You would think that when a child is orphaned at birth, they would be put into the adoption system. Yet this was not the case for 54 children.
Taken from the hospitals, birth certificates replaced with files of still births. The children were raised in a secret hospital until they were five years old, never told what the medicine they were being given was for, nor being informed of what was in the food they ate, though they learned later on: the medicine gave them powers. Nothing so fancy as to be able to become superman, though some could levitate, but powers nonetheless. When the children turned five, the training and discovering of these new powers began. Learning how to shoot a gun, to use various weapons, discovering their powers, learning how to escape from sticky situations, and to pilot various vehicles. Then, when they turned ten, they were given a card. The cards looked like a normal card, something you would find in a deck. But the cards were everything to the children. The cards were something they, and only they, owned, something to take care of. More importantly, these cards identified their rank, the highest of them being the Joker, and her officials the King, Queen, Ace, and Jack. The lowest cards are the twos, but every card is powerful and should never be underestimated.

This organization was created on an island in the middle of the ocean in hopes of one day being able to destroy the government that dictated the mainland and the surrounding islands. But they were exposed; the president of the land, called Estan, destroyed all that was on the island. But he forgot to account for what might be underneath it...

User Image

A single girl survived, the daughter of the man who had been the leader of the small organization. When rebels from the mainland came to see if there was anything left, she was all they found, but she had something they did not: information. Under her guidance, they began sorting a new deck of cards, using her knowledge to replicate and perfect the process of creating cards. Roughly sixteen years later, she now stands as the position of Joker, ready to destroy the man who turned her father into ashes.

Black boots hit the pavement with a clack as the pilot exited the cockpit. She wore a black full body suit that hugged her every curve. She pulled down the zipper in the front, revealing the white tank top underneath, and she reached up, removing her helmet. Stunning white hair fell down to her knees, and she pushed her bangs out of her face as she handed the helmet to one of many workers working as ground crew for the runway. He thanked her for the good work and then went on to check the jet. The girl headed over to one of many terminals on the edge of the runway to report her return and the success of her mission. She hit the screen where it said 'Return', which was underneath 'Departure'. She hit a few more buttons as they appeared on the screen, all-too-familiar with this pattern, and finally something appeared on the screen:
Welcome back, Joker.
TMC: 497

She hit 'end registration' and then headed for the door leading inside. She slid her pilot's glove off of her right hand and pressed it against the scanner, then she headed inside while removing her left glove. She pressed her hand to another scanner, then entered the girl's locker room, going to Locker 1. She reached into her tanktop and pulled a card from a pocket inside of it, pulling it out and scanning it on the locker door, which unlocked. She replaced the card, then she proceeded to remove her pilot's uniform, hanging it up inside the locker, placing the boots on the bottom of the locker. She removed a black skirt, pulled it on in a quick, fluid movement, and then put on the button-down short-sleeved shirt. She took her time buttoning it up before she removed a black cardigan from the locker, tossing it over her shoulders as she grabbed the white mary janes from the shelf above the boots.

She closed the locker with a kick of her bare foot, heading to the benches and sitting down, setting down the cardigan as she tossed the shoes down onto the floor. She leaned over and slid them on, buttoned them, then stood. She tapped the front of each foot against the floor as she picked up the cardigan, and she left the locker room while she put it on. She buttoned the cardigan as she walked into the waiting area, walking over to the vending machines. She pressed her hand to the scanner, then pressed the button for regular milk, her usual post-flight drink. She poked the straw into the carton as she left the waiting area, heading for the door that would lead her into the inner workings of the island. She scanned her hand one last time, then she was inside again, back to her home. A screen in the wall across from the door of the wide hallway read "5:27 AM". "Hm, I'm late," the Joker murmured before she made her way down the hall. She stepped into the elevator and touched the 'B' on the screen, then she leaned against the side as she went down, down... She left the elevator and made her way down a hall with many doors, all used as locker rooms for emergency missions. She made it to the end of the hall and entered another elevator.

