So I was prowling Youtube when I came across this video and now this is my new favorite music video! First off, Ghost is an electro synth-pop single by Mystery Skulls aka Luis Dubuc. The official live action video was released on February 6th of 2014 but the song gained much of its online following the release of this animated version by YouTube animator Ben Mangum aka Mystery Ben in October.
I really liked how it sort of parodied Scooby-Doo in terms of character design and yet had it's own story, which by the way is rather dark in contrast to the cartoony animation. I mean, you need to maybe watch it a couple more times just to notice the tiny little hints hidden within the video ninja
Or, if you're not into the deep stuff and the music isn't to your liking, maybe you'll enjoy it just for the animation. I loved the animation, it's like a mix of anime and American style (Scooby-Doo parody heart ), and it's not like those flash kind of animation where it's just a picture with jerky movements normally seen in animated videos. Definitely worth a check out for animation alone heart
But for me, it's got to be the story behind the characters. And it isn't just me, this video actually has it's own fandom now, which I think is amazing. I mean, for all we know, these characters (named Arthur, Vivi, Ben and Lewis [the ghost]) will probably never be seen again, unless Mystery Skulls ask Mystery Ben to animate a sequel. For people to be so taken with the whole is a testament to how good the story is! heart
