3nodding I don't think it's your laptop ( crying I want one). It happens to me too with some pics. For instance I had a link in my thread and only see the url in the main page but when I post it in the other pages it appears just fine.
Maybe it's just tinyurl.

Maybe I usually code the url in to the picture so that the picture shows and acts like a link like the siggy pic I have now links to vamps art shop for them XD
