The Corsos, who have been married for 62 years, say they just had another great Christmas, celebrating with their kids and grandkids. However, they also say they Grinch also stopped by this year.

The bah humbug moment came in a letter from ATI, formerly Allegheny Ludlum Steel. It went to all retirees, stating: “Effective Dec. 31, 2014, the company will no longer sponsor the retiree life insurance program that provides life insurance coverage after retirement.”

The letter goes on to say, “You will be responsible for paying the premiums associated with any coverage you select starting in Jan. 2015.”

Dom Corso points out that no one from ATI signed the letter.

“That’s not signed by anybody. They were embarrassed to endorse it. That’s another thing, who signed that letter,” said Corso.

Meanwhile, to replace the canceled life insurance policy would cost the couple nearly $900 per month. They just can’t pay it.

The Corsos also point out that ATI cancelled retiree health care coverage in 2010.

“There’s so much greed today, that’s what really hurts,” said Dom Corso. “The people today, just executives, seem to take care of [themselves]. They’re not worried http://associatesinsuranceagency.com about the middle class people evidently.”

KDKA reached out to ATI. No one is available at this time to comment on the letter or the cancellation of benefits.

As for the folks who are losing their benefits, the bottom line is they’re going to have to pay or go without.

The New York State Department of Health recently gave an update on enrollment in the NY State of http://jamainsurance.com Health Marketplace, which was created under the Affordable Care Act.

In a media release dated Dec. 22, it said that 225,244 people have newly enrolled for health insurance coverage during the second enrollment period that started Nov. 15. This latest open enrollment runs through Feb. 15. The deadline for Jan. 1, 2015 coverage was extended from Dec. 15 to Dec. 20 because of severe winter http://thewinthropgrp.com weather in November that may have prevented some consumers and navigators from keeping their enrollment appointments.

Between Nov. 15 and Dec. 20, the NYSOH website had more than 771,000 unique visitors. Consumers viewed nearly 36 million website pages during the period, peaking on Dec. 15 with nearly 2.3 million page views. New tools that were developed to make it easier for customers to understand http://seanhussemaninsurance.com their health insurance options and how to enroll were well-received by consumers.

The website’s new plan preview, or anonymous shopping tool, which allows individuals to shop for a health plan before starting an application, was used more than 1.6 million times during this period. An instructional video on how to renew coverage for 2015 was viewed more than 67,000 times and http://thejackmartinteam.com a video with tips on how to select a health plan was viewed more than 13,000 times. Both videos are available on the website in English and in Spanish.

“The February 15, 2015 enrollment deadline still gives people enough time to start shopping to get 2015 coverage,” said NYSOH Executive Director Donna Frescatore. “They can discover if they qualify for help paying for coverage, what health plan choices available in their area, and enroll in a plan that’s right for them by visiting the NYSOH website, calling our customer service center, scheduling an appointment with an in-person assistor, or attending one of our community events near them.”
