CINCINNATI The bride-to-be who was stabbed during her bachelorette party last month is finally going to walk down the aisle this weekend.
Sherrie Snader told WCPO her punctured lung isn't fully healed, but she was able to go back to her nurse's job this week.
"I'm happy to be alive http://flavourshaker.eu/324/ and just want to use my second chance for good," she said by phone Wednesday.
The nuptials had to be postponed after Sherrie and her sister and maid-of-honor Melissa were attacked out of nowhere in Louisville on Aug. 23 just a week before her wedding day.
A man rode up on his bike - unprovoked - and stabbed the sisters on the street. They were rescued by three U.S. Army soldiers from Fort Knox who happened to be there.
Both sisters suffered a punctured a lung and had to be hospitalized in Louisville. Melissa, 21, has fully recovered, Sherrie said. Sherrie, 27, is on light duty until her injury completely heals.
The groom-to-be, James, was in Myrtle Beach for his bachelor party when the sisters were attacked. When he learned what happened, he and a friend drove straight to Louisville.
According to James, who didn't want to use his last name, the detective in the case mentioned that the suspect belonged to the "bloods." The man charged in the attack was jailed on $75,000 bond.
Now Sherrie and James look to put the incident behind them and move forward with her new life.
"I appreciate everyone who reached out to me and prayed for me," Sherrie said. "I honestly believe in the power of prayer."
There's a GoFundMe account for the sisters' medical expenses here.
