Hey all! Welcome to mine and Chao de Chaos' third, and biggest, art contest! We've decided to bring to you all of our wonderful personalites, four women and four men, to put your artistic talents to! I've been a member of Gaia since November of '03 and in '06 I found my true Gaia-calling: art contests. I love entering them and in '06 I hosted my first one along with Chao. And ever since that contest I have been promising those who entered that we would host a big contest with all of our peeps and a June 04 up for grabs! Then, that letter was worth about 400k. Now, the horns themselves are about 4.5 million. So the letter? A bit more I'd say. And, from time to time, you may even see our subjects in the thread, don't hesitate to talk to them! Also, thanks to the influence of Thornshield's contest, we'll have some casual RP going on. Casual meaning, we set up a setting and some areas that the characters frequent just for this contest! You can bring in your OCs and interact with our characters. It'll be your best opportunity to get to know them and maybe even influence your work. So please, come in, take a look around, draw and chat (In character or not), but most of all, have fun! biggrin

question Do you accept entries over pg - 13?
exclaim Yes, we do. In fact, I would really like to see some more "intimate" pictures between the couples. (Bear in mind, this does not mean they have to be naked or in some sort of comprimising position.) If you aren't sure if it violates gaia's ToS, then pm it to me. Still using the form of course ^^

question Can we ask questions?
exclaim I prefer you post it in the thread rather than pm'ing it to me. But yes of course you may! If something isn't clear please, please ask away!

question Do you accept dollz/pixel art?
exclaim Sure. However, you must provide the link back to the site. And, as a fellow doller, I am aware of many of the sites that do and do not allow you to use their bases in forum sites like Gaia. Also, bear in mind that as of yet, there is no seperate prize for Doll entries.

question Do you accept avatar edits?
exclaim Yes, but like the dollz/pixel art, we do not currently have a seperate prize for these entries.

question Can we draw anyone?
exclaim Of the characters listed, why yes of course. We're not really looking for art of your OCs with our OCs sweatdrop

question Can we deviate from the outfits provided?
exclaim Please do! Get creative, so long as you think it suits the character. (Bear in mind some characters have some particulars to their choice of clothing.)

question Can we do collabs?
exclaim Yes you may. When you submit your piece please specify who the award should be sent to if it's an item. If you and your partner win pure, I will split the money down the middle and send one-half to each. What you do with it after that is up to you ^_^

question Is there any style of art in particular you prefer?
exclaim Not at all. We appreciate all forms of art, hence holding the contest. So feel free to do what you do best or even experiment ^_^

Nicknames: Abbigail, or more commonly Abby.
Age: 19 (But she acts like a little kid)
Phyiscal Appearance: Abby is a short, 4'9". She is very slender, with small bosom, around A-cup. Her hair is short, shoulder-length, and of a brown color with natural light brown and blonde streaks throughout.
Eye color: Hazel (Brown, not green)
Skin Color: pale
Extra: Abby has multiple scars on her neck and arms. They are very thin, and vary in length, from half an inch to two or three inches.
Clothing: Abby loves to experiment with clothing! Pretty colors, patterns, laces, frills, and ribbons, she loves it all! She even loves to dress up like a princess from time to time. She does have a personal rule or two: No skirts above her knee, and no shirts that show her tummy.
Personality: Abby is very fun-loving. She loves to run around play games, go on the swings, and be silly. If she feels like you're yelling at her or being mean she is quick to get pouty and hide.
Likes: Pretty colors, loud (metal/techno) music, cookies, candies, and shiney things. She loves to swing and to act. As for jewerly, anything that'll make her feel like a princess. For everyday wear, she loves to accessorize, plenty of bangles, rings, necklaces, fun earrings, and pretty hair accessories.
Dislikes: She hates the dark or feeling alone. Pain.
Feelings towards others:
Xion: heart Abby and Xixi are a couple. She looks to him as her protector as well.
Chao: Chao and Abby are like brother and sister, Chao being her big brother.
Kolm: It took Abby a long time to warm up to Kolm. She saw him punch Eve in the stomach once and knock the wind out of her, and was scared of him since. Now she can be around him and will even talk to him, but is still a little leery.
Raiel: Abby and Raiel are good friends.
Joey: Her big sister. She loves Joey but Joey likes to tease Abby by hiding her cookies or chasing her through the house.
Carnidine: Carnie is like Abby's mom. She does Abby's hair sometimes, and makes the best meals and reads her stories when she can't sleep.
Eve: Abby loves Eve, even though she doesn't fully understand the relationship between Eve and Kolm.

