This will be just my little corner of the ball, which includes how I enter, what I do, and who I have with me. Of course this will be set in a ballroom with all the opulence and amenities that I suppose a place that's been around so long would be likely to have. Though I am expecting fairly little activity, feel free to join us and enjoy the ball with us.

EDIT: Just to keep things moving along at a decent pace, we do want those who are generally willing to post more than every couple hours. As a general guideline, try to limit the time between your post and the last to a half hour or less. If you can't meet that kind of timeline, we do ask that you write yourself out.
Also, I believe the classification for the type of roleplay is semi-lit. Don't trouble yourself over the length or word count too much, but do observe proper spelling and grammar to the best of your abilities.

Outside
:
A chill filled the air first as a great shadow that seemed to carry with it a sense of unease fell upon the land as the great lich-ship Graveyard materialized, as if through a process of quickened inverted decay. Anyone looking up from that area would see the dark shape that was Matasoga descend slowly, carrying a small, lithe figure in his arms. His face was passive but his dual sets of wings beat furiously as his cape positively billowed out behind him. His wings beat ever harder as he and his companion touched down.
He did not outwardly appear winded, and stood tall, as he set her down. He drew forth his hat from an extradimensional pouch at his belt, and tugged the brim into place, as he said "Well then... Shall we see what's in store for this year's event?

Dangerous Dabbler

Ai looked up suddenly as a frigid shiver moved throughout her body. She urgently looked around her, surveying the area in a desperate attempt to locate the source of the warning that left her body feeling empty and on edge. Her eyes caught a shadowed figure that seemed to float above the earth and trail darkness and entropy in its wake. While she knew better to avoid such a creature, her curiosity won over her judgement and she crept toward the figure that stood above its surroundings. She kept her guard up, ready to draw her blade at any moment.

Shanderaa clung tightly to him as they descended, nuzzling into his chest slightly, feeling like the coolest and luckiest person at the ball-- no, in the whole entire world. This... was really freaking awesome.

She hopped down from his hold as they approached the ground, relieving him of the extra burden she no doubt provided. Once safely down, she pulled on her hat and tugged down her brim in a way that mirrored him, and replied, "Yes sir!", following wherever he may lead.

Matasoga looke/d to the girl whose face bore a look of trepidation and said, "It would seem that we have company."
He stepped in front of Shanderaa, but not too close to the girl that stood before them, gave a courtier's bow before crisply standing again, speaking, as he did, "Greetings. My name is Matasoga and this is my companion, Shanderaa. Might I ask your name?"

Matasoga

Ai stood tense in the presence of the strange pair. She glanced them over as she curtsied and replied sharply. "Ai, my name is Ai. What are you?" The question came out forced and shaky; it betrayed her demeanor and broke her facade.

"Well," he began with a tone of civility. He tried not to be offended, knowing that his manner of dress did nothing to offset the already unnerving countenance that his bodily appearance gave. He hesitated before going on, thinking of how best to explain himself.
"To make a long story short, I am half blue dragon and half human... With some... Bodily modifications via alchemical process," he said. "If, that is, your question is racial. My companion is all human, though I don't know to what effect she owes her curious hair color."
"If," he went on, "your question was not racial, we are simply two patrons here to enjoy the ball... We are in the right place, I hope."

Matasoga
Red stained Ai's cheeks as she realized too late the insensitivity of her words. She bowed her head slightly and gestured in the direction of her original destination . "Y-yes. Just a bit further than this."

"Lovely," said Matasoga brightening. "Would you care to join us?"
((At this point I'm afraid I really must be getting to sleep. I'm sure that I'll be up and ready within 12 hours. I'll quote you again, when I return, but if you'd rather rejoin us later, feel free to break away now and write yourself back in whenever you like.))

Matasoga
"Thank you but..." Ai stumbled over her words as she took as few steps back. "I really must go a head and make sure Ukiyo is allowed and won't cause problems!" She bows slightly before running off to ball, too embarrassed at her rash behavior to say anymore. ((KK. Thanks for the fun))

Shanderaa watched as their company left their presence just as quickly as she'd arrived. She turned to her master, looking a bit confused at the whole exchange. "Oooookay then. Well..." Her attention shifted a bit further down the path, the entrance to the ball beckoning to them with its bright lights and the faint sound of music. "Shall we?"

(( Will resume this tomorrow, as well! ))

((We're back, now.))
Matasoga smiled, knowing that his companion likely didn't notice that her actions now were a mirror of his when he had begun to lead her from his manor. He put his arm through hers, the end position looking more like she had taken his arm and they walked her down the path and entered the building.

The Ball:

He saw, as usual, the main ball room and many doors that he knew lead to smaller (but still dancably spacious) rooms to all sides, but before any of that was a reception desk with information. Matasoga said "I hadn't heard anything of a theme this year, and by the looks of this there really wasn't one."
He lifted a sheet listing the different rooms and their functions and handed one sheet to her while he read another himself.

"So it'd seem... Probably for the best, because I'm not changing out of all this." She read over the directory, none of the rooms really jumping out as especially interesting. She looked up from the list to Matasoga. "Well. Where to, sir?" she asked.

Matasoga frowned in thought. This 'Haunt of Vice' might be promising, but I really don't care for how they decided to use symbol type instead of letters. That's so.." he trailed off.
He rolled his eyes before flicking his slitted pupils back to the paper and muttering "I'd almost prefer that it were types in comic sans. Besides, it seems like there is a vampire there."
He looked up from the paper to Shanderaa. "It's depressing enough to know that we're in such a place that even allows such an animal through the front door, much less accepts them to a station of any authority."
He replaced the paper on the table and said, "I guess that settles it, then. We'll stick to the main room, unless you object."

"Comic sans? Yikes, that's pretty harsh... I get what you mean though. What, are normal letters too mainstream for them?" She looked around, suddenly looking a bit more serious. "Though, do keep in mind where we are. There are going to be more than a few of those things about. And this isn't the kind of event we can fight them in..." She had no doubts that he'd behave himself here, but still... it was in her nature to worry. "But yeah, here's fine with me. Hopefully we can find something to do in here, anyway..."
