i'd love a story if you feel up to it! i'm not much of a writer so i don't know if i can really contribute, though
err, and here's an alternate avatar if the one i have equipped isn't too exciting c:

I picked your current avatar, it's nice! But if you read the story, the alternate could also be a part of this universe!
During the day, we often are led astray by our eyes. There's a grand assumption that what lies within the light, is sight. As much as this peculiar notion that what sits under the Sun is sight, what sits under the Moon is the opposite. What sits under the Moon, is obscured by darkness, darkness representing the lack of vision.
But there is a place between these two realms, unseen. Except by those who possess a certain "gift".
The world of dreams far surpasses anything we might know about light. It lies between the pages of day and night. Far from the cities and villages of this physical plane, there is a place where our collective spirits meet.
To the farthest edges of this magical dimension, is the Great Beyond. It is a strange place, filled with the ruins of half made thoughts in the form of abstract structures. Those who return from this place with their sanity intact believe it the Moon peppered with regrets.
The fairies of this land say this is where the nightmare beasts are born. The imps say this is where dream essence coalesces to be consumed by dark forces and turned into the nightmares the fairies so greatly fear.
Such lore did not affect the young girl now wandering through this abysmal setting of rocks and half-thoughts. It would be a lie to say she wasn't nervous though.
Those who learn to consciously enter the dream world take on many forms. Catherine possessed the body of a young girl in lace, with the legs of a Reptilian--a strange combination of thoughts, but in this realm we assume the form most natural to our spirit essence.
That is the purpose of these forms, to journey throughout this plane in search of why the True-Self manifests the way that it does.
Catherine walked slowly through the Moon-like ruins, leaving 3 toed footprints as she went. Through her single eye (her left was yet to be unlocked from its enchanted satin patch), she searched for answers.
Suddenly, a Nightmare materialized beside her in the form of a levitating shadow skull. "Cat, are you sure about this?", it spoke in a reserved English accent.
This was Sylvester, a Nightmare Catherine had tamed on her journeys. Few have done such a thing, and most in this plane would consider it madness. But Catherine was on a very important quest and such methods were necessary.
She looked into his empty sockets. "I'm supposed to follow the butterflies, right?" She stared off into the craggy surroundings. A faint trail of glowing white butterflies could be seen lighting the way.
"Yes, but...this place scares me, Cat", Sylvester whimpered. "That's why we have to dive in, silly", she said with a fearful grin. She too was afraid.
But both were searching for the reason to their forms, and so continued towards the dimly lit trail of light. Catherine could not remember the last time she was awake from this world. Perhaps traveling deep into The Great Beyond would allow her to see her mother again. This would be pleasant.
A strange wind blew against the companions. It wasn't cold or hot. It felt like...a presence. Exactly what it was, they would be sure to find out. Together.
