Why today's rising stars love to be the hot potatoes of sport.
Even if you have a lot of other priorities for instance, sports, extracurricular activities, etc., still you need to complete a senior project to graduate successfully

"Andrew came to my
house and showed me new recipes, for example, and Bartlett's have
been really supportive with what I do.

They have helped me get to competitions, for example, whenotherwise I wouldn't have been able to do so."

Edward's wrestling achievements are quite something already,
as his extensive CV shows. A member of the Airdrie Harriers club, Graeme has the dual
ambition of representing Scotland in the Commonwealth Games and taking
part in the Olympics when they next come to Britain in 2012.

Young football star Lee McBride is a member of the Lanarkshire
Select set-up and a key part of the Airdrie Academy team that is
unbeaten in the league so far this season. Despite being only 16, Lee is
part of the Lanarkshire Under-18 set-up and is a tall and agile central
defender. Having achieved second place in the
West District Championships, she is a member of the Bank of Scotland Youth Development Squad. So it's mainly fruit, vegetables and
potatoes for me! Working with Bartlett's and Andrew over the past
year has been great, and really interesting. She is also a successful and medal-winning
relay runner, and wants to reach the World Championships, Olympics and
Commonwealth Games as her career flourishes.

Meanwhile, five budding chefs, all classmates at St
Margaret's, recently clinched top prize in a Food and Drink
Challenge, which was sponsored by Albert Bartlett and http://www.aljazeera.com/topics/categories/sport.html designed to create
a new recipe and branding for Bartlett's Rooster potatoes, as used
by Andrew at Gleneagles. Graeme, who
specialises in 100 and 200 metre sprinting, is a member of the Scottish
relay team and was second in the Scottish Championships earlier this
year. He has Scotland schoolboy trials coming up and has one goal in
life - to play for Rangers.

Lorna Fraser is another sprint runner who looks sure to have a big
athletics future in front of her. AS important to Joanne Finch's success over the past year asher rigorous training has been her dedication to healthy eating, helpedin no small part by sponsorship from Albert Bartlett Ltd.

The Airdrie firm have been instrumental in Joanne's success
during 2005, and they joined forces with St Margaret's High School
and Airdrie Academy to talk about the last 12 months.

Scottish Chef of the Year Andrew Fairlie, who uses Bartlett's
potatoes in his restaurant at the Gleneagles Hotel, also dropped by to
offer his support to Joanne and some of Airdrie's most promising
chefs and sporting youngsters.

Among them were 15-year-old wrestler Edward Reid, sprint star
Graeme McBride, 14, promising footballer Lee McBride, 16, and athlete
Lorna Fraser, who is 15.

All four are pupils at Airdrie Academy, and have their own
aspirations for sporting success.

Joanne also took time to offer her thanks to Bartlett's for
their support, and emphasise how important her diet is.

She said: "Healthy eating is really important for people my
age, not just those involved in sport, and potatoes are a big part of
that healthy diet - especially for athletes because carbohydrates are
great for energy.

"Even eating a baked potato for lunch, to get you through the
day, is really good for you.

"I'm quite strict with my diet. I don't take crisps
or fizzy juice and will only have a bar of chocolate or a pizza maybe
once a monthas a treat. Andrew was delighted to speak of his
involvement with Bartlett's, together with the importance of
healthy eating for youngsters.

He said: "It's crucial, and if anyone is going to be
involved in sport, healthy eating is one of the things they will have to
consider.

"People are becoming much more aware that you get out of your
body what you put into it, so it's hugely important for everyone
that we learn to eat healthily.

"I'm very happy to work alongside Bartlett's, and
the healthy eating in schools project is something we've been
working at for a while now.

"We're now beginning to see the fruits of that."

If you would like to try some of the recipes created by the budding
chefs, they are available on packets of Rooster potatoes in supermarkets
nationwide
