i've always liked adding a little more of a darker blue ( think it's checkmate ) or other color to pop from all the orange

Inari! Ah, the nostalgia. I remember when those EI eyes were all the rage.

Until I saw your "in this essay" post, I hadn't realized Inari had more than two color schemes within the one. redface It makes sense now that I think about it, though! And I still rather like all of the colors. Inari is kind of complex (if maybe a little outdated in terms of shading) but offers a lot of options. It helps on the days when my eyesight is so-so and the migraines are raging, 'cause I can use the checkmate-ish side of things rather than the almost-heavenly white.

I'd certainly love to see this make a return, like Josie (it was Josie, right?) and Strength of the Pride. Although I'll admit that I like the original version better than the user versions-- a lot of them are just too heavily blue and orange. The white seems like a necessary moderator to me. I could live with either (or any other update), though.

I might recolor Selken's Favor, too, because I like the Asian flair of Inari, but here's Akainu's Autumn Yugure's and Yoake's Autumn in the meantime:


The orange shoes turned out iffy. Grr.

I'm not likely to use Grapefruit, but it does make me smile. It's bright and cheerful and summery. Kind of leaves me wanting to bake an orange cake. Maybe with a layer of raspberry puree or jam. [/distracted]

I've seen that meme so much this felt like the one chance I'd ever get to use it=^.^;=

I'll be honest I never realized there were 3 distinct foxes until I went to color pick the original item for the hex guide. If you wanted to you could actually end up with more schemes if you added the adolescent forms, as the two main foxes start out looking much more similar.

Yeap, Jinxi, Josie, and Strength of the Pride. At least they all share the same yellow and variations of the other colors (purple, green, tan, ect). I like the original too, it feels a bit more mythic and while the shading style is old I do like the shading color on the white (though I don't think it would survive modern shading as well)

I didn't see this item on the list: . The name is Zoku Inari's Beads (Yugure no Tama), so now I'm confused which fox it actually is @.@. Maybe it's misnamed.
I guess I wasn't on Gaia at the time this item was popular (or I wasn't paying attention), so I don't quite have the nostalgia as other people do. Maybe it's why I like the 'new' Inari. Not really a fan of the old orange. I like seeing the squares of color, so thank you for that smile

As for Grapefruit, it's a nice mix of colors and with the color blocking, you can find any number of schemes to make it (cutie pie + pumpkin, bubblegum pink is in a lot of schemes).

Holy shnikies, Peepermeant! These look awesome. Gimme the Fire Flower, Silver Fox, Strawberry PokiPoki, and Wanderer in Spades stat! I love that these are uncommon items to recolor too.

I feel a bit like a copycat, but I was going to post the same praise~! redface I am always weak to Silver Fox recolours emotion_jawdrop (That scarf! Those legs! The coat!), and I want the skirt from Wanderer in Spades in ALL the colours. whee I had not previously thought I was lacking recolours of Fire Flower since the original is just so good, but, wow! I need this cold-fire version now! emotion_kirakira

I was busy last week, so I did not have the opportunity to post on the blues. I enjoy Marine quite a bit.

As for this week, Inari's Beads came out at a time when colourschemes were not enforced so heavily during item releases. I appreciated that time, as I like to mix and match things to make my own looks (which might or might not be colourscheme compliant; I'm not an ATer). I especially enjoyed using Inari's Beads with Infernal Spirit, which evolved around the same time iirc.

I don't like the pink part of Grapefruit, but I love the way the yellow smudges into deep orange. This means that the Hind of Avalon headfliowers pose is my most-used pose in this scheme.

Inari is a refreshing and attention-grabbbing combination in its original incarnation.
I'm not a big orange person outside of autumn, but I like it's pairing with blues and whites here.

Oh boy. You pointed out an issue with Inari I never thought of, but is rather true. I've always called the other schemes by their fox names (except Checkmate, which became popular much later, I believe).

Your fenghuang is enchanting and I can't stop scrolling back up to your avatar when I'm on a page with you. I've appreciated it in the GCD multiple times a day, every day since you put it on. Fenghuang is one of those hidden jewels that never became popular, but I wear whenever possible. You just do it so well! It's just how it should be balanced, and looks thematic to boot!

I also love the complementary colors of blue and orange (not red/green generally, not purple/yellow generally)! I did an Ivran/orange avatar not long ago, but I feel it didn't do as well as some of my others. I might post it here when I post all the others. I must explore all the aspects of inari, though it looks like yuki is the least explored one for me.

I would need to look at the dates, but I think Yugure came before Checkmate, and might have been the inspiration for the original Checkmate item, since the Inari Beads were some of the most wildly popular of the time (dwarfed only be Gogh Reed during that era, I think?).

I'll handle each Inari separately, as I'm at the point I have to delete old beloved avatars to make new ones, and it slows the process down badly.
I honestly can't even tell you if I'm specializing in true Inari, usermade Inari, updated Inari, or a bastardization of them all. But I can tell you I love Inari. I love blue, and I love putting blue with orange in just about any incarnation. It makes me -ever- so happy. I'll try to use more of the -true- Inari items next, the ones that fade to yuki white/blue, as well as doing some Yuki and Yagure ones. I just really had to use these Ephemeral items, too pretty not to take advantage of.

I know Inari's shading hasn't aged well...but I think they are still very pretty items, and I'm glad they were revived recently. The 'new' Inari items, with their maiden and monster poses, I think keep the spirit of the original items and look good too.

I love love love seeing everyone's avatars and the inherent Asian/foxy take they have. This might be my favorite week yet and I can't explain why. It just feels good to see all of these bright new takes on an older but still beloved theme.

Grapefruit has the problem where all the items target the base I'm not using. Because of that, I don't collect it. I do like the scheme though, and I wouldn't mind if Gaia adopted it as their own.

Yes to inari in all its forms. I don't have a preference on which one I like most. I just want to see more of it all.
