I hate doing this... I thought as I watched Snow walk away. I knew she hated walking away too. It was obvious by the way she walked, clenching her fists, her normally relaxed figure tense and strained. Ingripped my sword, twisting my hands around the hilt as I then walked towards the fighting. I told her I would protect her, and that's what I'll do. I stopped as I saw my fellow angels laid out upon the ground, bloody and slain and dead. That same image that brought forth a burning rage, would scar me for life.
I felt a dark presence coming towards me as I spotted a second presence dropping from the sky. A sense of dread flooded me, they were killing my friends and family. I set my jaw and spun around leaving my back to the presence in the sky, and confronting the demon behind me with my sword slashing at its chest and throat. It fell as I was able to get a blow to its side in. I turned around in surprise as I felt a pain in my leg, but not looking down I just swung, causing the demon I had turned my back to, to step back. I had blood oozing from a sword wound on my leg as I took a confrontative stance facing him. He seemed to smirk before slamming his sword towards me in a downward angled slash. I brought my sword up to block the blow and grunted as I felt this demons strength. He was strong. Damn... I thought as he tried to use his size to gain leverage. No! I won't lose!! I yelled in my mind as I shoved him back and thrust my sword through him. I stood there panting as I scanned the small town. There seemed to be no one left alive. I shook my head as sorrowful regret washed over me. I'm supposed to be their protector... I thought as I then heard the clash of cold deadly metal smashing against the ring of the sword this town was built around. I spun and spotted the Guardian Angel of the Sword fighting a demon, and losing. I stared, unable to move as my Guardian, my Mentor, my Swordmaster, my old friend, fell.
Then I saw the signature blast of light. It was Her. The Guardian of the Staff. she fought off 3 demons, covered in the blood of her dead comrades and her fierce enemies. She incinerated one, as the second slashed into her. She fell to her knees and as she did so, I Saw Snow. Snow... Standing on the steps of town hall, staring in horror as her beloved teacher died before her eyes. I stared at her, watching tears leave her blue eyes, her blonde hair tangled from the wind, her face pale from fear, and I memorized every feature of her face. I then launched forward towards the demons.
I slashed and cut them down, one by one as I took out my rage for what they had done, for what they had stolen from me. My friends, my loved ones, my comrades. I then came to last one and stopped. He was different and I knew it. He was the one that killed my mentor, and at that moment, he had Snow. No... "Snow!" I yelled. She stared at me with a blank look, no emotion in her gaze now that this..this thing..had his hand on her shoulder. "What did you do?! Let her go!" I snarled at the demon.
The demon seemed to smirk as I reacted. He looked at me as if he knew everything about me. His gaze bore into my mind as he said "She can't really hear you at the moment, so I wouldn't waste your breath." He said nonchalantly, amusement obvious in his eyes. "Im debating on whether or not I should kill her actually..." He said with a cocky sneer. I growled and raised my sword "Let her go..." I snapped at him. The demon gave a sinister grin and squeezed Snow's small shoulder and she dropped to the ground. A wave of worry slammed me as she hit the ground She was supposed to stay safe!!! I'm supposed to protect her!!! I kept thinking this over and over again as I stared at her small still figure on the steps of the town hall. I glared at him, obvious rage in my eyes as he nodded "Finally, I've got you mad. Now..." he smirked sarcastically "I know of the bond you two share...connected at the soul I believe. I'm going to break that connection."
He stated this as if I didn't have a say. "What do you mean break it?? What makes you think id let you??" I growled angrily. The demon shook his head "Well for one if you don't let me, well...ill kill her and then you." He said while casually tracing a circle on the town hall steps with the tip of his blood stained sword. I grimaced as I looked at Snow. Snow...i'm sorry... I thought to her, hoping shed hear me. "Break it..." I murmured, and that was the last thing I said before i heard the sound of something shattering, and I felt the searing heat of his blade slipping through my chest. "Oh, and by the way, Jace. My name is Demon." the being said into my ear as i lost consciousness.
