hello again...I'm sorry for not updating...the computer got kind of boring for a time...so I kind of drifted away from it...
Last weekend was...fun...I went to the archery range on saturday. I love shooting so much, it just feels like I found my place, with my bow in hand- anyways...I was practicing at 20 yards that day. 10 yards was being occupied by new shooters, so I didn't want to disturb their learning. Besides, I needed to start shooting at 20 yards more often anyway, so it all worked out fine. Matt and Joe decided to play a game at 30 yards and asked if I wanted to play as well. I can't resist a challenge, so I accepted their offer, even though I had never shot at 30 yards before. Joe placed a shiny Pop-tarts wrapper in the center of a 30 yard target. We each shot 3 arrows, the arrow that actually hits the wrapper wins. Matt and Joe insisted that I go first, they seemed to like the idea of seeing what their up against. So I went first, and my arrow hits not one centimeter above the wrapper. Mind you, this was my very first time shooting at 30 yards. Man, their expressions were hilarious! Daniel was watching, and he just started laughing. They had one hell of a time trying to top that shot. Neither of them, nor myself, hit that close after that shot. So we take a break, it was really hot out. After a while we decide to go around the animal course, and have little contest again. Two arrows per target, farthest arrow from the kill zone collects the arrows and gets to choose the next shot. It seemed fair enough. We got through 8 targets, the score was 2-2-4, Matt had 4 and Joe and I were tied at 2. It was like golf scoring, lowest score at the end wins. At the 8th target, I had to collect the arrows, so I got to choose the shot position for the 9th target. The guys wanted a challenging shot. They wanted me to go onto the stair case right next to the target and shoot down at it. The problem with that is that the stair case is only for tournament use, nothing else. I had remembered once during a tournament, there was a pathway in the bushes next to the target that made for an interesting shot. So I went into those bushes, looking for the angle of the shot for the pathway. But before I could find a good angle, I feel a sharp pain stab as hard as it could into my right arm, about an inch above my elbow. It hurt so bad I nearly dropped my bow. Then I look up and see a big yellow wasp fly slowly away, as if mocking me for what it had just done to my arm. "OWWW!!!!!!!" I somewhat shouted, then ran out of the bushes. Joe and Matt complained that I led them in their for nothing, I hardly heard them, it hurt so bad, like 6+ giant needles being shoved into my arm over and over again. I cut of the guy's complaints (which were mostly Joe's) as I walked quickly away saying over my shoulder "I'm going back, I got stung by a wasp!" I walked as quick as I could, not wanting to run, that would only make the pain worse. Matt and Joe were walking some 20 yards behind me. I could hear Matt talking in a worried voice "I heard if you put mud on a sting, it helps" was all I caught, but he was talking to Joe, not me, so I didn't respond, and Joe was mumbling something I didn't catch. Then Matt called out to me: "Are you allergic?!" he said, I just looked over my shoulder, not daring to stop walking: "Yes." Then Matt had this super worried look on his face and said "oh crap." I quickly walked into the range shack, hung up my bow, and tried to take my quiver off my back without moving my right arm...this resulted in my arrows falling to the ground. Irritated, I let out a sigh and leaned forward to pick them up, at that moment Matt suddenly appeared and said "I'll take care of it." I was so gratefull for that, I couldn't waste any time, so I quickly said "thank you" and rushed down to the restroom area, where there was a water fountain with dirt close by. I made some mud and rubbed it on my arm. Before I knew it Matt was standing beside me saying "Don't tell me you took my advice?" Joe was sitting close by. I called my mom and told her what had happend, she freaked out and rushed over to the range as fast as the speed limit allowed. Joe and Matt stayed with until me mom came and got me. I feel so bad for making them worry about me. It also ruined our contest! I own them a rematch this saturday....
