Starting A Business Part 3
So my week has been rather busy!

Tuesday
The day after I go and get a loan from Bank N, I get a letter in the post from Bank B. They are happy to offer me a loan! Oh, but there are some problems, I need £3500, they will only give me £2700, and their interest rate is 13.99%!!!! Bank N has an interest rate of 8.4%, that is a BIG difference! So I finalised all the paperwork with Bank N that afternoon biggrin I also phoned a print company and requested some samples of the different kinds of paper they use so I can work what I want my leaflets and business cards printed on, printed off a bunch of things that I'm going to need next week, set up a Work profile on my laptop so work and personal are now separate, and did a bunch of mini tasks.

Wednesday
Phoned up Bank B, told them I wanted to close my account, had to explain that waiting three weeks to hear back about a loan that didn't even cover what I needed just wasn't for me when another bank had already stepped in to help me. Very sad, etc etc, account closed and my brother now has a ton of stuff to put through his paper shredder.

The samples from the print company arrived in the morning (fast delivery = awesome) and I spent about 15 minutes with my family stroking every piece of paper they'd sent before deciding on a regular business card (nice and smooth) and Premium Silk for the leaflets (gloss looked quite nice but it shows up finger marks easily and isn't quite as thick as Silk). Now I'm just waiting for my account card to come through from the bank so I can make my order.

Got a phonecall from the bank, my business manager has noticed that I should probably get Public Liability Insurance so the bank is going to offer me a quote. But when discussing it with the person on the telephone we realise there's no point in taking it out now when I won't really need it until September and quotes expire after 90 days, so he makes a note for someone to phone me back mid-June to give me a quote and then I can get the policy in September biggrin

I also finish off another learning resource and start adding new things to my Zazzle shop.

Thursday
Was pretty much dedicated to Zazzle, created a bunch of new things for the shop and then posted in the forums a few times to get my name around. Also found someone else who is just starting her business so the pair of us had an awesome conversation on MSN, and I helped her with her business plan!

Friday
That's today! Went in to Cambridge with my Mum and eldest sister, visited several stationary stores to see how much it would cost to get a ton of C5-sized envelopes and enough Bic biros to drown a small village and it turns out that Ebay is cheaper for both! Still waiting for my bank card so still haven't been able to order anything DX But on the plus side I do now have a nice long list of everything I need to get ASAP, if it arrives tomorrow morning it just means that most of my Saturday is going to be spent making purchases and printing off receipts for it all. The good thing about being self employed is that you can do something silly like work at the weekend and then give yourself Monday off instead XD

Logged on to my work profile in the afternoon and found that my Zazzle work had paid off as I sold three buttons/badges over night! Someone bought 3 "Team Achilles" ones, I'm assuming she has friends that like the Greek hero as well XD So that put me in a very positive mood, made a few more Zazzle things and then drafted a letter to go with my marketing leaflet.

Next week may be very busy depending on when my bank card arrives. I read in a marketing book that post is more likely to be opened if the envelope is hand written. Therefore, in order to increase the chances of my leaflet being read I am going to handwrite at least 100 envelopes eek I've recorded a bunch of stuff off TV this week so I can at least sit and watch something while doing it rather than sit at my desk and be bored. But obviously I need the envelopes first and in order to get the envelopes I need my bank card crying Fingers crossed it arrives tomorrow even if it means having to work this weekend!