Five minutes later, the Joker was walking down a hallway filled with smaller elevators, platforms really, that led one up to the many rooms. The rooms closest to the elevators belonged to the Cards. She stepped onto the nearest platform on her right, typing in 'J1' on the small keypad attached to one of the two bars on the platform, one of which she held with one hand as she finished off her milk. The platform stopped in front of a door, and she stepped into the room, tossing her milk carton to the right. It landed in the trash bin next to her desk. The furniture in her room was plain and white by choice, though everything else in the room [with the exception of the white walls] was either light pink, light purple, or blue. The large, king-sized bed was surrounded by white curtains for privacy, and halfway covered in pillows and stuffed animals of all types. There was a small alarm clock next to a pink lamp on one of the two white nightstands, and it now read "5:33 AM". She headed for the windows on the far wall, which filtered in little light at this early hour, closing the blue black-out curtains. During the day time, you could see pink from the inner cloth due to the light that shone on them, but for now, it was just blue, and the other side of them were white. She loved the curtains because of how they changed with the light, and had refused time and time again when those in charge of interior design had offered to replace them.

She turned left then, walking towards the door that would lead into her bathroom, pausing to remove the card from her shirt pocket, placing it on her nightstand face down so she could only see the blue-green detailed back of it. The bathrooms were about half the size of the bedrooms, all of which were the same size no matter what rank you were. The quality of the furniture was the same for every card, though people often thought that the higher cards, face cards, and the Jokers had better quality everything, though that wasn't true at all. Not that anyone would believe that. Every room came with a bed, desk, laptop, dresser, trash bin, curtains, bookshelf, and a couch; it was up to the occupant itself to decorate it using the manual in the desk drawer. All you had to do was enter what you wanted changed in the port next to the door in the morning, and it would be changed by the time you returned that night. Though the options were slightly limited for the workers compared to the Cards; but all of the Cards were treated equally in the quality of the items. It was a way of saying "thank you" for undergoing such a life as to protect the lives of those who lived on the large island. Those who joined in the rebel army were also treated as such, though the Cards had slightly better rights than those in the army. After all, those who joined the army came in voluntarily; Cards didn't get to choose. After she'd showered and changed into a light blue, long-sleeved nightgown, the Joker lay down to finally get sleep. She'd been out most of the night, so she fell asleep pretty quickly, though she made sure her phone was plugged in and on the nightstand with the volume up in case she was needed.

(OOC: Sorry for the long post. I was excited, and I wanted to explain some things, like how high-tech everything is.)

Maelli opened her eyes with a sigh and then removed the headset, placing it on the tray by the chair she sat in. She stood up and then thanked the doctor before she left. She was wearing a pair of black shorts, a white activewear tanktop with a black sports bra, black and white training shoes, and white socks, the uniform issued to the Cards for official training. The only difference for the guys was the lack of a bra, so every Card wore the same thing on days like these, when they were all called together for the same kind of training. Today they would be working on the obstacle course, which meant that Maelli would be working with the rest of the Spades, and she was dreading it. Not only would she, an eight, make herself look foolish, but she'd have to suffer through watching her younger twin sister, who was a two, make herself look like an idiot as well. Maelli was glad they didn't have parents, otherwise they would have made the Niena family's pride go in the gutter a long, long time ago. The only thing that made up for it was the luck that Maelli had been chosen to recieve a particular skill set that made her worthy enough to be an eight. She glanced at a clock and then picked up her speed; it was already 7:23, and she had to be out on the field by 7:30.

Teillae was standing with the other Hearts by 7:20, arms crossed behind her back. She listened to their idle chitchat, though she kept to herself. She kicked the dirt with her shoe, glancing up. She smiled at her sister as she saw her appear, but she didn't try to approach, as she would be soon going on the Obstacle course. There was a system set up that made Hearts go first, then Spades, then the Diamonds and finally the Clubs. Oh, the face cards? They didn't have to go through the same training as the other cards, mainly due to the fact that they had other, important things to do. As in, paperwork. And sleeping, since they did missions at night most of the time. That and they'd already gone through most of the training that the other cards had gone through; or they had skills that qualified them for positions at face cards. Everyone expected the Eight of Spades to become an Ace or Queen of Spades when the current one was killed or considered no longer avaliable for the position, since the eight of Spades had powers that suited her more for standing back and being protected than for being in actual combat like the others, like Teillae... though Teillae wasn't much good herself. But she was proud of her sister, who could easily become a Face card. She knew that if their parents were alive, they would be proud of Maelli. The trainer blew her whistle, and Teillae turned to the obstacle course, preparing herself. Since she was the two, she would go first; the trainer blew her whistle and Teillae took off at a run, tripped, and then kept going. Her knowledge replication wouldn't help her here, since she had no one to watch before she did it. Basically, just a normal day for the two of Hearts.

