The soldier stepped back momentarily as Shun made his threat, then regained his courage.

"Those things look kinda fancy, would be a shame to cover 'em in blood and such... tell you what. Surrender and drop your weapons, and I probably won't kill you."

He paused to take another brief look behind him and added with a smirk, "I can't really speak for my friends, however"

That step back didn't get past Shun. It wasn't too hard to see that the soldier was fairly wary of him.

"Like hell I will," he said lowly before glancing as reinforcements came. His gaze shifted from side to side. The alley was fairly narrow so it'd be hard for them to flank him at the very least. There was one other way he could try and pull things further into his own advantage since he was outnumbered here.

Staring hard at the group of soldiers, he nicked his left thumb to let a drop of blood fall to the ground. Mumbling an incantation under his breath as this happened, darkness began to spread out from where the blood landed, enveloping the one who had cast it. It spread out several about five or so feet in all directions, creating a sort of black bubble in the middle. There was no feel to it and the darkness wouldn't harm anything. It was meant only to impede eyesight.

Letting out a breath, Shun felt his energy ebb with that spell, as well as the one he cast as a follow up to allow himself to see while in his little area of no light.

"If you want my daggers that badly, just try and take them," he hissed. He'd fight them on his own terms if he could help it. If they happened to be able to see in the dark, that'd be troublesome but this would hopefully slow them down.

Although I was wearing babygros for most of the late 80's....

Maybe it was different in England. If memory serves me correctly, the 90's were much easier on the eyes, at least in the U.S.