Nicknames: Carnie
Age: 19.
Phyiscal Appearance: Carnidine is 5'5". She has long black hair, to the base of her spine, which she usually wars in a bun or a long braid, NEVER loose. An average build and a C-cup bosom.
Eye color: Light Brown.
Skin Color: Fair
Extra: Nothing.
Clothing: Carnie likes to dress in a very proper manner. Her skirts are no higher than her ankles, she always wearing a collared blouse, and usually a vest. Think Victorian style. Or something you'd see in Jane Eyre. She usually wears gloves (can be black, brown, solid or lace) and carries either a fan, parasol, or walking stick.
Personality:Though Carnie comes off a bit uptight, she is quite the opposite. While she believes things ought to be a certain way, if you don't agree, she will respect that. She will not force her beliefs down your throat, and will not refuse to associate with you because of your differences. She is very warm, and though only 19, comes off as the mother figure of the household. She sits up straight, speaks properly, and enjoys pleasant conversation.
Likes: Carnie enjoys reading, cooking for the family, and keeping a presentable home.
Dislikes: Dirt, clutter, inappropriate attire, being seen with her hair loose (she thinks it's inappropriate and almost scandalous) and loud noises.
Feelings towards others:
Xion: Xion is a swell guy. She enjoys spending time with him, talking over tea, or even going to the occasional movie.
Chao: Carnie's relationship with Chao is a friendly one. Though there was a time when they were more than just friends, and while Carnidine is happy with who she is with now and who Chao is with, she will still treasure the memories of those times.
Raiel: Carnidine and Raiel are in a relationship of sorts. Though they don't get too see each other too often.
Kolm: Carnidine doesn't really spend alot of time with Kolm, save for passing hello's and goodbye's. Generally, she doesn't have an qualms with him.
Joey: Her twin sister. Carnidine is the elder of the two. Though the two are practically polar opposites they have their moments where they can sit, talk, laugh, joke, Carnidine will even pose for Joey's drawings.
Abby: Abby is the little girl. Carnidine knows fully what Abby has gone through in the past and so dotes on her. When Abby wants she will brush her hair, dress her, make her food. Though just as often, they will spend quiet afternoons sitting in the garden.
Eve: Carnidine tolerates Eve. She loves her like a sister, and like a relative, cannot stand more than half of Eve's habits. Particularly her habit of walking around nude.

