A Good Man is Hard to Find? Yeah, well, so is an artist. |

Right you were, Flannery O' Connor, right you were. But you know what else is hard to find? A semi-skilled artist to collaborate with.
As anyone who actually reads this journal is well aware of by this time, I am a writer. I love writing, and I want to create comics/manga with my stories. In order to achieve this dream, I have searched forums far and wide to find someone to work with. A couple times I've even gotten a little nibble on my fishing line. Unfortunately, I can never keep them in the boat once I reel them in (Okay, fishing metaphor is over now).
The first person I ever wanted to create a manga with was my friend, but she didn't have the time or desire. The second person I found seemed great. We actually began Ethereal Euphoria and got the comic running. She wasn't able to have regular updates, but I was okay with that. I didn't even complain when we didn't even get one page up a month. Now, of course, she's dropped off the face of the earth. I've been unable to contact her through AIM, and she didn't respond to my e-mails. Thus, much to my dismay, I was forced to put EE on indefinite (aka eternal) hiatus.
I've talked to several artists since then, and agreed to work together with them. Unfortunately, they, too, seem to have disappeared from the earth (seriously, is that disappearing act something they teach to all artists?) in the beginning stages of the stories.
It really gets me disheartened and depressed when this sort of stuff happens. I want to create a manga so much, but that dream is looking less and less achievable. It makes me wonder if there is something wrong with me. I don't know.
(If you didn't get the title or the first lines, I'm referring to Flannery O' Connor's short story, "A Good Man is Hard to Find." It's a pretty good story, particularly if you don't like annoying grandmothers very much.)
