☆ Under The Surface
- Personality: Helaku is first and foremost protective of the pack, the alpha, and the young pup he is raising. He looks for the threat in everything, analysing the situation with a keen eye while ready to take on anything that dares to challenge him. He has been called snippy mostly when one of the apprentices do something that puts them in harm's way. The brute can't be everywhere at once, and expects each member of the pack to value their lives at least half as much as he does. Helaku is also extremely honest, he see's no point in sparing anyone's feelings in order to alter the truth. It would be best not to ask him anything unless you are sure you can handle the full, unsoftened, truth. This brute is a vicious enemy, and a loyal friend.
Biography: Helaku was born into the Cashile pack, as was his family for as far back as any of them could ever remember. His parents were both warriors, and did everything they could to turn him into the perfect copy of themselves. Despite their attempts, the adventerous pup was born as a natural scout, always poking his nose around in things he shouldn't have been getting into and barking at anything that seemed to be out of place. He had always been more observant than even a handful of the packs more experienced scouts. Some say that's how he knew his father was going to die. Somewhere between six and seven months the young pup began sticking close to his father's side. Everywhere you saw the older brute, his son followed, looking almost identical to his father. Helaku was only seven months old when his father passed from some unknown disease. After that, his mother began to build a distance between herself and her son. She said he should make friends, but Helaku knew that his resemblance to his father was too much for the fae's fagile heart to bear.
He started spending a lot of time with one of the other pups, they were the same age, they got along, and she was pretty, not that how pretty she was mattered at their age. Her name was Artemis, and they became close friends. Even when Helaku's mother died, most likely of a broken heart, she was the one he confided in. Luckily by the time both of his parents were gone, he was one and able to fend mostly for himself. As the pair neared the age to become apprentices, Helaku remembers being excited, finally he would be able to become a scout, and after that, every day would be an adventure for him. That's when Artemis's visions started getting severe and he finally pieced together that she would be the Alpha one day. Even though it wasn't her fault, she was almost everything the young wolf had, and he refused to ever let anything happen to her. That's how he became a warrior. He told everyone it was to bring honor to the memory of his parents, and he was good at it, after all, it was in his blood to have a mild sense of brutality.
Helaku finished his training with flying colors, pinning his mentor and ending the test with a low snarl before the two minute mark had even hit. It surprised the older wolf, but it surprised Helaku more. He knew he was ready, he had just never realized how quickly he could react to a situation. He lived out the next nine months being the best warrior he could be, all while making sure Artemis was safe and happy, even with the unfortunate death of her father. He remembers thinking it must have been horrible for her to be the one to have to lead his vigil. Everything in his life seemed normal, it was stable and for once he didn't have to worry about what crazy thing would happen next. And then the craziest thing of all happened.
His eyes were barely open when Helaku found him, and honestly, the brute is still surprised he did step on the pup. It was supposed to be an innocent walk to Polaris Cave, a simple game of "where has Art gone today?" and something made him stop. All paws planted firmly in the ground the brute looked down and saw the brown and black ball at his feet. After nosing at it, pushing the pup around the leaves a bit, he finally realized it was a wolf, not one from his pack, but definetly a wolf. He didn't even hesitate what had to be done. It was out of breeding season, too late in the year to have a new pup, everyone who had been allowed was enjoying their newest additions to the family. Game over. Helaku had scooped the fluff ball into his broad jaws and carried him back to the den site, challenging any wolf that tried to come near him until Artemis came back. It was probably the only time in his life he had ever asked the fae for a favor, and for some unknown reason, she had complied. It was made clear that the pup was his responsibilty, and just like that, Helaku had found himself a little brother. The two haven't been seen seperate since.
Ambition: He would like to make it to at least Beta before his death.
Fact: He's loved Artemis since they were young, he has told no one except Moki.
