Knowledge Is Blonde
Commissioning: Kastaleikas
Type of commission: Bust
Coloring: No
Price: 18K plus tip?
Specifics: Relaxed, almost high kind of expression

Oh, hey! I tuned out for a bit there. At the moment, for 18k, I'm not going to do any fine linearting; I wouldn't consider it enough of a bribe, since I'm busy with other work at the moment. What kind of line work are you looking for?

Yeah, that's actually exactly what I'm looking for.

How much would you like me to raise the offer?

I'm a little broke at the moment, I hope I didn't offend ya. gonk

Oh also when drawing me, even if it goes below where the bust line would be, please include the ruffle.

No worries, honest. ^^ 18k is fine as long as I'm not doing any crisp lineart, because that takes ages. I'm going to try to get some other projects done first, but hopefully I will be able to get a start on your art before the night's over. Good with you? If yes, please send the trade~

A faded brush and pen pressure is all it takes. ;3 I'll add ya to the front slots.

Ah, I've been trying to draw for about 10 years but I'm absolutely horrid.

Practice, practice. That's how I learned. It's taken me many, many years to get here and I still have a long way to go. 3nodding

Yeah that's what everyone tells me.

Unfortunately for me I'm not a patient person, especially when it comes to myself.

Being a perfectionist really sucks. User Image

Because it's true. rofl But yeah, neither am I, however... even if I hate doing my assignments at school, if I keep working on them... somehow I just get better. xD Sad that I got better AFTER my final, but anyway...

If you're a perfectionist, though, perhaps you should try drawing one thing at a time. I'd recommend starting with eyes. Perfect the eyes by doing research, looking at other people's techniques, and copy if you need to. In fact, copying in the first place is probably better before trying out anything on your own. You'll never get better if you don't try, after all. If you draw thousands of bad eyes, eventually you'll realize that you've improved, and suddenly... you're drawing them awesomely.

Yeah I know, I just get frustrated way too easy, and school is no exception.

But you're right, as bad as this sounds I have found copying other peoples styles and learning from it a lot easier, guess its because I'm more of a visual learner.

Thankfully I bought a nice (and very expensive, even while on SALE gonk ) book from Borders this evening.

Haven't had time to look at it though, I'm painting my mom her birthday present. neutral

Yep~ It's hard to develop something if you haven't seen something similar before, since it's so easy to be influenced by other people's works. Eventually you'll develop your own style as a result of all the styles you see and practise and put together on your own. =3

Good art books are expensive. = w=;; I have a few, but mostly I'm just ploughing through art and having to learn on my own. No complaints, there, though... I just use them to get ideas, in the end. I'm not sure if you're into anime, but Katy Coope taught me a lot with her first book on drawing manga. It's very focused on her style, but it nails the basics pretty well.

Are you any good at painting? I envy painters. * w*

Yeah, I know what you mean, I'm sort of there, just some things are off on my art.

Actually speaking of anime, this is the book I bought today.

I really liked the style and thought it looked interesting, plus it showed similar examples of what others were trying to help me with here on Gaia (yes I'm receiving online tutoring here of all places).

Also I'm great at painting, not so great at drawing.

I'm painting my mom this picture of our cat.

I use the grid method for stuff like that.

Ohh, yeah, that looks like a really nice, expensive book. XDD I've only recently gotten to looking around fashion for characters myself... not in the form of references, though, just inspiration.

That would make a nice pic of a cat. I used to do Chinese brush painting, but I haven't touched my equips since ... maybe five years ago or more. I doubt I can paint anymore. I can... um... paint with my tablet in Photoshop? XDD I'd love to see your final painting (or any) when you're done, if you don't mind. ;3
