This is like, my third attempt at writing this out since a storm is going right now and likes blowing out the power while I'm typing things.
Anyway, I recently was at Comic Con and since I've been getting asked how it was and what I did, I figure I can just make a journal about it.
We didn't get into the big halls the first day since people like Angelina Jolie, Bruce Willis, Helen Mirran, etc. were all there. I was sad I didn't get to go to the Tron panel, but I will live.... I suppose... Instead we went to one of the smaller panels about comic books and law since Sabrina, one of the friends I went with, are in law school right now. It ended up being pretty interesting. Lots of stuff about copyright, trademark, and fair use. After that we headed to the Quantum Leap panel which had Scott Bakula. I was surprised he didn't get more questions about why Enterprise sucked, but most were about how he felt having to wear a dress and high heels.
We wanted to go to the Big Bang Theory panel, so we got to Ballroom 20 bright and early and sat through all the panels before it. Stargate Universe was up first with Robert Carlyle, David Blue, Ming Na, and Alaina Huffman. I don't watch that show since I'm still pissed Atlantis was cancelled, but they were pretty funny. Ming Na was acting like she was on crack. After that was Caprica which was another I knew nothing about, but the celebs on that panel were Alessandra Torresani, Sasha Roiz, Magda Apanowicz, and James Marsters.
After that they started handing out the lyrics to the Big Bang Theory theme song and we were like "ummm..... kay?" I turned to my bff and was like "wouldn't it be cool if the Barenaked Ladies came out to play this?" cause we knew they had a concert that week in San Diego (BNL is Sabrina's favorite band). So then Wil Wheaton comes out as the panel moderator and is like "I wanted to do a sing a long, but I feel like something is missing...." and then ******** Barenaked Ladies bust out on the stage with their instruments and sing the song. So awesome. After that the cast from the show came out ( Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar) and were hilarious. And of course we got them all to sing Soft Kitty. woo!
After that we sat through Bones which had David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel. The author of the books it is based on was also there which scored us a free book. After that Joss Whedon had a panel which was pretty cool. Nathan Fillian surprised us by hiding in the audience in a disguise (fake mustashe and everything). That was great.
We sat in the Indigo Ballroom all day in the Hilton this day. First up was Leverage where I scored a nice "grifter" t-shirt even though I don't watch that show. Another panel with Wil Wheaton! The celebs at that one were Timothy Hutton, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf, and Aldis Hodge. After that was the Venture Bros. which had the creators and a couple voice actors. That panel was so hilarious. I don't think they even spent much time talking about the show. I feel like they'd be cool guys to go drinking with.Next was Sanctuary but the only person there I cared about was Amanda Tapping. Girl crush! woo!
Then it was time for what we were actually there for: The Guild! Felicia Day and the whole cast were there along with, GUESS WHO?!, Wil Wheaton again. I swear to God they should have just called it Wheaton Con. Anyway, that panel was AMAZING. They previewed episode three which has a hilarious painting of Wil and Felicia looking like they are on the cover of a romance novel (we all got pins of it) and they previewed their latest music video. Good times had by all. After that we ran down to the exhibitors hall and got all their autographs.
Another "sit in the Ballroom" day since we wanted to see Glee. First up was Smallville which had Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman, Justin Hartley, and surprise guest John Schneider. After that was Supernatural with Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Jim Beaver. Then they did American Dad which was kinda random, but they screened an episode that hasn't airred yet which was kinda cool.
Then of course we saw Glee. The cast members that showed up were Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Amber Riley, Jenna Ushkowitz, Naya Rivera, and Heather Morris. At some point everyone wanted Heather and Naya to make out. lol. Most of the questions during Q&A ended up being aimed at Chris though.
Other than that we did go to the Exhibitors hall a lot. I saw Brent Spiner and Micheal Dorn down there while I was looking at some posters. Didn't get their autographs though since it was way too pricey. I got glimpses of other has-been actors and actresses as well, but I'm too lazy to list them or remember some of their names. lol. One was the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. haha. Also saw Adrianne Curry out on the street posing in a Fifth Element costume.
Next month I get to do it all over again at Fan Expo! wooo!
