It Is All About Me

User Image

"Welcome to my humble abode. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Morrigan Celia Achard. You can call me Morrigan for short."

Name: Morrigan Celia Achard
Height: 5 ft 8 in
Weight: 120 lbs
Date of Birth: December 16, 1135 (Total Age: 875)
Race: Human/Demoness
Magic Rank: Sorceress
Familiar: Velasco the Raven

The Beginning

Morrigan Celia Achard was born into the noble House of Achard. Morrigan's father was an exceptionally brutal knight known as Giles Achard. For his brutality on the battlefield, he was often called the Knight of Gore. Morrigan's mother was a simple noblewoman named Cecelia; she was nothing more than a prize to be wed to Giles for his faithful service to his lord. It was widely known that Cecelia was very unhappy with her union with Giles.

Morrigan was soon born and was spoiled from the very beginning. As she grew older, she was the typical vain and stuck-up daughter of a knight. Morrigan's spoiled life brought on a mischievous nature that grew worse as she aged. When she was not pulling pranks or admiring her own reflection, Morrigan was a voracious reader. It was uncommon for a young lady of Morrigan's stature to care about literacy, but she wanted her mind as sharp as her appearance.

When Morrigan turned sixteen, she began to have strange dreams. At first, they were of no concern. A being with deep crimson skin and eyes that were pools of darkness often appeared in her dreams, mocking Morrigan and her mother. "Your mother is a desperate wench" and "You're of my brood" were constant phrases this mysterious figure would state. As the dreams became more vivid, she could make out his ram-like horns, cloven feet, and spade-tipped tail. This figure of Morrigan’s dreams was a demon!

The Path of the Demon

From the demon's words, Morrigan learned he was in fact her father. How could this be true? It was too much for Morrigan to take. She began to talk to her mother about these delusions, but Cecelia only looked at her daughter with shame. Cecelia told Morrigan to be brave. These wild dreams became more and more vivid, and by the time she was seventeen, Morrigan was driven partly mad. Her pranks, partially harmless, became completely cruel. In one instance, Morrigan took the ponytail of one of her servant girls; it was a rather long ponytail. With a burning candle, Morrigan set the tip of the ponytail on fire! Another instance was when Morrigan fed poison mushrooms to a starving peasant. Her increasingly cruel nature went unhindered as Giles was often away in battle and Cecelia was too preoccupied with her own sorrow to do anything.

At age eighteen, Giles returned home indefinitely. He informed Morrigan that she would be wed to his former squire, a man named Cadby. Giles thought Morrigan would be happy with this news; Cadby was a hardworking young man and would be a good provider for Morrigan. Instead of thanking her father, Morrigan thrust her knee in his crotch and proclaimed that "No man will own me!"

Despite her protests, the wedding date had been set and Morrigan's fate seemed sealed. That night, the image of her nightmares appeared before her. Sensing her despair at being a prize to be married away like her mother, he appeared. Strangely, Morrigan was unafraid. She welcomed his presence! He explained he would take her to a dark realm where she could be free to do as she wished without restraint. With the choice of either marrying Cadby or leaving with a demon, Morrigan accepted the demon's offer. It was then that the demon introduced himself as Baph.

The Path to Sorcery

Baph revealed himself as a demon of sorcery. In the past, humans evoked his power. However, he demanded repayment for his services. He explained that Cecelia's family was part of a cabal that once worshiped Baph as a god, but their faith in him began to falter. Sorcery had been imbued into Cecelia's bloodline. For her family's lost worship, Baph took everything dear to Cecelia. From that point on, Morrigan was a changed girl. She accepted Baph as her father and revered him above all else. For years, Morrigan would study under Baph's few remaining faithful. In her studies, Morrigan proved herself to be a very gifted pupil.

Over time, Morrigan realized she was being used by Baph. She was being groomed to be his most devout servant. Was it his hope that Morrigan brought him a new flock of faithful? She knew she was in a huge predicament. With that on her mind, she worked even harder. Some sorcerers of Baph were unwilling to teach Morrigan anything that could be used against Baph, but she used her beauty to charm them, make them teach her. She eventually gained enough strength to confront Baph. In a devastating battle that nearly destroyed the Castle of Baph, Morrigan vanquished Baph! The demon's servants quickly allied themselves with Morrigan as she proved her dominance.

The Path to Eternal Youth

After Baph's defeat, magic had simply become a game to the sorceress. However, there was one dilemma. One day, as she gazed into her reflection, she had a dreadful epiphany. Though Baph's blood probably would slow down her aging, she would still grow old. The image of herself as a toothless old hag filled Morrigan with dread. Now obsessed with her own self-preservation, Morrigan desperately looked over the tomes she had inherited from her deceased father. To her delight, Morrigan found the location of the Fountain of Youth. With the location set, Morrigan and her minions ventured to the Fountain of Youth. However, what she found was a dried up hole in the ground...

Undeterred, Morrigan salvaged the soil from the parched fountain and studied it. Study of the soil took many years. Well into her 40s, with a few distinguished wrinkles revealing her age, Morrigan was able to recreate the youth restoring properties of the soil she acquired. She would create an anti-aging cream of sorts that prevented her from aging beyond her 40s.

The Dark Infatuation

In the year 1895, Morrigan met a lich by the name of Charles Ashdown VI. They met at a magic college on another plain. The two would spark a friendship of sorts. His graceful mannerism and intellect piqued her curiosity.

I'm surprised I haven't encountered you before.
I enjoyed learning about your character. Was she perhaps inspired of Morgane le Fay?