Name: Eve
Nicknames: None. Abby, and ONLY Abby, calls her Eevee from time to time.
Age: 26.
Phyiscal Appearance: Eve stands at about 5'8" with seemingly the "perfect" body. All the curves in the right places, a supple bosom (Full D-Cup) and long legs. Though she has a few striking features. Her complexion is slightly tanned with a lavender hue, her eyes are a bright copper, and her hair is short, flipped up on the edges, and white. While it may sound like an odd combination, to look at her, "odd" is the furthest thought from your mind. Rather than resembling a sort of "alien" she looks like a goddess.
Eye color: Bright Copper.
Skin Color: Medium with a lavender hue.
Extra: As above mentioned, Eve has lavender skin, white hair and copper eyes, these are a MUST when drawing her. (Unless it's black&white).
Clothing: Eve is most comfortable in the nude. She has a great body and isn't afraid to show it off. However when she does don clothing she'll throw on a pair of jeans, some are faded and/or torn at the knees or just under her butt and a pair of black lace up boots. When she's just sitting around the house she can be found in tank tops and sweat pants and some sneakers. Or even a tank, some boyshorts, and some flipflops. Any combination of these would be appropriate.
Personality: Generally, Eve had an attitude of "I don't give a ********." She has a bit of a potty mouth and is a violent one. She was born and bred off of pain, it's a necessity to her as much as air, either to cause it to someone or to herself. Her skin retains no scars or bruises. To be hugged or kissed gently frightens her immensely, she runs from it. She spends her spare time in her room working out, taking hot showers, or going for walks in the woods. And when she thinks no one is looking or listening, she can be found playing the acoustic guitar or piano.
Likes: Sex. Water. Almost any kind. Her showers can last hours, just standing under the steaming water. If there's a rain storm she will stroll through the woods in it. Sometimes nude. She loves skin, the way it feels, looks, all of it, and most definately showing it off. Pain. Sex. Purple (any hue, but mostly lavander).
Dislikes: Jewerly. Of any kind. Skirts, even short ones. Anything lacey, frilly, bows, or brightly colored. Painted nails. Hugs. Kisses. Anything gentle.
Feelings towards others:
Xion: Xion is an okay person. He takes care of Abby and treats her well, so he's good in Eve's book. She would like get her hands on him but knows how much that would hurt Abby so she settles for trying to steal a kiss.
Chao: Ah Chao...he's....fun for her. They're good friends though mostly their time together is based on "booty call" status.
Raiel: Carnie's boy toy. He's a minature Chao without the sexiness. She would like to get her hands on him just because she could. He'd like it anyway.
Kolm: Ah, blondie. He's a good guy. He helps Eve when she needs her "fix". And though they don't get to spend much time together date-wise, they make up for it when they do see each other wink
Joey: Her sister. Eve doesn't spend alot of time with Joey save to let her know she's going to snatch Chao for the evening. And to acknowledge that Joey has Kolm.
Carnidine: Carnidine is like that annoying woman that you don't really know but insists on telling you how to behave. Eve greatly enjoys getting on her nerves.
Abby: Abby is Eve's softspot. She loves her dearly and blames her self for Abby's past and the pain she experienced. Everytime she sees her scars it eats at her inside.

Nicknames: None.
Age: 19
Phyiscal Appearance: Joey is 5'5", with long black hair that reaches to about the base of her spine, which she will wear loose, up, down, in ponytails, in buns, whatever suits her mood and matches the outfit. An average build and a C-cup bosom.
Eye color: Light brown.
Skin Color: Fair
Extra: Joey has a tattoo on her lower back. It is of a skull with markings similar to that of Chao's mask, and his wings in the background. Rough Idea: [x] That is just a rough idea, feel free to add as much detail as you like. She also has multiple piercings in both ears.
Clothing: Joey favors the goth/punk style of clothing. She lives for miniskirts, net shirts and fishnets, plaids, collar shirt and tie look, armwarmers, etc. She even wear the occassional corset and longer skirt. Some goth-lol, but again, nothing too frilly or ribbon-y. Spikes and chains are much love. As well as various accessories.
Personality: Joey is a bit of tomboy, she likes her loud music, mosh pits, and occassional club night. She is pretty out-going, likes to talk, hang out, and speak her mind.
Likes: In terms of music, Linkin Park, MCR, Depeche Mode, She Wants Revenge. Painting, drawing, sketching. Anything that involves art. Sitting in the park or at the library and sketching those around her.
Dislikes: Bright, bright colors. Excessive frills and ribbons and bows. Overwhelming happy go-lucky, we'll be friends for ever bullshit. Sailor Moon = NO!
Feelings towards others:
Xion: Abby's boyfriend. Xixi seems pretty nice. Joey has spent a few afternoons hanging out and talking with him.
Chao: Joey loves Chao deeply, there was a time when she thought she lost him but things worked out in the end. And even though she may swing with Eve and Kolm, Chao holds the key to her soul.
Raiel: Joey used to hang out with Raiel alot but when he hooked up with Carnie they haven't seen each other much. She'd probably take to teasing him as much as she does Abby anyway.
Kolm: That sexy "older man". The few times Joey's spent time with Kolm there wasn't much talking involved...
Carnidine: Her twin sister. Joey gets along pretty well with Carnidine. They spend a decent amount of time together, talking and the like. Joey loves to sketch Carnie because, even though they're twins, she feels like Carnidine poses a certain grace and poise.
Eve: Though they're sisters they barely see each other. They do have some sort of odd agreement about switching up partners for some evenings, but that is as far as their interaction goes really.
Abby:Joey loves teasing Abby. She's her little sister and so she treats her like it. She likes to hide her cookies or apple juice, but at the same time, is there for her if she needs a push on the swing.

