omg really? eek
damn...
tbh i didn't really know psych forums exist!

people who populate internet forums in 2023 (hello Gaian) in general have such a heightened percentage chance of being totally off their ******** rocker lol but damn that's a shame that type of stuff reeks

wooooaaaahhh. this is such an illuminating and for me boundary-breaking reply
thank you for taking the time!

your knowledge about Jung is actually pretty extensive compared to mind.
knowing anything about him having "race realism" type views doesn't ring a bell.

what's so interesting and what I'm calling boundary-breaking is that,
in my experience, I thought that a lot of people were predisposed toward disbelieving or disregarding Jung because they considered his work to not be empirical
and while I don't even know nearly enough about his work, because I've been inspired by and resonant with the archetype stuff recently, i was (knowingly) sort of embodying a fanboy type of vibe in my reply where i was defending him from perceived criticism as a sort of safeguard for me to continue perhaps putting him on a pedestal myself

what's interesting about it is that I was thus far approaching his work with a lower level of criticism because I thought that he was generally not regarded by the types of people who Deify Institutions And Decry All Dissent

Um yeah and then, lot of the stuff that I was typing, I wasn't sure what your opinion on those things were (I tried to acknowledge that there too but can't remember if I did ha ha) but I had a slight presumption that you were skeptical of Jung because you might be one of those people who needs the Official Science Stamp Of Approval x___x

I got a bit soap-boxy or at least just was over-elaborating like, "making my case" for why it's actually pretty cool to be skeptical of capital S science.
But you're already well on that train.

I don't think anything about your reply is assholish at all, and I appreciate you educating/cluing me into some s**t about Jung that perhaps I should know
I am grateful that evidently my comment wasn't so presumptive that it put you off

yeah no you made great sense
we have more in common than I could've realized
and you choose your words very eloquently which I appreciate

just seen your reply about jung and such

just wanted to share where i'm at in that realm in case it interests you
if not no worries lol I typed a good amount
i expect that some will be resonant! i'm not sure, but i'd be stoked to hear your thoughts or if you have been having a similar life experience

as I've been, as they say, decolonizing my mind,
i've recently been facing how unreliable the medical and healthcare systems truly are
in regards to mental health care i.e. pharmaceuticals, and medical treatment i.e. prescriptions serving as band-aids and always causing side-effects that ooo surprise warrant another prescription to offset those, or surgery/invasive procedures that often don't even solve the underlying problem and leave people with complications and regrets...

basically, I mean to say that, science, like the internet, is technically great. insanely so. but "Science" as a mantra is wielded to uphold the status quo and to serve the interests of our ruling corporations, and to keep us detached and estranged from our own feelings on what we truly need that lie within each of us
we like to think of science as unbiased, as it's supposed to be of course, but like the politicians, the people conducting and publishing studies are often in the pockets of corporations. tons of studies are commissioned by the corporations producing a product themselves who want backing that says "see? it's proven that you need this." it's just how it is.

it is of course something that requires a good amount of discernment and healthy skepticism, knowing this, and proceeding to navigate the worlds of alternative medicine or anything else not sanctioned as "empirically factual" by the West and its entities. lots and lots of discernment. because alternative medicine is also an industry here. everyone wants to sell you something. everyone.

so, as far as Jung and his ideas which may not be double-blind placebo trials or what have you... i just, i don't think that it's actually wrong to go off of your feelings, and to go off of anecdotal cases of the people around you in your life whose opinions you might value to any degree. literally even people on gaia. for me personally. i like to believe that the things that i notice, or the connections that appear before me, all have something to teach me if i stop and notice a pattern.
there are so many people now who talk about shadow work really having a profound impact on their overall stability and self-concept, but it's so in the best interest of the medical + psychiatric industries and The Powers That Be to continue discrediting and fostering distrust toward anything that isn't proven through imaging tests or controlled trials. meanwhile, Psychiatry, a supposed scientifically-sound practice, involves talking to a person who doesn't want to hear about the personal circumstances of your life nor your emotional state because "that's for your therapist" for 15 minutes every few months, and with that, makes their best guess/deduction at which chemical isolates that change the way your brain works and how you exist in the world to prescribe to you in hopes that it's a good fit for your allegedly inherited chemical imbalance. and if you break down or get worse or go a little nuts, oops, it just wasn't the right one. let's try again. i'm far from alone in being done with accepting the lie that a system like *that* is the Best of the Best so far. that *that's* Science.
