I am fifteen years of age and I am a high-school student in the town of Karakura. I never knew my parents, I only know that they didn't want children who were different. So, when I was just a baby, my brother Sora ran away with me and started life anew. We lived together for ten years and never once argued. But, one day, I hurt his feelings when I didn't like a pair of hairpins he got for me and I didn't say goodbye to him when he left for work. He died that day. I still have regret, but as much as I can, I pay respect to the memory of my onii-chan and always wear those hairpins he gave me.
My best friend, Tatsuki-chan, helped me gain my confidence back after my onii-chan died. She also trained me in karate and now, she says, I have the fighting skills of an official black belt! We met one day when she was defending me against bullies who were teasing me about my hair, and we have been friends ever since. Now, I wear my hair long as an honor of that day.
I have always known of Kurosaki-kun, since it was him who answered the door when I brought my onii-chan to the clinic the day that he died. However, once I really got to know him, my ordinary life had changed completely. I soon discovered that there was a whole other world hidden from the eyes of humans; I even found out that shinigami are real! Through Kurosaki-kun's extraordinary power, I attained an incredible ability of my own: the Shun Shun Rika. They are six little creatures that reside in my hairpins and can be activated with special incantations, giving me the ability to shield, heal, and attack enemies.
Sadly, even with this ability, I haven't been of much help to my friends. I am indebted to so many people who have saved me, but I want to get stronger so I can help protect those who are close to me. I know what it's like to feel alone, and I don't want anyone to ever feel like that.
