Alrighty. Chapter 12. The Cell Cycle. Interphase where the cell is growing and the mitotic phase where the cell is dividing:
Interphase:
-G1 cell is growing
S DNA is synthesizing
G2 cell is growing more
-M cell replicates
Mitosis:
-Prophase
-Prometaphase
-Metaphase
-Anaphase
-Telephase.

-Sister chromosomes pair up
-Centrosomes start moving to the poles
Prometaphase
-nuclear envelope begins to break down
-microtubes extend from centrosomes and attach to kineticores on chromosomes
Metaphase
-Sister chromosomes line up in middle of cells
Anaphase
-Sister chromosomes split and move towards poles of cell
Telephase
-Cell begins to pinch
-Chromosomes begins to unravel
-Nuclear envelope begins to form n daughter cells

-Cleavage furrow forms (heehee, cleavage).
-Actin filaments shorten like a draw string and pinch the cell in two in the middle

In plants, a cell wall grows between the two cells. Plasma membranes extend on both sides of the wall and join with those of the two daughter cells.

so the cell cycle is apparently regulated by cyclins. these bind to kinases and turn them on and off.

MPF "M-phase promoting factor" triggors the cell to move from G2 to M phase.
