I love the combo of the Innocent Capri and Knit Snip Buck backgrounds, that's a combo I will definitely use again! Thank you! I totally agree that I find ghosting and making avis with the avi builder a lot more challenging, you did such a good job with my vast chaos of an inventory!

You lean towards the more “natural” schemes, I’ve noticed—many of which I myself also like a fair bit—so it was a pleasure to put together, ehe. The Capri and Knit Snip combo is one I keep in my back pocket, you’re absolutely welcome to it n.n

And—right? I don’t know what it is about the builder, maybe the size of the canvas...but it is always a slight added challenge to make anything in it >.<
(Granted, a very fun challenge, but still!)

Happy Mer-May everyone! I have a duo of siblings to kick it off, not sure how many more I'll be able to make though. Click to favorite.


The theme felt like a good excuse to make another handsome male avatar. Hopefully I balanced the swampberry, carnage, and gold well enough. I had some extra carnage plants around the base, but I felt like they took away from the tail pose too much. I love these eyes, I slapped them on as soon as I decided which mermaid tail I was going to use.

She turned out more similar to my merman than I had expected, so I'm gonna assume they're siblings. She may appear shy, but I think she's concealing some clever calculations behind the eyes.

The thing about making merfolk is that I feel like I need to add some background elements to give them context rather than have them (pardon the pun) floating in blank space. Unfortunately, I don't have that many partial backgrounds that have water, and I really prefer not to use full backgrounds. A lot of the newer backgrounds are also immune to most of the BG cutters I like to use, so I'm limited to older items that look watery in some way and have tags that help me find them in my inventory.

Ah, yes, it is intentionally disabled! I’m a liiiiittle bit paranoid about having my entire equips plainly ripped off, which is partly vanity and partly, it has happened before. ahfjhjkgh I do spend an occasionally unhealthy amount of time on these things, so I never quite know how to feel when it happens...

That said, if you do ever have questions about equips, you can just shoot me a PM directly. :]
(Same thing if you’d like to ghost me: I don’t mind turning it on temporarily for friends to check what I’m wearing, or just to play around. ^^)

As for the Builder; hm...it could be that, it absolutely is somewhat overwhelming, particularly since the pose icons are quite small, so visually, the effect is very cluttered; I sort of get lost in there. But it might also be the fact that I’m used to the positions things have in my Dresser and I navigate that by tab. confused Perhaps a combination thereof.

And!!! He is gorgeous!!!! And the sister is lovely, too. emotion_kirakira And I relate so much to the note you made about feeling like you have to place them in the context of an at least partial background—it feels so threadbare somehow, otherwise.

Mermay is almost a brain teaser in this way, lmao. Forcing my brain to remember nifty poses that suit waterscapes, forgotten otherwise in their respective parent items...And also making me think a little outside the box, because who is to say a merperson must be in water, always~?

(I say this latter thing because, the tail from the OG Seafilly looks so much like a croissant to me, I wound up having a Dessert Mermaid WIP, as just one example. Presently agonizing over whether I put her in a teacup or construct some sort of cake dish. lol )

I completely understand. I have also had my entire avis copied before, it's an odd feeling for sure. I don't mind so much when someone reaches out ahead of time to ask if it's okay, but it's eerie when I just stumble upon them in the forums or someone PMs me because they recognized my avi on someone else. I try to just brush it off as flattery

I believe I have sent you a PM before asking about an equip, haha! I will continue to do so. I remember when I first came back in 2019 after being on hiatus for years I was totally overwhelmed by all the schemes and items, and kind people like yourself helped me a lot.

I think the avi builder would be much improved if it had the same sorting tabs as the regular avi maker! That's a great point in terms of why it's overwhelming.

That's true, I have already seen some mermaids in space. (I made an attempt at one once). I gravitate towards nature items, as you mentioned, so I haven't collected that many mermaid tails over the years unless they happened to have nature elements I wanted or a scheme I really like. It's a good challenge for me, though, to get to know my inventory better. I am excitedly looking forward to your dessert merperson! That's going to be so adorable and unique!