The Flowers Blossom as your death draws near

Aria woke up in a groggy like manner his eyes still half asleep as his hair was nothing but a complete mess sides sticking up from everywhere. He looked around to only realize the sun had just risen, getting up only to see all his equipment and clothes scattered on the ground. "Looks like a quiet day again, but looks like we can only wait till dusks hits when the real fun begins. Right Sakura and Tsubaki?"He said while looking at his two floral patterned sheathed katanas. Those two weapons were his favorite being his most reliable in almost every situation. Every night after a mission he would clean them and hang them back onto his wall. His room however wasn't much to look at having a plain design. Aria didn't find it neccessary to decorate it since he rarely stays inside all day.
After completing his morning ritual Aria waked out in his usual attire, A Floral sash wrapped around his arms connecting both sides, his two katanas Sakura and Tsubaki, a white vest with a block sleevless underneath along with training pants and a pair of dark black boots. Going to the training area where the number cards would do their training. He didn't participate because every night of his life was nothing but training complteting mission after mission. He was aready skilled at it so he was given the hard end jobs, in which others do in groups he can merely do them by himself. "Hmm I should go check and see how the numbers are doing.."he thought to himself now walking torwards the numbers all eyes on him. That was not unusal because well, he is the second joker after all.

Her eyes popped open and she grabbed her phone while twisting onto her back and successfully tangling her legs. She slid the lock on the screen and then read the message, the arrival of which had caused her to wake, and she sighed, putting an arm over her eyes. "I forgot that that meeting was today..." she glanced at the phone again. "8:00 AM..." She had fifteen minutes to get ready, get down to her office, gather the files she needed, and get to the meeting room. No biggie. The Joker untangled herself and threw off the comforter, going over to her dresser as she pulled off her nightgown. She threw the nightgown into the laundry chute on the right wall, then she opened up her dresser.

She pressed the button next to her door, adjusting the black ribbon that held her low bun in place. She was wearing a black sweater, a white skirt, black knee-high boots with white laces and white thigh-high stockings. Adjusting the white choker she wore, she stepped onto the platform as it rose to her door, and she hit G on the pad, staring up as it took her down. She headed down the hallway and a few minutes later entered her office. She grabbed the files and computer tablets waiting on top of her desk, glancing at the clock on her desk. 8:10. She'd have to hurry. At 8:13, she switched the lights on in the designated meeting room and headed to the far end of the table, setting down the tablets in front of each seat along the way. She sat at the head of the table, placing the last folder down in front of herself. Today, they were having a meeting of the Face Cards, a debriefing for a special mission. A few seconds later, Kimei, the Queen of Hearts, walked in.

"Ah," Kimei said with a smirk, "Looks like you beat me again, Joker." "Indeed it does appear so, Kimei," the Joker replied calmly, examining her nails. Kimei flipped her dark hair over her shoulder and took a seat in the chair that had a blue-green heart on the back of it with a crown over it. There was slightly different type of crown for the King chairs, and the Jacks had a staff on theirs. The Aces had stylized hearts over their suit. The Joker chairs, the other of which sat on the other end of the table, had pictures of Jokers on them, naturally, one female and one male. The youngest face card appeared next, the fourteen-year-old ace by the name of Reinette. She took her seat and began going through the tablet waiting at her seat to examine the contents of today's mission. She didn't talk much, so neither Kimei nor the Joker tried to drag her into the little banter they had going on. The Joker soon stopped replying, as usual, so Kimei turned to the tablet in front of her as they waited for the other face cards to arrive.

Aranea rushed down the halls, glancing at every clock she passed.
Training began at 7:30, and they...They counted up the cards present even earlier than that. The blonde wasn't sure what happened to people who didn't go to the training sessions, or were late, but it didn't matter, because it had to be something bad.

