She's so...infectiously cheery... what a strange girl...
Teagan gave a polite smile back and opened the door to her new room. Her jaw nearly dropped. She was certain that in a city like this, there may be nicer rooms and buildings. But not much nicer- because the sight of her room was overwhelming.
Bright, subtle-patterned wall paper on the walls, sprinkled with framed fine art. The bed was the largest she'd even seen in her life- sky blue sheets and comforter, plush pillows, all contained in a wooden frame that had a very ornate, carved headboard. Beside it was a small nightstand with a bright yellow lamp,with a drawer underneath for storing small books and paper. Opposite the bed was a large, dark wood armoire. It was beautifully craved with plenty of space, not like Teagan would need most of it. Farthest from the door was a small round glass table, and two chairs that allowed for a nice view out the window.
The window was large, and through it Teagan could see what she believed to be nearly the entire city. It really did look beautiful from this high up, but it was a bit disconcerting, considering her job now was to walk through it endlessly to find things. Suddenly the charms of the city weren't so repulsive to her, for by now she'd ignored her thoughts of death and Purgatory. If this be a dream or reality, if she'd died or merely been drugged and dragged out to a foreign city, it was no matter. She now was employed, and somewhat under Mr. Fletcher's protection as well.
After about a half hour of settling in, she decided to embark on her first job. She wondered what Johnathan meant by this "magic" he'd mentioned. Magic was just trickery. Surely the eyewitnesses were mistaken. But the mention of a dangerous female didn't sound strange to her at all, not with her previous line of work. She made her way down the hall, then down the long spiral stairs, back to the lobby and out the door, but not before giving a polite nod to Samantha at the desk and retrieving her map. Once outside, she came back to the fountain in the town square. It might be a slow start there but there was someone she might catch to ask about this incident, and she felt certain he'd know.
Always having to search and run into people I would otherwise most avoid. Damn you, Blakely...