Phyiscal Appearance: Raiel is about 5'4". His eyes are a sunset orange, with hair messy around 6 inches long to match.
Eye color: Sunset Orange.

Extra: Occasionally can be found wearing a pacman hat.
Clothing: Raiel wears pretty basic clothes, t-shirts, polo shirts, jeans and shorts. His favorite colors are orange and green. Sometimes he'll dig into the other's closets.
Personality: He's erratic, eclectic, odd, studious, and though he's a teen can sometimes be found going "ew" when the others are being couple like.
Likes:Circles, running, candy, video games, music, books, climbing on Kolm (despite being too old) , wearing his hat, any sport, ham and cheese, jumping into piles of leaves, climbing on high objects, practicing guitar, the girls.
Dislikes: Peanut butter, hot weather, wool, mustard, hot sauce, lies, squares, vertical lines, slugs, snails, worms, snoring, shoes, brown.
Feelings towards others:
Xion: "Xion resembles the Uncle who is always there with your favorite uncle. We don't talk often, but I think he'll carry me to bed if Kolm and I are passed out on the couch, and oddly enough he's always there to hear me play if I ask."
Chao: "Chao's the other role model, and probably not a very good influence. He'll always play video games with me, or harass the girls with me if I ask."
Kolm: "Kind of like the really cool father figure. He taught me about the birds and the bees."
Abby: "She's my best girl friend!"
Joey: "I don't hang out with her often, but she seems like a cool person. "
Carnidine: "Hm. We don't get to see each other often, but when we do, we're the closest. I mean, in terms of ... feelings?"
Eve: "Oh man...she has issues. I think she wants to do weird things to me. But, even if she's very unnerving, she's really cool. "

Nicknames: Blondie.(Only eve calls him this)
Age: 36
Phyiscal Appearance: Kolm is an older man, a gentleman, and stands at roughly 6 feet tall. His face boasts enthusiasm, maturity and a kind spirit. His hair is short, about two inches off the top of his head, a bit disheveled, and sometimes hidden under a wide brimmed hat. He adorns a bit of beard stubble, but no mustache! Personality: Intelligent, witty, neat, blunt and a razor sharp tongue. Xion is fairly serious although he's learned to lighten up and smile once in a while. There are few things that he has a soft spot for,his princess Abby, his brothers and the other girls.
Likes: He can be found napping in a hammock or in the grass, eating sleeping, listening to Raiel play guitar, and chatting with Carnidine when he gets the chance. __•___The Women___•___

♥Carnidine♥ - Carnidine lives at The Lunaris. Just past the Common Room, Dining Hall and Kitchen is a small hall that leads to four extra bedrooms. Carnidine sleeps in one, Abby another, and the last two are vacant, reserved for when other family members stay over. The upstairs consists of 5 medium sized bedrooms and 1 large one with a balcony. The entire house has a very friendly and light feel to it. An unfinished jigsaw puzzle sit on a small endtable in the Common Room for guests to work on, there are several armchairs and loveseats, and each bedroom has a theme to it. The curtains vary in different colors of lace, the wallpaper is a beige with a small rose pattern, and the floors are all hardwood.

