Two Popular Technologies Used for Rug Cleaning
The two popular traditional technologies for cleaning rugs include the use of hot water or steam and dry cleaning. Hot water cleaners often spray hot water combined with cleaning agents. While water is applied, vacuuming also takes place, to extricate grime, allergens and dirt. Steam cleaning uses a high water pressure extraction system that combines cleaning agents such as ammonia and acidic solutions to clean synthetic and woolen rugs respectively. Most cleaners that use dry cleaning or bonnet technologies make use of specialized technologies such as VLM or Very Low Moisture systems. These systems are modeled to use dry cleaning compounds and cleaning solutions while working to ensure faster drying times with less labor demands. To clean heavily muddied areas, specialized detergents or emulsifiers can be applied manually or pre-treated on the designated material. Chemicals solutions such butyl, di-limonene and glycol can also be applied as part of the pre-treatment process to make the vacuuming process easy.

In this post, some suggestions were taken from Carpet Call to enable readers to learn better options about cleaning a rug.

New Cleaning Technologies

Some of the newer rug cleaning technologies include the Encap cleaning, Pad cleaning, ReadySpace cleaning and Cimex cleaning. The Encap rug cleaning technology is a low moisture cleaning technique. ReadySpace technology, on the other hand, combines the Cimex and Pad Bonnet cleaning technologies to extract and clear dirt. The extraction method incorporates backward and forward movements to eliminate sand and dirty water. ReadySpace systems operate using two powerful vacuum shoes that transfer soiled water into the recovery tank. This patented cleaning technology works to increase the life span of rugs. Although the Encapsulation cleaning technology has been around for about two decades, recent development in the polymers sector have given rise to various advances. These changes have seen many cleaning manufacturers come up with more efficient cleaning machines that make cleaning and drying much easier. The Cimex cleaning equipment includes an assortment of carpet and floor cleaning devices.

The easy and safe to use Cimex cleaning devices are designed to produce unbeatable performances. The machines are trained to work better on heavy duty surfaces to remove grime, oil and dirt. Good examples of Cimex cleaners are Cimex Diamond Finisher for cleaning heavy duty surfaces such as concrete grinding and stone and Cimex Cyclone carpet encapsulation cleaning machines. This machine features self reversing capabilities that helps restore cleaning pads and brushes. The carbonated shampoo cleaner or carpet bonnet cleaning machine uses hard floor spray buffing techniques to clean carpets. The bonnet cleaning solution is applied by either immersing the bonnet solution without causing drips or by putting the bonnet cleaning agent in water before wringing. Despite the common misapprehension, carpet bonnet cleaning is not a true dry cleaning system. The advantages of using this cleaner include low equipment cost, quick drying, and the ability to produce less wicking results.

Cleaning Machine Components

Today, professional cleaning machines are fitted with enhanced features such as powerful suction systems, clean surge enablers, air heating fixtures, counter rotating brushes and pressurized jet sprays. The clean surge feature is designed to allow the cleaning machine to dispense extra cleaning detergent for better results. The counter rotating brush heads, on the other hand, are especially built to eliminate stubborn stains. The pressurized jet spray performs a number of functions including; widepath cleaning, stain removal, auto-rinsing and operating on various modes such as wash mode. The key standard components on most cleaners include pumps, recovery tanks, solution tanks, heating functionary, vacuum and an array of accessories. Pumps are designed to produce water injecting pressure. The pressure typically range from a high of 500 psi and 60 lbs per square inch. The solution tanks are the reservoirs of rinse water. On the other hand, the recovery tanks are designed to hold water, alongside cleaning chemicals as well as the extracted dirt. The recovery tank can carry as much as 15 gallons of water.

The heating units on rug cleaning machines usually heat the rinsed water to higher temperature of up to 210 Fahrenheit in the shortest amount of time possible. The water heating systems include single and double inline heating elements. The vacuuming elements on most cleaning devices are fashioned to extract water and cleaning solution, before it is emptied into a holding extraction tank. The vacuuming system uses motorized devices that are available in different configurations, such as three 2-stage motors and single 3-stage motors. To obtain optimal performance, choose a motor that is fitted with at least two motor stages. The vacuuming power is calibrated according to water lift and airflow. Water lift it measures the strength of the vacuum suctioning; the lift measurements ranges from 100 inches to 300 inches or above. The airflow refers to the air movement through the machine. Airflow on cleaning machines is measured in CFM. The accessories include water extracting and dispensing jets, upholstery, hoses and wands, which are all available in varied sizes and custom designs.