She throw the door open to where the rest of the cards where and sighed in relief.
Not late, not dead.
After a lot of "excuse me"-s, especially through the Heart's section, she finally made her way to the Diamonds.

Aiden jolted awake at the sound of a gunshot, almost flinching out of his seat before he remembered where he was. Taking the pillow off his face, he sat up with a yawn, stretching energetically. "Otto, mute that would you?" He complained before the small area fell to silence, the video feed of his practice at the range still playing. Last night he'd be adjusting his trajectory programming and he'd fallen asleep. Rubbing the bridge of his nose he sighed heavily, gazing into the pitch black darkness, the video was the only source of light in the cramped room and it was a hologram. Clapping twice, he watched as the screens began to power on and grabbed the hologram and paused it before crushing it down to the size of a quarter then pinning it on a wall. "Put a reminder on that so I can deal with it later." He said, thoughtfully as he turned his attention. "Also, give me a keyboard." He told the computer coughing as the holographic system generated a keyboard. Yawning, heavily he looked around for a moment before speaking another round of commands. "Connect. Mail, and give me the information on those movements we were looking for yesterday." He demanded, as he moved about his recent mail. Digging through the messages from contacts to the rebel's main information conduit. Three new messages. Staring at the message for a moment he began looking at them. "Trash, Trash... promotion... and I'm a jack now. Trash." He thought aloud, crushing the holographic messages like paper and chucking them over his shoulder and into the trashcan where they disappeared, the message deleted.

As he finished, the information he'd asked for a moment ago popped up. Thoughtfully, he read it before grinning. "Good? No, this is great Otto. Nice work. I'll look into getting that memory upgrade you need." He told the computer patting the wall with a grin. After a moment, a small rectangular object popped out and he removed it, dragging the information to the glass pane embedded within the piece. While he was a little more ahead of the times than everyone else, his holograms only worked in the room he'd specially prepared for them so he had to be able to move them around when he needed to get data to his superiors. They were basically torches, the successor to the age-old kindle, and could display text-based information easily and legibly. Since he'd gotten a hold on this maintenance room, he'd turned it into his base, rarely using his dorm. It was well hidden if anything, the entrance literally a spinning door, just with the addition of a hand scanner for added protection, though didn't stop the jokers from getting in when they felt the need. To be frank, their connections irritated him a little, but it was of little consequence. While the data was uploaded to his "holotorch", he moved through his contact's updates finding nothing of relevant interest and finishing just as the upload finished. Spinning around, he grabbed his satchel and pressed his thumb on the back of the lock before it clicked open.

Aiden was one of those people who didn't take chances. He didn't like letting people go in his room, which was why it basically infuriated him when the Jokers broke in for information on occasion, and why he traveled keeping his information in a satchel with a fingerprint lock. This time he was delivering information to a specific Joker. One of which his relationship would be properly described as handler and operative. Her particular missions were ones that couldn't afford to be botched so he volunteered to provide the intel when she needed it. He himself was so ahead of the rebel's system he could get the information days before the actual mission was given. He was actually payed by some cards to keep periodic tabs on things. Checking hallways cameras, he ensured it was clear before slipping out with a sigh. Loosening his tie, he had no idea why he wore it or why it tried to strangle him in his sleep but that didn't really matter. Looking around, he turned and made his way down the hallway and out of the rather deserted looking building. In terms of moles, and spies, and all of that stupid stuff. He was the best there was, and he never had to leave his room. When he did, he brought Otto with him. Pushing his glasses down, he blinked as the chip embedded in his skull began doing its magic. On his glasses, a small heads up display appeared showing numerous helpful things. Like the route he was taking for instance, because god knew he had no sense of direction.

"Welcome, Aiden," called the Joker from the other side of the room, though her chair was turned away from the door. She turned halfway towards the door, closing whatever was on the screen of her tablet before she threw a card onto the table. It slid all the way across the table, coming to a stop in front of his chair, face up to reveal the Jack of Spades. "Welcome to your first official meeting of the face cards," she said blandly as she closed something else on the tablet. She then turned back to the screen on the wall, pulling up various things onto it, eyes darting to the tablet and the screen as she opened and closed various files all at once. Not only was the girl great for missions, she was good with the technical part of being a Card. She finally hit the corner of her tablet and both the screen and tablet went dark. She turned back to the table, setting the tablet down as she rest her elbows on the edge of the table. She rest her head on her hands, examining the assembled face cards.

