the one for the sins, should you chose to use them.

Limitations will be the shortest thing here. The only rule is pg-13. Violence will be pg-13. Gore will be pg-13. Smut will be pg-13 and anything beyond that will not be in my roleplay. If you must do it, I don't care where, but it's not on Gaia. Or if you must write it, write it in that tasteful way that won't get my thread banned. What do romance and ramen have in common? They both leave a bad taste in my mouth. What don't they have in common? Ramen is instant and romance is not. Oh, if I left it out, this is a pg-13 thread. I wasn't joking about pg-13. I'm not even going to repeat it here, because you get the idea.

And finally, the things that I didn't get the chance to post above. Hate the character, not the roleplayer. If you have an issue with someone, take it outside of my thread. I don't want to hear about it here, hell, I don't even want to know it happened. In case you thought I was joking about pg-13, I wasn't. FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS. That makes the roleplay better. And open communication is love. Finally, please, have fun. This is my second horror-esque roleplay and I intend to see it through to the end.

One. What's the time period?
Although based in a somewhat alternate reality, we're sticking to the 1964 as the technology cut off.

Two. How long have the group been locked away?
Start of the roleplay will be going on a year

Three. So what about these super power things?
So glad you asked! Basically, each Virtue is given a power via the experimentation. Just one power, although one power can have various effects, such as the telepath who can hear thoughts, force people to do his will, and use people as puppets. I'm trying to avoid the "god complex" here, so pick your powers wisely. Also, with each power there must be associated weaknesses. Just remember that the Virtues need to have powers that would help them in the military. And as for the Sins? Well, they're just a greedy bunch of assholes, so go wild. But please, let's try to keep some diversity in this, yes? This site should give you some help, if you're a little stuck.

Four. And the setting is where?
Well, to stick with the theme, let's go with Lovejoy, Colorado.