Carnidine's room is very clean and organized. Her bed a rich mahogany, has four posts, no canopy, and forest green sheets with a white floral pattern. Her vanity is clear save for a small hearshaped porcelien jewerly box, a brush and comb, a reading book, an oil lamp, and a picture frame with a picture of Abby in it. From time to time she'll pull out the photo album in the top right drawer that has more pictures of everyone else. Beside the bay window is medium sized rocking chair, a small blanket draped over the back. The floor is carpeted, and rather than use lightbulbs, Carnidine has two wall mounted candle holders on each wall. There is a chest at the foot of her bed which holds more blankets and shawls, as well as a small bureau on the farthest wall.


♥Abby♥ - Abby's room is right next to Carnidine's. The walls are painted an off-white while the bordered are painted a soft rose. Her bay window oversees the path around the base of the mountain, and in the fall, when the leaves have gone, she can see the lake. Her window sill is cushioned with the same rose color. Her bed is a queen-sized with a canopy, rose colored lace curtains cover the side and foot of the bed. Her vanity is white and cluttered with hair accessories, bracelets and necklaces of all shapes, sizes and colors. Like Carnidine, she has a chest at the foot of her bed, inside various articles she uses for dress-up. Capes, cloaks, large hats, scepters, aprons, and several boas. Abby has two closets, one, along with her bureau holds her everyday wear, skirts, jeans, overalls, colorful shirts and the like. The bottom of that closet is littered with dozens of pairs of shoes, sneakers and rain boots. The shelves in the top of the closet are covered with her bags, purses, and hats. The second closet holds her more precious dress-up wear. Her pretty princess dresses, some pink and white gothic-lolita outfits, and wrapped in plastic is her absolute favorite dress. Between the two closets is another chest that holds her toys, dolls, doll attire, dish sets, and the like. Atop her bureau is a small tv attached to that is her Wii system, she loves playing Cooking Mama.


♥Joey♥ - Joey has her own apartment in Uptown. Not too far from Lunaris or The Winged Harlot. She lives across the street from the Uptown Park, near the library. Her apartment is on the sixth floor, the top floor, and is perfect for one person. Stepping through the front door leaves you in the living room, a cozy area with a small black couch, a coffee table and a respectable television. Her kitchen is off to the left, seperated from the living room by a counter. The area is large enough for two to move between fridge and stove and sink comfortably. Her cabinets are organized with foodstuffs and dishware. Along the back wall, across from the front door, are two medium sized windows. Further to the left is a small hall that leads to the bathroom. To the right is another small hall that leads to her bedroom. Joeys bedroom, in comparison to the rest of her apartment, is strikingly different. Carnidine's knack for keeping a presentable home carried over in Joey except for the bedroom. The walls are covered in a hodgepodge of paintings that Joey did directly on the wall, some of varoius calming scenery, some are of her family members, and some are just splatters of paints. What areas of the wall aren't covered in paintings have been sketched on or don papers torn from her sketchbook that have been drawn on. Mostly sketches of Chao but some are of what she observes in the library or the park. On her ceiling and doorframe are posters of her favorite bands, one of Link from Zelda, and another of Oswald from Odin Sphere. Her twin sized bed is unmade, various articles of clothing draped across it (she usually sleeps in the living room or ontop of the clothes). Her clsoet door is open and inside her varied wardrobe is plainly visible, articles including miniskirts, large "UFO" pants with chains and straps, several pairs of combat boots as well as high-heeled boots, gothic skirts with chains and buckles, corsets, shirts adorned with safteypins and net, all of that and more angrily litter her closet. Her bureau is wood, painted black, five drawers, the first two open. In the first drawer is visible her accessories, spiked collars, skull necklaces, bracers, armwarmers and the like. The second drawer containing her underwear, the rest holding shirts, collar shirts, and slacks and a few pairs of jeans. There is a window beside this bureau, the shades drawn and in front of it an oval, full length mirror, one or two articles of clothing draped across it. She has a computer desk near the door, where she uses her tablet to paint digitally, chat on line, and generally lurk around the internet. This is one of the few areas in the room that is slightly neat and organized, at least enough space for elbow room. Joey's everyday bag, a black messenger bag with several pouches and straps, sits on the floor by the desk. Whenever she goes out she takes it with her, it holds her sketchbook, color pencils, shading pencils, erasers, ipod and cellphone. Joey works at a nearby coffee spot a few blocks from the library.


