Dreamland Saga

About:

There are two types of sleep: non-rapid eye movement (NREM sleep) and rapid eye movement (REM sleep).

NREM sleep includes four stages, ranging from light to deep sleep. We cycle through these four stages of sleep approximately every 90 minutes. Then we go into REM sleep, the most active stage of sleep when dreaming often occurs. During REM sleep, the eyes move back and forth beneath the eyelids and muscles become immobile.

The world of dreams is the way of escape but, at what price? Once in the state of REM, most would literately enter an different world. Those who can are known as, The Crafter. They use the people of that world, and with their powerful wills, unknowingly bend, craft and twist their bodies and environment to fit their own fantasies. This cost great pain to the mysterious creatures of that world known as, Sombras. Sombras can often be seen in the waking world by certain groups of people. At night, when you're about close your eyes to sleep, you can see a shadowy type figures, who stretches out their hands to seemingly strangle you. Those are known are Sombras.

You can feel the air around you become disturbed, like someone is moving towards you, and then see their hands inch closer to your body. But they can never touch you. Then the Sombras would vanish, before you can completely open your eyes. They are the creatures who regulate and watch the sleeping habits of humans, however they are very vulnerable creatures. Their barriers can easily be overcome by those of high will and mental imbalance(s). Crafters are now in danger. The Sombras have a new hero of their world. An very terrorizing creature – seemingly a man, deposing Crafters one-by-one. Once killed in you dream, you will awaken. However, there are always drawbacks.

Your character is a mental patient at Fordham Asylum. For whatever reason, which is completely up you, they ended there. Here are the drawbacks and other points:

If you die in the other world, but your character was sedated and unable to wake, he/she will die in their sleep.

Fighting this mysterious “monster” is an option. However, he's not bond by the laws of your dreamworld. His main priority is to save the innocent Sombras. Remember, your characters are unaware of the truth. The truth being that your characters are the actual bad guys of that world. Due to your crafting, which causes the Sombras great pain.

Your characters see this mysterious monster as the bad guy. He brings you back to suffering. He forces you back to a world in which you bonded and locked away like animals. To place in which your are mistreated and have no other salvation but the dreamworld. There will be few characters that will try to communicate with this “man” or “monster”. He not much of a talker but, it will distract him greatly - probably long enough for you hide, escape or wake voluntarily.

Like Sombras, he can be seen in waking world. However, unlike Sombras, he can and possibly WILL hurt you. If you see in the waking world, try speaking with him. You will get few answer, maybe, or he will watch you speak. After awhile, he will disappear.

This mysterious man is not a NPC! Thus, can only tackle one Crafter at a time. His weapon is mirror-blade, known as Pesadilla (Nightmare), which reflects your greatest fears and can do some serious damage. His weakness are Encendedores (Lighters), which are powerfully bright creatures who feed on darkness. Sombras and the mysterious “man” or “monster” are made of darkness. Encendedores are not high in numbers, but they are big and dangerous. They usually dwell in dreams in which there is a lot of clarity – happiness, sunlight, and peaceful setting. Which is rare, because your characters is a patient at some mental asylum. Most of your characters' dreams are crafted based on their mood and other inner emotions – wants and needs.

Rules:

1. Follow the ToS. Which is kind of obvious. Also, ZokuRumba is god. I can change the rules, ask you to change something or time skip as I please.

2. No god-moding. No one is perfect, so neither should your character. Also, make sure that your character isn't too similar to any other character. It's no fun to have a bunch of clones running around.

3. Here are some posting requirements I'd like to point out:

> Each post should be a minimum of 5-6 sentences, that means one full paragraph. And sentences mean more than a couple words. No skimping!

> This is a literate roleplay. Please check your post's grammar and spelling before putting it up. One or two typos are acceptable occasionally, but 'tlkin liek dis' is unacceptable.

> All posts should be in third and/or first person. That means talking should be in "quotes", thoughts should be italicized, and actions should not be put *like this*.

> Text should be in sizes small to normal, and no incredibly bright colors.

> Try to post at least 3 times a week. Everyone has a life outside of the internet, and I understand that, but joining then abandoning the RP is unacceptable.

4. All profiles should be posted here.

5. Remember to include all important information in your profile. Don't leave out anything for 'suspense' or anything of that sort.

6. Don't always wait for other people to start talking to you to initiate conversation.

7. Try not to keep all outside RP conversation to the OOC/Sign-Up thread. That's what it's there for, after all.

8. Romance IS encouraged. just make sure to keep everything PG-16. No one wants to know what exactly is going on in your bedroom, if you feel you must go any further, please take it elsewhere.

9. Drama is also encouraged, everyone loves a little suspense, and any other crazy shenanigans you can think of is welcome. Please, be realistic though. You're in a freaking mental asylum.

10. Cursing is allowed, but don't go swear-crazy. You are not a sailor on the high seas.
