I'm going to tell myself a story.



A beautiful baby girl was born on a cold winter day in December. She didn't cry. She didn't move a muscle. She only breathed in and out slowly. The doctors worried about the child. They claimed she wouldn't make it through the night. Her mother sobbed quietly in her room, praying that her baby would live.

The next morning the mother awoke to the sound of crying. To the people around her, it would have been a bothersome sound, but to her, it was a wonderous sound that said her prayers had been answered. She jumped out of bed and ran over to the crib in the corner of the rooms. Just as she'd expected, there her daughter was, her dark blue eyes open and staring right at her. When the baby saw her mother, she stopped crying. She reached forward, struggling to reach her mothers face. Her mom scooped her up in her arms and caressed her gently. A silent tear ran down her cheek. "I'm going to name you Hope," she whispered to her smiling daughter.

6 years later...

Hope's eyes opened slowly and were quickly filled with the sunlight seeping through the blinds on her windows. She could smell her mother cooking in the kitchen. A smile formed on her pink lips. She pushed herself up and hopped out of her small bed, making sure to grab her bunny doll, too. Her sleep-gown dropped to her ankles, causing her to stumble slightly when she walked towards the kitchen.

Her small puppy ran up to her; greeting her in the way loving dogs always did: he pawed at her legs and barked happilly. She laughed and rubbed her small hand down his back gently. She continued to walk forward; the dog following close behind. She peered around the doorway to the kitchen. She saw her mom standing in front of the stove. The strong scent of bacon surrounded her, making her mouth water. "What's fer brekfest, mommy?" she asked, walking up and trying to see what she had laid out on the counter. It was a failed attempt, though; it reached a foot over her head.

Her mom looked down at her daughter and smiled. "Do you know what today is, sweetie?" she asked sweetly, handing her a piece of bacon that had already cooled. The puppy barked loudly. She laughed and handed him a piece, too.
Hope thought about the question for a moment and shook her head. "No, I don know," she replied, still trying to figure it out. She grabbed the bacon from her mother's hand and took a bite out of it. It tasted great. She continued to munch on it, hoping her mother would explain.

Ehh, I'm done for now. I'm gonna go take a nap.
