Revolution Gaia: Halloween Short Story
And the door creaked open...

A dark figure appeared in the doorway, one spidery pale hand braced against the wall. His face was dark, but his catlike eyes glinted, almost glowed in the blackness, a brilliant grey with fingers of azure frost and specks of gold.
His nostrils flared as he inhaled the musty odor of the long undisturbed air, heavy with silence and dust.
"That must still be here. I need it. I need to find it."
He stepped inside, not bothering to search for the light switch. A pocket flashlight appeared in his gloved hand, illuminating the rows of white lab tables with their spilled and broken instruments lying in disarray with a cold white light.
He paced amongst the desks, the edge of his black cape coat rippling and leaving behind a wake of dust. "Where is it, where can it be?"
He stopped abruptly, then backtracked several steps. Bending down to the floor, he removed a glove and touched a finger to a drop of dried scarlet on the ground.
"Most definitely blood... but..." he straightened up, glancing around wearily and switching off the flashlight. The only light left was the thin rays of moonlight streaming through the blinds.
"It's fresh."

"It's not here... only a few rooms left in this cursed place, though. I will find it... ah!"
A disc shone in the corner of the room, scratched, beyond repair, and covered in a curious red color. He picked it up, just able to make out the words "S. Holmes: Experi. Case 506" scrawled on the surface, then dropped it abruptly when his hands came away, dripping in red.
As the DVD clattered to the floor, he watched in frozen fascination as the puddle of blood grew larger of its own accord until it touched his shoes.
"What..." his mind buzzed around, needing an explanation. No footsteps anywhere, the rooms clear of any human presence.
