Lol I just found this out and confirmed it by rewatching the Japanese version.
In the Japanese version, Bakura speaks VERY polite, effeminate, and gentle and that becomes REALLY difficult to translate into English other than saying 'please thank you sir and ma'am' all the time. So they gave him a British accent, a very gentle and polite form of 'English'.

Jounuchi on the other hand speaks in a very unsophisticated, arrogant, and somewhat uneducated way. Hence, Brooklyn accent. Speaks for itself. xDDD

xD Yeah it was a 'Holy s**t' moment for me.
I'm not sure how I missed it. Especially with all the jokes about 'inappropriately placed accents'.

But seriously. I understand that some of the edited images aren't 4kids fault; the channel they host on apparently dictates what will be censored and what will not. But I am still unsure about those random name changes. Whether they were chosen to change by 4kids or the channel I dunno... But why Keep Yuugi, Seto, and Mokuba and even the name Pegasus but change it around? (Pegasus J. Crawford isn't good enough, so Maximillion Pegasus? LESS convincing if you ask me... xD) And randomly changing Rishid's name to Odion... WTF?

By the way - did you notice Injection Fairy Lilly was edited? She sits atop a giant syringe but 4kids had to change it into a freaking rocket because ... because I'm not sure why. But apparently even when a nurse has a needle it's a BAD thing. D8

And Jou's last name, Jou, too his first name. And where did his first name go? (I liked the name Katsuya.)

Because needles, and death, and peeing are apparently not something children need to know about. WTF? In 5D's they edited out grave stones at one point so the characters were just staring all freaked out into a patch of grass. O_________________o
Yeah and back in the original saga, they showed a tombstone with Honda's name on it. *wiggles fingers all scary like* My god I can't believe they showed a tombstone. Gonna give my hypothetical child nightmares.

I know. Katsuya was awesome. They were all awesome. Even Anzu was a cool name.
I would have literally started a war if they had changed Bakura's name... I can't figure out why they didn't change his name though. It's not like he's a main character... uh until the end. xD Which they didn't know about back in season one editing. *shrugs* Weird stuff. Guess we'll never know. ;___;