♥Eve♥ - Eve doesn't stay in one place for too long. She often visits Abby at Lunaris, Kolm at The Chalk Outline or Chao at The Winged Harlot. Eve stays up late and sleeps in later. Because of her looks she can't travel far past the Suburbs, and has to wait until it is dark out to go visit Abby. When she doesn't spend the night at Kolm or Chao's, she does have an apartment in a run-down three story apartment building. She lives on the second floor. Her apartment is a studio, small and austere. She has a fridge, some food, her bed, unmade, no decorations, a small couch, no television, a window with beige venetian blinds, a standing lamp in the corner and some weights. On the table is generally an open pack of cigarettes, she rarely smokes, so the carton is likely to sit there for months. When Eve isn't home or at one of her usual spots she wanders the streets at night, when its generally quiet and calm, she likes the solitude. Her home isn't dirty just plain.

__•___The Men___•___

○Chao○ - Moments away from the Chalk Outline lays a seemingly rundown three story store. The two upper floors renovated by it’s inhabitants. Chao owns the third floor with access to the roof. As you get off the lift that opens to his area, a large studio can be found. Windows line the wall furthest away, a delightful view of the dingy suburbs. Far off to the right, a cozy twin sized bed can be found over a dark brown shag rug. The bed is adorned with a comforter that bears small cute skulls. Steps away, his dresser is packed neatly, his clothing pressed, clean and ready to wear. On top a few photos of him and Joey together, surrounded by smaller frames containing pictures of the others. Towards the center a living area can be found, a glass coffee table between a modest sized TV and a set of sofas for just in case company stops by. To the far left, a kitchen like area furnished with a stainless steel fridge, a small stove and oven, a sink, and a small garbage pail. A few steps away a bathroom has been built to accommodate Chao and his wingspan. The windowed wall is clear of any obstructions. In the very center between the 2nd and 3rd window lies a jukebox filled with all of Chao’s favorite music.


○Xion○ - Xion sleeps in one of the spare first floor rooms in the Lunaris. The room is painted a soft red, the borders a deeper red. When the sheer curtains are pulled back from the bay window, it reveals an amazing view of a hedge. An ornate queen sized bed lies in the center of the room. The headboard displayed Xion’s name carved in the deep sandal wood. The same gorgeous headboard also displayed numerous other carvings; Raiel and Chao’s attempt at vandalism.
At the foot of the bed a large trunk containing all of Xion’s clothing inside. On top of the trunk, one of his few trench coats and a pair of spare boots. On the right side , a small night stand with a lamp and a picture of Abby in her absolute favorite dress.


○Raiel○&○Kolm○ - On the second floor of the same rundown store, reside Raiel and Kolm. If you took the lift to the second floor and peered into the large studio you would find a manly clutter.
To the far right, a large TV sits in the middle of a large wooden fixture that houses most of the most modern gaming consoles, and a dvd player. A few feet away a large futon sits in front of the wooden furnishing. Video games, DVD’s, CD’s and all sorts of media can be seen strewn around the area. Standing tall next to the clutter is a lone bookshelf against the wall, books neatly arranged in alphabetical order, according to author. All around the area, pictures of themselves, the girls, and Raiel’s favorite bands. On the far left a kitchen area can be found. The stove unused and the refrigerator filled with all sorts of fast foods and orange juice. Next to the windows, which offer a view of the rundown building across the street, Raiel's guitar can abe found leaning against his stool and amp. Raiel and Kolm made use of the extra room, and had a bathroom and walk in closet built to suit both of them. The bathroom was kept tidy, disinfected and shiny. The walk in closet is the neatest area in their home. Both keep their sides of the closet pressed, organized by color, and wrinkle free.

