Well, It's that time of year again....Where candy gets really cheap. I personally am having my usual halloween party again, and I hope that will turn out good...I'm going as a Cthulhu Cultist! Also, I just finished my band Fall Festival performance...Yeah, we kicked a**....I tried to steal sierra, but his band was conspicualy absent, or possibly he just wasn't there when the 2 other Carrillo bands were there...Anywhoo, after this I have my Aikido dojo's annual picnic... I'm currently training for my green belt. In other news, It's time for 2 irrelevant rants-Doom movies and WOW.
Let's start with The DOOM movie. Okay, here are the solid facts-
1. Doom, while pioneering the intensly gory first person shooter, is not reknowed for being an intellegent thriller. Face it, the plot sucks. Some marines go to Mars, and open up the portal to hell. While Doom 2 and 3 might have plots, the old 16-bit shooter doesn't have much of one.
2. The Rock is NOT a canidate for a movie star. He's not made for it. I would have gone with Vin Diesel. The Rock, while being able to shoot big guns at things and whack stuff, isn't really the star you want if you don't want it to seem like the whole thing is a moronic action film. Which it probably is.
3. WTF were they thinking, having several of the scenes in FIRST PERSON SHOOTER MODE? I mean, as long as they keep it to a minimum, it might be cool, like the shot in the preview where he's attacking the demon dog thing with a chainsaw, but the only people who will really appreciate it will be gamers.
4. I have to give it points for probable accuracy. I was watching "the Daily Show", when they had the Rock come in with the model of the BFG and talk about how accurate it is...I dunno, I haven't seen it yet, and my DOOM experience is minimal.
Now, for my W(orld)O(f)W(arcraft) rant. Many people love, and are quite addicted to this MMORPG. I admit, I am succumbing to it's wiles...But I am trying to resist. I costs 50 ******** dollars to get, then 15 a month? I don't like having to pay whenever I want to play. In my opinion, it makes sense, but I don't like having to pour my money in a bottomless pit that is WOW. Everyone who touches that stuff gets addicted. It's like heroin. Only you have a better chance of getting off of heroin. I KNOW it's insanely cool and fun, but you know what? GET A ******** LIFE. You don't need to spend ALL YOUR FREE TIME talking about some item that lets you do +10 damage to wombats. If you want to play it, fine. But don't waste your life sitting there leveling. Get out once in a while. Don't spend 3 hours trying to do quests on your gnome. 1 or 2, on a weekday, sure. 15 on a weekend? no. I have no problem if you choose to play this game, just...come on, people.
