That's what I thought but when I went for jobs I didn't have enough experience in either particular subject - it got very frustrating. I wish I had done single honours...so I hope you don't end up in the same boat! I'm lucky enough to have a job but it's not where I want to be :/

To be honest, I did want to do single honours Politics, but I thought it looked a bit rubbish on its own.
And i've always done well in Sociology do I decided to do it with that.
The two fit together well enough that sometimes you can't have one without the other.
This gives me an advantage in university, I hope it does in the world of work.
Our lecturers always said that if you study one social science you will most likely cover all five (Politics, Sociology, History, Economics and Philosophy)
Well i'm hoping my first graduate job would be in the Civil Service.

Have you managed to find a job in the field?

They sound better matched than Media Studies and Psychology! With the exception of advertisement maybe?
I was unemployed for 8 months and ended up temping but then got a permanent job out of it which I have been in since October 3nodding I work in public service so...not really :/

They work well together, it gives you a big advantage in my university since most sociology modules also run on a political base.
(i.e welfare from ww2 to thatcher, then thatcher - now, social construction of crime and its legislation, crime and the justice system).
It'll be harder anyway because politics is dominated by men.
Even the course is, the women are a small minority.
Maybe thats one way I can set myself apart, by being female xd .

Ah. Do you enjoy your job though? It probably doesn't help the economy still isn't brilliant.

That's true...I wish I was more politically minded! sweatdrop
I wish you luck in your course and in the job market!
It's alright I guess...just an office job in finance. Can be stressful at times but it's okay, stable I guess. Still looking though~I'm so creative so my job is kind of stifling!

I've been brought up politically minded.
My dad is a Thatcherite, but my mum is a Liberal Democrat supporter. I've been raised by a coalition!
And my family has a massive middle class/working class split; with my paternal side being so middle class, and my maternal side being very working class. Being brought up seeing both sides of the coin helps to see inequality and other issues.

So i've always wanted to do something like politics, but then a series of events just strengthed the 'want'. Makes me seem a bit of a dreamer to say I want to change things, but I do.

I must be doing something right because I got a postal invite from the Labour Party to attend a conference next month. Never voted Labour, so I dunno where my details came from (maybe from the university) It'll be good to discuss issues face to face with politicians.

Oh fair enough. I think i'd still be looking too, I can imagine it being a bit tedious!