___○___THE SETTING___○___

---The city of Ravenhalle is a mid-sized city nestled near the foothills of the Selunae mountains with a population of around 315,000 people. The north side of the city is a rural area of close neighborhoods, farming fields, and subdivisions with little in the way of commercial development. About thirty miles south of the mountains themselves is a small urban area often referred to by locals as 'uptown' or just the city. Most of the commercial business here are small business owners, fast food restaurant chains, and smaller corporate franchises such as grocery, clothing, and other daily needs stores. In the eastern corner of the uptown area is a tranquil park nearby to the local branch of the library. To the southeast of the uptown area is mid-town, somewhat of a misnomer as it sits off the the side of uptown and downtown. Here one can find the large expanse of the local mall along with the hottest night clubs, cinemas, gaming stores, and the best of other local entertainment along with the more popular dining franchises and steakhouses. To the south of uptown and west of midtown lies the downtown area. Considered the heart of the city, downtown boasts several high rise buildings and is where the fancy offices of corporate businesses reside and do business. The offices of the local newspapers and television stations along with the larger branch of the local library can be found here alongside the main hospital, city hall, the mayor's residency, and the main branches of the law enforcement and fire departments. Ringing the southern arc of the downtown area like a crescent moon is the suburbs, a run-down, old-city area left over from where the heart of the city shifted north to downtown. Crime is inevitably worse here than anywhere else in the city as this section tends to be the least patrolled and worst funded part of the city. Despite this, one enterprising soul set up a school for the arts in the heart of the suburb in an effort to reach out to the grasping community around it.

---Transportation in Ravenhalle is well-funded. Subway trains run constantly in the heart of downtown with a few running to mid-town and uptown during the busiest hours of the day. Most mid and uptowners (and to a lesser extent the suburban residents) rely on their own cars or catch buses to their destination. For travel to other cities, states, or countries there is a train station in downtown and an airport between uptown and midtown.

---The climate of Ravenhalle stays fairly mild throughout the year with highs peaking in the upper 90's during the summers and lows rarely if ever going below the teens in the dead of winter. Rain is sporadic but often comes in the form of fierce but generally quickly passing thunderstorms and the area generally sees more ice in the winter than snow. Tornadoes and earthquakes are rare and volcanic activity is non-existant, but it is not unknown for the area to experience bad weather due to hurricanes off the coast to the west. Rivers and lakes are a common feature along the foothills of the mountains in the rural area of the city.

___○___THE COMMON AREAS___○___

The Lunaris Bed and Breakfast - Settled at the foothills of the serene Selunae, the Lunaris Bed and Breakfast is the perfect place for a quiet getaway in the mountains. This two-story building was rennovated from an old plantation house with the larger areas refitted to serve as a common room and a dining room and the upstairs rooms each turned into a peaceful and relaxing overnight suite. The lady Carnidine owns the B&B, overseeing the daily tasks and the small staff employed under her. Abby may often be found there helping out and Xion is known to occupy one of the spare first floor rooms most nights.

The Upper Ravenhalle Library - Found just off the major highway at one of the few bus stops in the uptown area, the Upper Ravenhalle Library may be small compared to its downtown counterpart, but it's just right for the uppertown residents. The library boasts an impressive collection of books and is rumoured to even carry some stranger material that the downtown library refuses to touch. Joey frequents the library finding the quiet setting perfect for when her artistic moods hit. Kolm and Raiel are also known for making appearances at the library when in the area and they say Xion enjoys relaxing on the rooftops where there is usually a gentle breeze.

