Still not finished. I have to transfer a s**t ton of files over to the new desktop, most notably Steam games. While I could just re-download them all, it's a whole lot more efficient to just send 'em over through Skype. Here are some comparisons...
Regular download speed:
3 megabits per second (375 kilobytes or 0.375 megabytes per second)
10 GB of information downloaded in 7.4 hours
LAN download speed:
18 megabits per second (2250 kilobytes or 2.25 megabytes per second)
10 GB of information downloaded in 1.2 hours
Advantages of LAN download:
-Extremely fast speed. Extremely.
Disadvantages of LAN download:
-Packaging the software can take a bit of time. I figure nearly... 10 GB can take 2 hours.
-Unpackaging is required and must be done CORRECTLY
==================================
If I had faster internet, I'd just download and install. However, I don't, so I'm both downloading AND using LAN download.
