Unfortunately, with the big awkward crowd at the WorldSpanners Inn, Teagan's mission had been put on hold. Mainly it was the presence of the little girl that prevented her from asking around, about the incident Mr. Fletcher assigned her to.

On the plus side, the money she'd found tucked within the cushion of the seat bought her a biscuit and a shot of gin. As much as she'd been with the drinking crowd before, keeping her liquor wasn't her specialty. She was buzzed the instant she drank it. She nibbled on the biscuit slowly afterward. It was a bit dry but she'd never complain at a time like this. It was quiet now...and her mind drifted to unpleasant memories.

She thought about the day a strange man came to her door in the old village. The day she was told her brother, Jonathan, died. They never did find a body, and the whole situation reeked. But nevertheless, weeks later her mother and sister were done with grieving for him. How could they? Jonathan was the best brother anyone could ask for. He followed his interests and dreams, he held his beliefs, but he never looked down on Teagan for holding her own, even if they would disagree. They rarely did though- Teagan liked to think of Jonathan as more her twin than her older brother. She idolized him, followed him and did her best to help him live out his own dreams of becoming a writer.

She had just turned 20 when Jonathan disappeared, and when he did, suddenly she realized how trapped she'd felt her entire life. It was more than just the confines or her village... it was the inability to reach for the same goals Jonathan could reach for, as a woman. Teagan herself aspired to be a poet, maybe even a philosopher one day, but while her brother was praised for going out and seeking a career, she was scolded and mocked.

So in an attempt to escape that life, but also keep her family's needs in mind, she departed from home and made way for England- against her mother and sister's wishes. She would send back money to them, to support them. They'd see- she'd make something of herself out there.

A flood of more recent memories came and Teagan audibly groaned to even think of them. They tortured her.

This is what it's like...to completely fail in every endeavor I've ever had.

It started in the last OOC...a couple of the characters were making camp in the woods, and wondering how they could get water from the river to the cave were everyone was sleeping, they discussed how might be best to carve out some bowls from woods.

Then we realised that, out of everything we could have been RPing about, we'd chosen something as lame as 'how to carve bowls'...we laughed, but it stuck for some reason as a bit of an OOC trope. XD

...it... it is either that or a gunshot wound. Basically I need to figure out whether or not people have guns then.

Not exactly self-inflicted though! I mean, I guess throwing yourself out there in harm's way to protect someone else can be seen as self-inflicting, but...

Basically it's a sad hero moment. xd