Devika Jones, the Ace of Hearts, was the next to enter the meeting room with the rest of the Face cards. As usual, she looked exhausted, a side effect of one of her abilities. But despite that, she had a smile on her face that revealed dimples. Her uniform hugged her heavy curves, and she tugged her shorts down slightly as she sat in her designated chair.

"Morning." She said with a pleasant smile, spreading her hands. Gradually, the members in the room would feel just a bit happier, more energetic. She was carefully fueling that emotion in a tiny measured dose, knowing that everyone was too close together for her to give any more than that. Too much and they'd be elated, high on life and hyperactive.

"Who else is missing?" She said softly, to no one in particular.

That was when the alarm went off. A sigh escaped the Joker's lips as she stood, turning to the screen as it listed what they were facing. Incoming aircraft, an entire fleet, coming from the west. She pursed her lips, then turned back to her Faces, "I'm afraid this will have to wait until later." She jabbed a finger at the ace of hearts, then the queen of hearts, the jack of spades, and the ace of diamonds. "You four, with me." She pointed at the other joker, "Stay here. Watch the troops. If I fall, you know what to do." She then headed for the door, "Those of you I've designated for this mission, get into your uniforms and get to the runway."

A few minutes later the Joker walked out into the training area, holding a tablet with a list of people on it. "I want the eight of spades, the four of diamonds, and the two of hearts, pronto." She wasted no time in gathering them and taking them to the emergency locker room, getting them suited up. She kept her hair in it's low bun as she pulled on the tight bodysuit; she hadn't told any of the number cards who she was, and none of them knew. When she was done, she headed out onto the runway, taking responsibility of inputting the emergency mission on the terminal while the others gathered.

The eight of spades, Maelli, who was under the Jack's care since they were of the same suit, had on a headpiece; her eyes were closed and she seemed to be meditating as she rubbed her temples underneath the headpiece. She was chosen for the mission for her powers over the mind, as she was always chosen. Her twin sister, Teillae, two of hearts, who was under the care of the queen of hearts, was listening in to an enemy broadcast because they were using a different language to communicate, and the girl had the power of omnilingualism. The ace of diamonds was preparing the jet, as she was the designated pilot. The copilot was the four of diamonds for two reasons: one, because she was under the care of the ace, and two: because she had the ability to step into another's mind to see through their eyes, something that could come in handy in close range with enemy pilots. The Joker would be manning a separate aircraft, and she'd chosen the ace of hearts to fly with her as copilot. She had also requested that the Jack fly with her, which meant Maelli would be with them as well. Teillae, Aranea, and Kimei would be flying with the ace Reinette.

The Joker ordered everyone onboard, and she took over getting Maelli into position, strapping the girl in; she seemed to be gone, fingers touching the headset over her temples, her eyes closed. The Joker put on her own headset, speaking quickly with groundcrew about the aircraft's condition and levels. "Everybody get strapped in," she said, "This is going to be a bumpy ride." She watched as Reinette took off ahead of them, then she began to taxi the craft, taking a deep breath into the headset. She would have preferred a helmet for this, but they didn't have much time. The enemy aircraft was only getting closer.

Fashionable Genius

User ImageDevika had her headset on and her eyes closed as the jet took off. She was taking deep, slow breaths, steadily summoning her emotional powers. If this was going to be a dogfight, she was prepped, but it would be so much easier if the other side just... simply didn't have the will to fight. Luckily, she could arrange that.

She held her palm up and curved, as if she were holding an invisible baseball. As soon as the jet was within range, she could toss the little emo bomb at the nearest enemy, causing them clutching fear- and everything that came with it. Sweats, rapid heartbeat, shaking hands, inability to act. All wrapped up in a neat little package.

She'd eat like a horse later... another side effect of her skill was that it made her endlessly hungry when she put it to use. Thus her chubby curves despite her active lifestyle.

"I'm ready to throw if you can get us within range."
