The faulter in Teagan's voice did not go missed and Laveris flicked her eyebrow in surprise, but decided to say nothing about it, at least for the moment. Maybe she was an old flame of Rivek's...

"People usually pay attention me," she said airily, waving her hand as if it was nothing in the world that meant anything. "It's all about confidence, Teagie." She looked at her, turning in her chair to make it easier, considering for a moment. "Look at your posture, for example - every inch of your body language is telling the world that you don't want its attention. Raise your chin, look at the sky, tell the world you deserve to be in it - that it is priviledged to have you as a member of its people. Whatever I am - and the Gods know I am not perfect in as many ways as even I like to make pretense of - I am still me, I am Laveris, and I am amazing." She laughed, turning back to her drink which she lifted to her lips before continuing; "You could be amazing too, if you give yourself half a chance. That's how you get attention."

Teagan gave a quick glare at Laveris, the moment she heard her new 'nickname.'

"Please don't call me that." she said sharply. Can't think of anything as stupid to call her.Lavvy? Lavery? ******** it all.

She shifted in her seat uncomfortably, and ordered another double shot. "I suppose I haven't had reason to demand attention before." she offered, more gently than her previous tone. "I'm not asking for the world to bow at my feet. I'd rather them just nod politely, as if I occupy space on this earth. Isn't there a happy medium, or do I have to turn into a diva?" She raised an eyebrow and she finished off drink #2.

"It's not a terribly big deal anyway," she admitted. "The only time I let myself beg for attention, I almost got myself killed."

"What would you prefer?" Laveris' expression flashed with incredulousness but also amusement at Teagan's very frank refusal of the nickname. "Teagish? Teavee? Teapot? Your choice." She laughed and finished off the rest of her drink, picking at her pizza, tearing off small strips to eat in a way that did not betray the amount of hunger she was feeling.

"Hmm, well," she considered Teagan's words, enjoying once again the edge of fire that she found in them, the way the woman did not hold her tongue at subtle expression of her real feelings about Laveris' ego was amusing; so few people on her world were so bold as to point it out to her face. "I suppose a medium level is possible, a balance between doormat and diva. I'm not suggesting you turn into a manical ego like myself, but a tip would be this - never beg for anything, that's a rookie mistake. Demand it." She turned to face her again, leaning slightly closer. "Look whoever it is in the eye, don't back down, and dare them to defy you. With any luck they'll be too stunned at the force of personality to say no." She tipped a wink at the woman and for a moment allowed her gaze to flick to her neck and lower, quickly bringing them back up to fix back on her eyes, hopefully before Teagan could be sure that it had happened. XD It was more the lack of any kind of communication or acknowledgment that I'd explained why, it came across fairly...unfriendly, as a response, with no indication as to whether you want me to pick it up at some point.

Teagan swallowed spit and looked away from her for a moment after she winked. This behavior was completely new to her. It was unwelcomed, and frightening to be honest. She frowned, not appreciating her remaining nickname choices either.

"Teagan is preferred." She muttered. she thought for a moment on Laveris's advice.

"Demand it? Aye, I could try that..." she laughed weakly, and ordered a third gin. "Alright then, Lavvvvy. Call me Teagan, and ONLY Teagan. I demand it." She smirked and turned to stare at her, mocking her confidence, since she certainly couldn't fully imitate it. She suddenly felt stupid.

"Why do I have a feeling you won't listen to me?" she kept a grin, but looked a bit disappointed. "Ah well. You seem to have some wit about you with social matters. So I have to ask you for another piece of advice if you're willing. It's on the same subject of demanding attention I suppose." She downed her third gin, and then the alcohol hit her hard. She felt suddenly happy at nothing.

"Tell me how to take revenge on the most disgusting, arrogant, attractive son of a b***h I've ever met."

"Your speech is quite charming," Lias said, knowing full well that if anyone with less magic spoke that way he'd have found it irritating beyond belief.

"Business of power, my dear," he replied. "I have plans to...make some changes...to this place, and I'm offering you the chance to be a part of it from the start." He couldn't help leaning closer to her, further into the intoxicating aura of the magic that pulsed from her, thinking of a way to word his position. Unfortunatly subtly in social skills was not a strength of his but, luckily, Jeni by his side was far more adept.

"Where Lias comes from, he was a...leader, of sorts, an inspiration," she explained, carefully choosing each word. "He has much knowledge he could bring to this world if only he has a chance...but even someone such as he can't do it alone..."

"Exactly my words," Lias cooed at Jeni, shooting her a sharply triumphant smile. "So will you consider joining me, Sadye?"

"Well if those plans have anything to do with gettin' rid of the soddin' Machina, then you can count me in," Sadye said dryly. "Honestly though," she said more sincerely, "I just wanna get back to my own kip, ya savvy cutter? This place is nice enough, but it ain't Sigil. Think you can help with that? I'd certainly help ya out if you could."

In the time since she had arrived in Serendipity, Variable had found herself itching to do something, anything. But having only military experience and training, it made it a bit harder to find honest jobs she could tolerate. She found herself slipping into a mercenary position, accepting money for small jobs - run this here, go get these things... But this job would hopefully play to her strengths. Bodyguards were required to know how to fight, and defend. Easy.

However, the client had requested two people. With her social network lacking, she would have to put up with whoever the third party found. The other would be meeting her here at the Dead Man's for a drink and a chat. Her idea, really - Variable hated the idea of trusting a stranger should anything actually happen. Back home, that was just asking to be stabbed in the back. Next to her, the twitchy messenger was fidgeting with a napkin - he was the one that set up the meeting, and would be recognizable to Avery. But after they had been introduced, he was going to disappear, as he had other jobs to do. All the better anyways, he was starting to get on Variable's nerves.

Haha, you girls have your 'girl talk'. I'm around but I'll let Teagan have a break from Ja'tel. Lord knows she will love those breaks after a while. Besides...he's socializing, and that doesn't happen very often.

I understand and accept your reasons, but I wasn't really sure what to say.

I'm still interested in Nath/Miehrru RP,
but the ambiguous when came across more as a non-committal if.
So, while not offended, I guess I was a little upset. ^^;
