Long time no see Gaia.
As a Gaia veteran, I'm not too fond of the direction that this website is taking. I don't like how all the items and activities on this site now revolve around money. I miss the good old days where this place was more about having fun and making new friends. Gold was seen more as a reward for hard work which came from posting or contests. You had to work to earn your gold and it felt that much sweeter when you were able to purchase that one item that you had your eye on. I remember in 2004 when 10,000g was considered expensive. Now, you know what just happened? I clicked two daily reward boxes and got 5,000 gold a piece and with 10k I can't buy squat. I also don't appreciate how all the "good" items are unreachable, limited, or extra rare. You have to spend a fortune out of pocket to even afford one item. Its just dumb.
The second thing I would like to rant about is my job. Yes, I still work at the same shitty call center. The main thing that has changed is my supervisor. Who is an incompetent moron. She informed us of a new policy which I don't agree with and I told her so. The next thing she did was quoted me the same policy in an instant message. So she pretty much treated me like a child who didn't understand what an adult was saying the first time around. It thoroughly pissed me off.
On another note, I'm re-reading the Vampire Chronicles series from Anne Rice. The new book called The Prince Lestat just came out so of course I have to re-read the entire series before I can dive in to that book. I'm excited.
I just finished watching FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It was so epic. I was so stubborn about not watching it because I was loyal to the original series. I finally gave in and watched it; pretty much in a few sittings, it was that good. I hate to admit that it is one hundred times better than the original. It has a better, longer plot and more gore and more feels. It felt more complete and it was a happy ending with the brothers getting their bodies back. The original seemed to have an unfinished plot that left Winry and the Elric Brothers separated; it just wasn't right.
I had a nice Christmas. I was delighted when people opened the gifts I gave them. For my niece, I got her two tickets to a Basketball game in Denver; Las Angeles Clippers vs. Denver Nuggets. She is a Clippers fan. I got her seats in the exact section and row that she requested. It was a good feeling. I got her something that big because since she is a New Year's Eve baby, she gets jipped on gifts almost every year. As a gag gift, I got her chocolates in the shape of a makeup kit. For my nephew, I got him a gift card to Buckle and then some money (chocolate money that is). For my sister, I got her a gift card to Catos that was inside a new makeup purse and also some money (more chocolate money). I got her husband a box of chocolates in the shape of tools as a gag gift. Then I had him open the real gift which was a set of wrenches that he wanted. For my brother, I got him a gift card to GNC which was inside a fitness water bottle. For my nephew's girlfriend, I got her picture frames like she requested. They were several small frames fused together which I thought was cool because she and my nephew could make a collage out of them when they go on vacations. For Secret Santa at work, I gave my person a pop vinyl figure of Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. It was so adorable that I want one for myself now.
What I got for Christmas: A bracelet with tigers on it from my bro. (I love tigers) A beats pill by Dr. Dre from my sister. I had requested some computer speakers. I wasn't expecting that. Its a fancy speaker system with some crazy powerful sound. Also got a portable charger for my phone which is brilliant because my phone's battery power is seriously lacking. From my niece, I got a 3D picture of tigers. Unfortunately, it was a picture that I already owned so I had to break the bad news to her. I'm wondering if the store will let me trade it for a different picture even without the receipt? From my Secret Santa at work, I got hair clips of different colors which is exactly what I requested. Got some Hello Kitty cotton candy. A kitten calender (because I'm apparently a crazy cat lady like that).
Speaking of, if I have to herd three cats to breakfast every morning, does that make me a crazy cat lady? XD
Much Loves, ~Katra
