Okay so finally here is my stardust attempt. I really struggled with this one and i'm not really a fan of this theme. There is too little to pick from and it was hard to find items that really worked together. And to be honest, I'm getting sick of butter themes ^^;

Butter Candy is not my cup of tea, but it was easy enough to make an avatar for it. There's really no need to buy items specifically for a scheme when all the colors already exist in various combinations in other schemes. A bit of mix and match and it's easy enough to put together. So easy in fact that it feels like this scheme never needed to exist. I can think of 5 schemes right away that all works as components for Butter Candy, I can't say that about any other scheme.

I think I like Taffy better than Butter Candy, but not by a lot, though when I think about real Taffy, bubblegum pink comes to mind and it doesn't actually belong in the Taffy scheme... and it seems like I'm not the only one confused about that, since a search for Taffy in my inventory brought up plenty of bubblegum/butter items, as well as other similar schemes. Though just like with Butter Candy, it was simple enough to make an avatar in Taffy, even if I've never collected items in the Scheme. Plenty of items in other schemes can be used to put color in the right places, a bit of butter here, a bit of offblack there, and so on.

I was prepared to struggle with Stardust. Finding the correct blues can be a pain and there's only one item in Stardust... but then I discovered that it's just half Glacial and half taffy, minus the offblack. I love the challenge of putting together an avatar in a color scheme that basically has no items and is using unusual colors, but there was absolutely no challenge this week. I guess it's fine if it's easy sometimes, but I'm hoping for a real struggle next week. I always like my avatars more if it took effort to make them. exclaim

Taffy is like melty for me sweatdrop
A lot of hair items... but too casual for me. I'll try to put another taffy together without/minimal using the taffy tag~

I am not interested in any of these schemes and would prefer to see more Calabash or Bluebellvine or Parliament (or unschemed things, my actual favourite).

I decided to give stardust another attempt. I'm still not really a fan but a lot of that has to do with lack of items and the items I did find didn't really feel like they went well together. But I feel like I enjoyed this second attempt a little bit more. I feel like we've been doing a lot of butter themes lately sad Maybe it's just me.

Enduring Gaian

Schemes like this make me sad that Gaia moved away from single-pose, single-color (or nearly) items. I like a lot of these colors individually, but not as a group.

It's the reason why I prefer to see some poses following a scheme which is almost only one color of the scheme with neutrals (white/black/offwhite/offblack...) instead of all those gradient ones. It makes them easier to mix and match ourselves with schemes we want to build an avatar around it.

I'll get to backreading shortly! Nearly missed commenting this week, I was so busy wearing the schemes (and stalking the rerelease thread) that it slipped my mind. I still need to get two of these avatars saved.

Stardust: I love it. Anything with melody blue is a winner, but I love how it's essentially ducky, or taffy, or whatever combinations of butter and melody you want to pull from. I particularly love the true item in the scheme, the zodiacal poses, as the colors swirled together actually look pretty good! I don't generally feel that about the bubbly, pastel schemes. Stardust is the one I'd be most likely to use.

Butter Candy: I like it on it's true items best, but it's easy enough to use the component colors from other items, all of the colors being common and popular. It looks slightly better on a gradient than blocked, but I could see this scheme being used once in a while in my lineup. Perhaps with a different balance than I used here. It would have been easier to go casual, but I'm allergic to casual.

Taffy: I started out disliking taffy, but now having used it, I'm okay with it and think it's possible to use regularly. I still prefer schemes with three or four colors, not including shades like white and black, but I could see blending this with other colors going really well. I could be biased, having the opportunity to use some of my favorite items, but the attempt didn't turn badly. I'm not sure I would use it on a regular basis, without maybe mixing in...a red? And orange maybe? Tough choice. Complementary colors are already so loud.

New scheme is up and I've been waiting for this! I love Monarch so much, and I really enjoy Arkade and Eventide (I use them interchangably, it's hard to tell there's a difference when you stick them together). I'm...not sure I can do anything about sunrise, but I'll try. Some of the really washed out ifrit items, the early ones, might be able to do the trick.

Sweetest Dabbler

It's the last week of January and it's bright as can be!

An interesting note from last week is that the highest voted scheme was Stardust! That's the scheme that only had one item. It just goes to show good colors are more important than number of items!

wow, gorgeous schemes this week! these rich, beautiful colors... please Gaia, we need more of this!

The saturation and richness (and sparkles) of Eventide reminds me of Andromeda, but sub in orange and yellow for black. So it's definitely a plus in my book. I like the blue in Arkade, and I think Velvetine uses tanzanite? so maybe andromeda and velvetine for that scheme...will have to experiment. 3nodding

I think Ry mentioned earlier that Sunrise looks a bit like Ifrit, and I'm not too into Ifrit, so Sunrise is a hit or miss for me. I'm not into only warmer colors as a scheme, and the red reminds me of rust, and pale/muted reds aren't my thing.

Okay, i'm going back on what I said about red, orange, yellow as a warm color scheme. it's the saturation that gets me. Where sunrise is muted and pale, Monarch is really beautiful with its deep saturation. that's the difference and where i stand.
and don't people like butterflies? i wish there were more items in this scheme. (now my mind is going off on a tangent about why these butterfly items aren't recolored in the scheme of a Tiger Swallowtail, my favorite butterfly)

stating with monarch, which i admit i don't own much more than the dress but i'd love to see gaia doing more with this scheme so bright and bold with that fiery color scheme yet nicely framed by the black and white spots i remember when i was just starting on gaia and i was saving up for this dress old but good biggrin

Friendly Fairy

I love this color scheme!

Gaia diffidently needs to make more items with Eventide
The outfit was a bit difficult to create but overall happy with how it turned out.

I love all of these schemes and yet... I only own the one Monarch item from Dernier Cri. emotion_facepalm They're so deep and rich and beautiful.

I think I like Eventide and Arkade best-- there's something about that mix of purple and orange and raspberry/pink that makes me happy. I really do wish we had more items in these two. Elegant, flowy things. And backgrounds. And maybe a dragon-esque item or five. Ahem.

Perhaps sunset/astrolabe and the scheme I forget the name of that has pebble/saturn/raspberry (midnight? orijen?) could be used to cobble either of these together? They're sort-of similar, enough that it might work. Might have to play around with it.

Monarch is so pretty, too, but the orange can be a little overwhelming. Still gorgeous, just not something I'll use too often without mixing in another color. (And, darn it, I just deleted my old Monarch/white avatar from my dressing room.)

Sunrise... I might want to see a few more items. Don't have a strong opinion on it right now. It's burgundy-ish and buttery, and I like both those things, but it feels like something is missing. I dunno.

edit: Looks like you might have missed one eventide item. User Image