The Bean Machine - Situated comfortably on the corner of an Uptown street The Bean Machine is a quaint coffee house. The inside is painted a forest green and the floor is carpeted in a light brown. The Bean sports several arm chairs and loveseats of various upholstery beside low coffee tables. It also offers several regular tables scattered in between and many square ones by the large windows. Rather than have shades The Bean has brown curtains to match the carpet, pulled back with ties of the same forest green on the walls, and topped off with a valance of the same hue. The Bean serves coffees, teas, various kinds of lattes, frappacinos, and any other drink one would expect a coffeehouse to serve. They also offer a wide variety of cakes, donuts and small pastries. One could simply walk up to the counter and order something to go, or sit in a chair and wait to be served. Joey works at the Bean Machine Monday-Friday, 10am - 4pm. Though the Bean is open until around 11pm.

The Chalk Outline (Bar) - The local dive of the suburbs, the Chalk Outline is an often rough and rowdy bar where the supernaturals often congregate and the norms brave enough to mingle in drown their fears in liquor. The room has a high ceiling dotted with several ceiling fans and low-wattage globe lights that provide enough illumination to see while still maintaining a dingy, dark atmosphere. The wide, square bar station rests in the center of the room, the gantry column rising from the floor to display the various bottles of beer and wine as well as the taps and glasses. Tables are spread out around most of the rest of the room with a few booths next to the wide windows near the entrance where the faint glow of the neon signs outside can be seen flickering fitfully. A small corridor leads back opposite the entrance and branches off with the restrooms to the left while flourescent light trickles intermittently through straight ahead from the small pool hall. The bar's owner, Kolm, and his girlfriend Eve can be found there most nights and sometimes Joey drops by for a drink.

The Winged Harlot - A small nightclub nestled in the heart of mid-town, the Winged Harlot is perhaps one of the best places to party and have fun when the sun goes down. Located conveniently near the mid-town mall and with the campus of the Ravenhalle University not too far away at the border of downtown, the club often attracts a younger crowd in the early hours of the night, but is exclusively for those of age after 2am. The club may be small compared to some of its competition, but many like the exclusive atmosphere that comes with entry. The dance floor rocks all night with the best and most popular dance music provided by the DJ off to the side in his booth, and the club is equipped with lighting that casts the floor in shades of red, blue and purple. The outer edge sports tables for those who want to relax for a few moments and in the center ring is the stage where live bands perform on some nights. The Winged Harlot is owned by Chao and as such Joey often frequents it.

Tolerance - To better accomodate characters of particular descent or with certain attributes (i.e. you vampires, demons, etc) there is a supernatural undertone to the setting. However, different areas of the Ravenhalle will tolerate your differences to different degrees. Keep this in mind when you wander around baring fangs or sporting wings.

---Downtown - This area of Ravenhalle is the least accepting in terms of differences and the supernatural. Bureaucrats don't like "freaks" and would be quick to whip out the proverbial "torches and pitchforks".

---Uptown - A little more lenient on their tolerance, but still rather restricted. People don't want to really believe there are supernatural beings out there. --The Library is located in the west part of Uptown.--

---Mid-town - Due to general disregard and assumption Mid-town is likely to be much more lenient when dealing with the Supernatural. Oddities are a common sight and though they might not be taken for what they actually are, they're accept. For example, the sight of an actual vampire would be passed off as a fad or fetish. --The Club is located in Mid-town.--

---The Suburbs - Considering the run-down nature of the suburbs, this is likely to be a haven for almost any being of the supernatural. The chance of running into a jumpy "norm" is low and so it would be much easier to be yourself. --The Chalk Outline is located in the Suburbs.--

---The Rural Area - The concept of the supernatural in these quaint and quiet homes extend about as far as the creature under the sink or the monster in your closet. Superstituious stories passed down to keep your children in check. It's hard to say how a "norm" would respond when confronted with the truth. --Lunaris Bed and Breakfast is located just past the Rural Area at the foot of the mountains. While tolerance at Lunaris is high, it would be wise to conceal yourself on the way there.--
