I've always considered life as a puzzle... where you have to put the pieces together....
My family, friends.... everyone I know.... I'm the person who has to figure things out for myself. Always left out. Secluded. Solitary. I've always been like that. I always feel as if I'm the puzzle piece from another box. The one piece that just doesn't fit. You can re-shape the puzzle piece as much as you want. Cut. Re-shape. Make into another. But the reality is that it's still the same puzzle piece that doesn't fit in.
Everyone wants to fit into the puzzle. To be "known". They want to be a "leader". But in turn, THEY are the follower. The followers of each other. They follow the mainstream. They try and change their puzzle piece to fit into the larger puzzle of society.
Though, there are still those who don't try and change. Those people are the true leaders. The actual people who follow their own paths. But that path is the more harder, perilous, and lonely.
You see, society has become more lazy than 100's or even 1000's of years ago. Back then, there was hard labor. Labor that built the society we live in today.
Look at Martin Luther King Jr., he worked hard to bring forth a great future of oppurtunity to african americans. A rennaisance or equality. But if he was still alive today, would he be proud of what has happened? Women, majority being african american, grinding on each other on television. Young teenagers throwing away their education away because their friends say they are "acting white". At a Democratic Convention in 2006, this year, Barrack Obama announced these issues.
I'm probably the only person BESIDES my Kuya Joseph who are aware of these issues. People who don't want to learn, who don't want to broaden their horizons are ignorant. You see, my cousins do alot of things that aren't right, legally and morally. They try to act like my older cousins. The only thing that seperates them is the fact of education. One of my cousins, doesn't want his education. This is because he watches to much MTV or BET. He is deeply influenced by it. But that's just the beggining. His whole persona changes when he's around his cousins. What he likes, dislikes, how he talks. It's like he's a different person.
This is because he changes his puzzle piece as he see fits.
But a puzzle piece that has been changed, will always be the same old piece.
My Dad told me that we were on two seperate paths. I don't agree. Because we share the same past. Though our paths lead to two different places. Though they start a two different places. They have met. Which means our paths will cross again.
Maybe next time, I can help him realize what he's doing. Before it's too late.
he completely shuts out all of us who want to help him. There's still hope. Hope that he can rewrite his future. Because, unlike the set in stone past, the future can always be rewritten.
