I don't find the news to be depressing in general. In fact, I frequently find it both enlightening and inspiring!

Gossip and propaganda aren't really news, no matter how you package them. Real news is important information, facts, and truth! It should be presented in as neutral a manner as possible, too. It's extremely unfortunate how some aspects of journalism have fallen into the pit of popular appeal and profit-seeking.

yeah it is a shame....about the profit-seeking in journalism....

but then i dunno if can agree about news being inspiring.....enlightening - yes, but not always inspiring.....my dad phoned me the other day from a tiny little country called Belarus - it's where he and his wife live. he says the devaluation of the belarussian rouble is killing the country, there's a high rate of unemployment and a hellova lot of starving people, or homeless, or both.....he's gonna be a pensioner soon too which means his income will be at least halved, which also suggest that he's gonna be one of the starving people....prices are rising and in general the picture ain't looking good......when you search the world news online however - you don't see anything about that, a lot about the president, but that's about it. so yeah....that was a little depressing - wouldn't you agree? and there's a lot of it about in the world.

That IS depressing D:

Then again, there's always good and bad in the world.

I hope your dad will be okay though!
A sucky job. A sucky sucky sucky job is what it is.

And about the Belarus situation...This year's Eurovision, Belarus came with a song, something like "I love Belarus, laadidaadidaa" or whatever. My parents got pissed at it and I didn't realise why, and then they told me about the stuff going down in there. And it's so true, you don't hear anything about it from the news or the media. Godda love those Iron Curtains =/

whew! at least I'm not the only one that thinks news can be depressing.....very educational, especially if you take the time to research the subject, but depressing nonetheless.

Hi again Romesilk!

Uhh, I think I'm almost done coloring the foreground for my Cael painting. I adjusted the saturation levels and will still add a few details (namely some content on the book he's reading!). I also slightly modified his outfit so that this is in line with this month's theme. ^^ I based it mainly off his sixth outfit, but added embroidery and modified the jewel. If you have suggestions on what to add/edit, feedback would be great. For now, I'm gonna start working on the background, finally..

I'm confused.
So I just draw you a picture that isn't traced or stolen or anything, of one of the characters in the uhm.. lists on the first page?
Then I link it here?
Is that it or have I missed something?

Sorry, I'm easily confused. o.o

I'm actually away of the issues in Belarus. It's been having problems for a while, though. At least that loan they were looking for seems to have finally happened -- though the country's massive debt overall would seem to signify there need to be significant changes at other levels. I certainly hope it turns around soon!

It's depressing, yes, but definitely enlightening. Just not the sort of enlightenment most people tune in to watch, understandably. Important to know nonetheless.

Starting to come together nicely, particularly with the folds! Love the book pages, they really have an old parchment feel to them. (: I think you may have over-adjusted just a tiny bit on the hair, but nothing major! I'm not sure if minor changes to an existing outfit quite fits the spirit of the monthly theme, which is to draw a new outfit. It doesn't feel different enough from the existing garment. Maybe adding something along the sides, or changing the hem, or doing something at the shoulder differently?

I'm not sure if you were planning on working on the lips further, but I just thought I'd suggest softening the sides of the lower lip to diminish the lined look and brushing a bit of shadow below the lower lip to strengthen the relationship between the mouth and chin. It's just a few small brush strokes, but it can make a remarkable difference! (Mouths are so tricky anyway, I hate drawing them personally. x_x)

The background is what'll really make the piece, I think! I'm looking forward to it! ^^
