Yokai - Supernatural creatures/ spirits in Japanese folklore



Zashiki warashi | Tengu | Inari Okami | Tajimamori

Zashiki warashi: A type of benevolent Japanese yokai believed to bring great fortune and riches to those whose houses it haunts.
They appear as ghost-like five or six year old children with blushing red faces.
Tengu: Supernatural spirit who springs from ancient Japanese folk religion, characterized by its long nose.
Inari Okami: Kami of rice, sake, agriculture and industry, of general prosperity and worldly success
Tajimamori: Japanese god of wagashi (Japanese confectionery)


Jiangshi | Bishamonten | Amaterasu | Ōyamatsumi

Jiangshi: A type of undead corpse found in Chinese folklore.
Bishamonten: Japanese Buddhist god of warriors and the lord of wealth and treasure.
Amaterasu: Goddess of the sun; often depicted by a spirited fox.
Ōyamatsumi: God of mountains in Japanese mythology. Elder brother of Amaterasu.



Onibi | Ryujin | Sansin | Shuten-dōji | Chōkeshin

Onibi: Personified ghost light
Ryujin: Tutelary deity of the sea
Sansin: Local mountain god
Shuten-dōji: the oni (demon) king of Mt. Ōe, also known as "the littler drunkard".
He was once a human boy, supernaturally strong and abnormally intelligent for his age.
Raised as an orphan by priests, his mischievous nature has drawn him the kind of attention that he never intended for.
Everyone around him constantly called him a demon child, which gradually led him to become resentful of humans.

One night he had just a little bit too much sake, while being drunk he disguised himself with a festive oni mask
and went around playing pranks on villagers. In the next morning, waking up in fear of being persecuted by the priests in disdian,
he self-exiled and fled to Mt. Ōe. The oni mask grew on him as he identified himself as the "demon child"
as reputed amongst the villagers, and could no longer be removed. Becoming a real oni, with other alienated outcasts,
he formed his own clan and was crowned the king of oni.
Chōkeshin: a ghost of those who died because of illness. They are white butterflies that fly around the night.

Awe, thank you very much! I made quite a few while I was waiting for SGEs health to drop lol
which ranges from a few minutes to an hour depending on the item that the avi is built on c;
